William E. Bell
William E. Bell, 89, of Decatur, Ind., died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at Bluffton Regional Medial Center.
He was born Dec. 10, 1914, in Piggott, the son of Clarence Bell and Lennie Underwood.
He married Letha Bell on Oct. 14, 1939.
He is survived by one son, Gerald Harmon of Enterprise, Okla.; two daughters, Linda Shaw of Liberty Center, Ind., and Shirley Davis of Piggott; one brother, Earnest Bell of Piggott; one sister, Martha Blalack of Paragould; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday (today), April 7, 2004, at Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Daniel York officiating. Burial will follow in the Piggott Cemetery. Irby Funeral Service, Inc., of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
Imogene Gray
Imogene Gray, 81, of Sedalia, Mo., formerly of Piggott, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in Sedalia, Mo.
She was born April 16, 1922, in Van Buren, Ark., the daughter of the late Johnny Earl and Pearl Parrish Graddy.
She was united in marriage to Marion Henry Gray on Oct. 11, 1941, to this union two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Henry Gray in 1997; and one brother, Jerold Graddy.
She is survived by two sons, Aaron Gray and wife, Jane, of Sedalia, Mo., and Caroll Gray and wife, Ellen, of Rozet, Wyo.; five grandchildren, Becky, Carrie, Michael, Kristy and Patsy; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Scott, Samuel, Samantha and Katelin; six brothers, Troy Graddy, Hullon Graddy and Jimmy Graddy, all of Piggott, Bobby Joe Graddy of Bowling Green, Mo., J.E. Graddy of Conway and Alion Graddy of Fredericktown, Mo.; three sisters, Geneva Gray of Piggott, Juanita Williams of Piggott and Earlene Williams of Troy, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Richard Akins officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery
in Piggott. Pallbearers were Linuel Graddy, Ronnie Graddy, Sam Williams, Sam Williams, Jr., Sam Keichline and Jacin Hammett.

Gladys L. Leslie
Gladys L. Leslie, 90, of Greenway, passed away Monday, March 1, in the Rector Health Care. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel. Burial will be in Mitchell cemetery.
Mildred Smith
Long-time Piggott resident Mrs. Mildred Smith died on Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the Piggott Community Hospital. Mrs. Smith was 106-years-old.
She was born March 9, 1898, in Clay City, Ill., the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Hannah Blessing Brissenden. The Brissendens moved to Piggott in 1905 when she was just seven-years-old.
She was united in marriage to Harold Dewey Smith. They had one son.
The Smiths went into business in Piggott in 1937. At the time, Mr. Smith's primary business was making harnesses and saddles, but as society progressed and farmers traded in teams of horses for tractors the business changed into a shoe store. Mrs. Smith worked in the store until around 1976.
She and Harold were friends of the Pfeiffer family. Mrs. Smith donated a German beer stein to the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center in 1998. The stein was given to her by Virginia Pfeiffer, the sister of Pauline Pfeiffer Hemingway, in 1928 after she returned from a visit to Europe. Mrs. Smith was also a member of a bridge club that included Pauline's mother, Mary Downey Pfeiffer. The bridge club played its games at various homes in the town.
In an interview in 1998, Mrs. Smith said that Ernest Hemingway spent a lot of time at the Smiths' shop on the courtsquare when he was in town.
Mrs. Smith was a charter member of the local V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the First Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dewey Smith; one son, Charlie Bill Smith; one daughter-in-law, Betty Smith; and three sisters, Kathleen Doty, Burnice Thomas and Edna Rudolph.
She is survived by one grandson, Charles L. Smith of North Little Rock; one granddaughter, Brenda Smith of Greenway; three great-grandchildren, Angel White of Greenway, Valerie Linker of North Little Rock and Josh Smith of Little Rock; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Josephine King of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2004, in the First Christian Church in Piggott with Jay McPhearson officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wade Smart, John Daniel Smart, Johnny Wade Schmidt, Jeff Linker, Chad Goodman and Bryan Lynch. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
William Paul Foulk
William Paul Foulk, 82, of Piggott died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Stanford, Ark., the son of William Judson Foulk and Myrtle Elizabeth Hutchins Foulk.
Foulk was a life-long farmer and until his death also owned and operated Foulk's Two-Way Radio Supply.
He was a veteran of World War II and served his country in the battles and campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe with the 90th Infantry Division, known as the "Tough Ombres".
He was a member of the South Thornton Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Judson and Myrtle; his sisters, Ruth Warren, Mary Gregory and Christina Wallis; and a brother, Harry Faulk.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Rebecca Blocker Foulk of the home; his son, William Rodney Foulk of Piggott; his daughter, Paulette Foulk Grimes of Piggott; four grandchildren, Lisa Dawn Yon and Brian Damon Grimes of Piggott, Cristal Friederich of St. Jacob, Ill., and Chad Foulk of Grant Fork, Ill.; eight great-grandchildren, Natasha Seal and Dillan Cate of Piggott, Joseph Grimes of Frisco, Texas, Cole Featherstone of Blowing Rock, N.C., Houston Foulk and McCaleh Foulk of Piggott, Erica Friederich of St. Jacob, Ill., and Austin Foulk of Carlinville, Ill.; he was soon to be a great-great-grandfather. He is also survived by one beloved brother, Avis Franklin Faulk of Piggott.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were his family, Avis Franklin Faulk Jr., Brian Damon Grimes, Royce Dillan Cate, Michael Lynn Yon, Joe Friederich and Ronnie Graddy.
Wallace B. Lewallen
Wallace B. Lewallen, 76, of Corning died Aug. 19, 2004, at the Med Center in Memphis.
He was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Alicia, Ark., the son of Bill and Carrie Dobbs Lewallen.
He was united in marriage to Freida Oneita Sauls on Sept. 3, 1947.
Mr. Lewallen was of the Methodist faith and a member of a Masonic Lodge in Hoxie. He was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Lewallen; and one son, Kelly Lewallen.
He is survived by his wife, Freida Sauls Lewallen of the home in Corning; one daughter, Suzanne Daniels of Caraway; one son, Wallace Gaylon Lewallen; his mother, Carrie Lewallen of Pocahontas; two brothers, Dennis Lewallen of Nelson, Ill., and Dale Lewallen of Pocahontas; four grandchildren, Marcus Price, T. Daniels, Lacey Lewallen and Channing Lewallen; four great-grandchildren, Dalton Price, Chandler Daniels, Cayci Daniels and Cole Lewallen.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning with Blue Riggan as the special speaker. Burial followed in the Corning Cemetery.

