Ethel Marie Brewer
Ethel Marie Brewer, age 80, a resident of Lawrence Hall Nursing Center, died June 4, 2000, at Lawrence Hall.
Born May 13, 1920, at Mayfield, Ky., she was the daughter of Edward and May Smith Harpole. She was a dressmaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Brewer; and two sons, H.E. Gene Brewer and Jimmy Brewer.
Survivors include three sons, Buck Brewer, Walnut Ridge, Franklin Brewer, Barnhart, Mo., and Rick L. Brewer, Sulphur Springs, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were Monday afternoon at 5 at Lawrence Memorial Park. Higginbotham Funeral Service had charge of the arrangements.
Austin Claude Ellis
Austin Claude Ellis, age 69, of Ravenden, died Sept. 27, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 8, 1931, at Wirth, he was a screw machine specialist for Gates Rubber Company/Hose Assembly in Rockford, Ill. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, an alderman for the city of Ravenden and a Lawrence County Auxiliary Police Officer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Survivors include a son, Craig Ellis of Rockford, Ill.; three daughters, Connie Schinderling, Rockford, Ill., Cindi Smith, Ravenden, and Cathie Ellis, Conway; a stepson, Brad Siness, Camp Douglas, Wisc.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral was Saturday at noon at Higginbotham Chapel at Hardy with Rev. Floyd Richard officiating. Burial was in Perry Cemetery
under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were James Stones, Daniel Dail, Blake Ellis, Travis Todd, Rex Marshal and Chuck Collins. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Schinderling and Cody Ellis.
Harold Wayne Shreve
Harold Wayne Shreve, age 25, of Bryant, died Sept. 30, 2000, after a six-year battle with brain cancer.
Born Sept. 29, 1975, he was the son of Harold and Cora Shreve. He was a graduate of Bryant High School and a member of the Church at Rock Creek. He was a licensed minister and was attending Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge. He had worked as a summer missionary and staffer at Super Summer Arkansas and was a relay torch bearer for the 1996 Olympic Games.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Floy Shreve, and his maternal grandparents, Milton and Ruby Ward.
Survivors include his parents, Harold and Cora Shreve, Bryant; a sister, Amy Lovett; and his paternal grandfather, Guy Shreve, Cave City.
Funeral was Tuesday afternoon at 2 at Roller Drummond Southwest Chapel with Rev. Doug Pruitt and Rev. Randy Brantley officiating and Bro. Danny Joe Burroughs singing. Burial was in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Jim Gosney, Bill Ritter, Blake Betts, Mark Manning, Wayne Arington and Ron Daniels.

Dr. C.W. Nickels, who practiced dentistry in Walnut Ridge for over 40 years, died Monday at age 84 at his home in Springdale. Dr. Nickels, who also maintained a home in Walnut Ridge, died at the Northwest Medical Center, following an apparent heart attack.
