Richard Ridlon
Richard Ridlon, known as “Dick” by some and “Doc” by others, was born on March 3rd, 1951, in Denton, TX. He grew up in Justin, TX, under the loving care of his parents Harvey and Laura Bea, a brother, Roger, and sister, Ann.
After graduating from Northwest High School, Richard attended North Texas State University where he graduated with cum laude honors. He then attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he met his future wife of 36 years, Linda Jeanne Prescott. After a three-year family medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR, Richard moved with Linda and friends to the small town of DeQueen, AR, with plans of starting a thriving business and a happy family. Richard practiced Obstetrics and Family Medicine in DeQueen for the next thirty years, and served as urgent care physician for Cox Health in Springfield, MO, for his final few years of medical practice.
During his tenure in DeQueen, Richard cared for a countless number of patients, delivered thousands of babies, eased the passing of many people, and counted every one of them as friends. He raised and cared for dogs, cats, parrots, squirrels, snakes, lizards, alligators, cattle, goats, pigs, geese, mice, donkeys, fish, one raccoon, and two loving children, Adam and Ashley.
Throughout his life, Richard exemplified the definition of good will toward humans and animals alike, and he shared that love with everyone he knew. He was a natural prankster and joke-teller, and he loved to laugh and make others laugh, which he did often and well. His many interests included flying, boating, water skiing, fishing, golf, and of course, the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Richard Stephen Ridlon, MD, died on May 23, 2013 at St. David’s Medical Center in Round Rock, Texas, at the age of 62 years. A small family memorial service is to be held on Monday, May 27th. Grandpa Doc is survived by his two children, 2.3 grandchildren, his brother, his sister, and countless friends and family. He will be lovingly remembered by friends and family alike.
Larry Dale Ayers
Mr. Larry Dale Ayers, age 71, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Friday, May 24, 2013, in the Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born February 13, 1942 in Horatio. He was a retired truck driver and farmer.
Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by his parents, Robert James and Corene Ruth Young Ayers and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Rendy Dodson Ayers of Horatio; three daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Rickey Stanford of De Queen, Crystal and Doug Guinn of Horatio and Robin and Mike Burney of Cerro Gordo; one brother, William Young Ayers of Horatio; one sister, Deborah Ayers of Lockesburg; four grandchildren, Cassidy Stanford and his wife, Nicole, Jordan Burney, Tell Burney and Wyatt Guinn and one great-grandson, Ashton Jai Stanford.
Funeral Services for Mr. Ayers will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013, in the Old Center Church in Horatio with Chris Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
James Terrell Jester
James Terrell Jester, age 69, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, entered eternity on Thursday, May 23, 2013, in the Christus St. Michael Heath System in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born November 28, 1943, in Dierks, the son of Alvin and Rilla Martin Jester. He was retired from Domtar in Ashdown and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Jester was preceded in death by his wife, Vondell Defee Jester; his parents; one sister, Lois Marie Martinez, and one brother, Jimmy Calvin Jester.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Myra Jester of Prescott, Arkansas, Raymond and Hellon Jester of Nashville, Tennessee, James Edward and Tricia Jester of New Boston, Texas and James and Anita Sebren of Dierks; 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Jerry Jester of Amity, Arkansas, Thomas Jester of Denham Springs, Louisiana and Billy Edwin “Eddie” Jester of Dierks; 3 sisters, Billie Baker of San Diego, California, Christine Triteny of Katy, Texas and Shirley Mayo of Amity, Arkansas and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Jester will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 26, 2013, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Donnie Dillard officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 25th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Mr. Jim Ruzin
Mr. James Michael Ruzin, age 72, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Thursday, May 23rd in the De Queen Medical Center.
He was born to Henry and Bernice Weaver Ruzin in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 22nd 1940. He served in the National Guard in Minnesota, and he was a retired restaurant owner. He enjoyed watching sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by one brother, Tom Ruzin of Lockesburg, three sisters, Phyllis Charboneau, Lois Hansen, and Janice Grooms all of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a number of nieces and nephews.