Omer Meade
Omer Meade, 86, of Piggott died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at the Murphy Health Care in Piggott.
He was born Jan. 5, 1916, in Piggott, the son of the late Robert and Annie Mae Lindley Meade.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Meade in 1993; one son Homer Meade Jr.; one sister; Dovie Crittenden; two brothers, Dewayne Meade and Lennis Meade.
He is survived by one son, Wayne Meade of Moberly, Mo; four daughters; Sadine Dixon of Piggott; Stella Mae Romines of Piggott; Judy Dawson of Imperial, Mo and Louise Davis of Piggott; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Meade and Ivan Meade both of Piggott; one sister Ruby Fair of Piggott, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 19, in Hoggard and Sons Funeral Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating.
Burial was in Piggott Cemetery
with Hoggard and Sons in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Billy Campbell Jr., Billy Campbell Sr., Ted Hackworth, Jason Davis, Tracy Dawson and Greg Meade.
Kenneth Howard Harmon
Kenneth Howard Harmon, 72, of Melber, Ky., died Friday, Aug. 13, at his residence.
He was a farmer, a member of New Concord Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the 
Korean War and a lifetime member of Plymouth Rock Masonic Lodge No.47 in Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Harmon.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dora Griffith Harmon; one daughter, Debbie Harmon of Melber, Ky.; one son, Kenneth Richard Harmon, of Melber, Ky.; his mother, Ruth Harvill Harmon, of Piggott; five sisters, Inez Pierce of St.Louis, Wanda Wade, of Goldbar, Wash., Bonnie Todd of Hardy, Ark.; Maxine Pace of Miami and Bernice Wiseman of Piggott; one brother, Johny Harmon of Melber; six grandchildren; Jamie Spraggs of Hickory, Ky., Melissa Beckham of Louisville, Ky., and Joey Wyman, Tony Harmon, Danielle Harmon and Hope Harmon, all of Melber; three great-grandchildren, Coty Spraggs of Arlington,Ky., and Brendon Spraggs and Brittany Spraggs, both of Hickory,Ky., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2p.m., Monday, Aug. 16 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner and Orr Funeral Home with Ronnie Glisson officiating.
Burial was in New Concord Cemetery
in Melber, Ky.

Frank McKenney
Frank McKenney, 84, of Piggott, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at his home in Piggott.
He was born Nov. 30, 1919, in Piggott. He was the son of the late James Onia and Elizabeth Fox McKenney.
He was united in marriage to Opal Permenter on Oct. 6, 1939. They had four children.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James O. McKenney Jr. and Howard McKenney; three step-brothers, Leroy French, Eugene French and Sonny French; and one step-sister, Madeline Chase.
He is survived by his wife, Opal McKenney of Piggott; three sons, Roger McKenney and wife, Margie, of Piggott, Lowell McKenney and wife, Deanne, of Rector and Gary McKenney and wife, Gwen, of Pollard; one daughter, Brenda Fielder and husband, Rick, of Cabot; 10 grandchildren, Lynnette Beard, Delayne McKenney, Brian McKenney, Brandye Lucas, Trae Peacock, Brent Ezell, Melissa Brown, Jeff Fielder, Rachel Morgan and Garrett McKenney; seven great-grandchildren, Alex McKenney, Cody and Justin Peacock, Ethan and Mary Elizabeth Lucas, Gretchen Morgan and Bryant Underwood; one sister, Dora Causey of Piggott; one brother, Ansil McKenney of California; and other relatives and friends.

Lynn Wilson
Lynn Wilson, 53, of Pollard, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.
He was born Dec. 25, 1950, in Poplar Bluff, the son of Sydney Lomax Wilson and the late Lyman Theodore Wilson.
He married Sharon Umfleet on Sept. 18, 1953.
He was a Field Representative for Watermelon Brokerage and a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church in Holcomb.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyman, and one brother, Donald Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wilson of Pollard; his mother, Sydney Lomax Wilson of Holcomb; two daughters, Stephanie Estes and husband, Wade, and Sarah Jo Morgan and husband, Scotty, all of Holcomb; a son, Christopher Lynn Wilson, of Holcomb; three grandchildren, Kelsey Estes, Wyatt Estes and Elie Morgan; a mother and father-in-law, Herman and Jewell Umfleet, of Advance; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Vickie Umfleet, of Marshfield, Mo.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (today), Sept. 1, 2004, in the Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with Bro. Buddy Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in Stanfield Cemetery