James “JB” Tollett
James “JB” Tollett, age 83, a resident of Newhope, Arkansas, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Dierks Health and Rehab Center.
He was born August 20, 1929, in Athens, Arkansas to the late William Alcaney and Bertie Mae Pate-Tollett. He was raised in a Christian home with 8 sisters and brothers. As a young may his family migrated to Ft. Worth in hopes of finding work. During this time the family opened a small café, where he worked part time, along with his full time job. Later JB settled in Borger, Texas, where he became a heavy equipment operator, and a member of the Union.
JB was a long time Mason and member of the Buffalo Gap Masonic Lodge #484 in Langley, Arkansas. He had received his 50 year pin several years ago.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ardoth “AD” Tollett and Odell Tollett, who passed away as a child; and five sisters, Polly Goltrey, Vera Boker, Janette Moser, Hazel Horton, and Eunice Mae Tollett who also passed away as a child.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Doretta Driggers-Tollett; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Tollett and Melanie of Tulsa, Oklahoma and David Tollett and Mary of Jacksonville, Florida; one daughter Dorothea Tollett-Mays of Borger, Texas; six grandchildren, Brandon Tollett, Rachel Tollett-Becker, Phillip Tollett, Julia Tollett-Tosh, Hunter Mays and Colton Mays; four great-grandchildren, Kira, Liberty, Michael, and Maria; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and CD “Red” Bishop of Borger, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Honoring his life as pallbearers will be Dennis Tollett, Terry McQuary, David White, Frank Horner, Royce Pate and Robert Tollett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Tollett, Emmitt White, Roy Coleman and Billy Davis.
Funeral Services for Mr. Tollett will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2013, in the Bissell Chapel Church with Larry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Bissell Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 24th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Ethel Estelle Houser
Ethel Estelle Houser, age 82, a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Ashdown.
She was born July 10, 1930 in Lockesburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Mattie Jester Houser; one brother, J.T. Houser; and a sister and brother-in-law, Eva Mae and Paul F. Barefield.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Robbie Houser of Lockesburg; four nieces, Rhonda Porcaro of Ashdown, Brenda Posey of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Patsy Havins of Lockesburg and Diane Johnson of Del Rio, Texas; a number of great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and her family at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2013, in the Belleville Cemetery
with Pastor Pat Ward and Robert Posey officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Lon (Babe) Young
Lon (Babe) Young, 75, of Nashville, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 in Nashville. He was born on June 6, 1937 in Dierks, AR, the son of the late Carl Young and Dora (Barnes) Young.
Lon graduated Dierks High School where he made All-State in football his senior year. He attended SAU college. He worked for almost two years for the FBI in Washington, DC. He retired after 33 years from Briar Plant as a shipping foreman. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball. One of his favorite past times was “wheeling and dealing” in the cattle business. He was an avid sport’s fan, whether watching them on tv or supporting the local teams. For the last several years, he spent many hours playing cards and dominoes at the Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Junior Young and Doyle “Bunk” Young.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sara (Haynes) Young of Nashville; his children, Billy Shofner of Nashville, Todd Young and wife, Marcie of Andrews, TX, Tammy Bowden and husband Duane of Nashville, and Karen Shofner of Little Rock; five grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Brooke and Brady Bowden, Nick, Noah,
and Noelle Young; one sister, Jean Runge and husband, Bob of Hurst, TX; and one sister-in-law, Helen Young of De Queen. A host of nieces, nephews, and special friends also mourn his passing.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Latimer funeral home. Services will be on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Nashville with Bro. Billy Dawson and Bro Glen Green officiating. Burial to follow in Restland Memorial Park under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.

Charles Dennis Lambert
Charles Dennis Lambert, age 77, of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, May 17, 2013 at his home.
Dennis was born July 22, 1935 in Point Cedar Community near Amity, Arkansas, where he was raised in the Baptist faith.
He retired from Pilgrim’s Pride.
Mr. Lambert was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Ernest and Annie Partridge Lambert; wife of 45 years, Nancy Forrest Lambert; daughter, Rose Busby and a sister, Reba Stephens.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Lambert; daughter and son-in-law, Krista and Bill Ward; step children, Steve and (Kellie) Johnson and Shari Penney and (Larry Getsinger); grandchildren, Brandon and Kandice Ward, Tripp and Tate Penney, Cory Johnson, Dennise Burgess, Lela Galeana, Mitch Wade, Sherri Busby; great grandchildren, Bailey Ward, Payzlee Ward Levi and Blake Vaughn, Isabella and Allessia Galeana, Alex, Bree and Michael Wade, Heidi Busby and Kaydence Vaughn; brothers-in-law, Rayburn Stephens and Roy, Steve and Donald Forrest; nieces and nephews, Gary Stephens and (Marriane), Brian Stephens and (Fran), Angie Benningfield and (Stephen), Ronnie Stephens and (Sylvia), Lisa Conde and (Willie) and Craig Stephens and (Tonya); lifetime friend, Richard Palmer.

Mary Jo Sharp Bernard
Mary Jo Sharp Bernard, age 72, of Lockesburg, died Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Mena Manor Nursing and Rehab. She was born on Saturday, November 23, 1940 to Lloyd Elliott and Minnie Lea Cannon Sharp in Texarkana, Texas.
Mary Jo was a lovable person and enjoyed talking to her friends. It was said she had “The gift for gab.” She never met a stranger and was always friendly and loved to laugh. She loved to travel and went to every state in the United States except 2 in the lower 48 states. Mary Jo loved to go antiquing and was always look for a treasure. She enjoyed making them look new again. She enjoyed shopping and sewing. She graduated from Texarkana College with studies in Accounting. She was very proud of this accomplishment. She was also proud of her children and grandchildren. They brought her great joy. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Mary Jo is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leslie Bernard.
Mary Jo is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Janette Bernard of Lockesburg; one daughter, Betty Jones of Lockesburg; grandchildren Amy and Daniel Frady of Cerrogordo, Arkansas, Tiffany Jones of Lockesburg, Jody and Kelly Jones of Clarksville, Texas, Justin and Ashley Jones of Ashdown, Dustin Bernard and Hailey Schooley of Lockesburg, Jared and Julia Bernard of Russellville, Jeremy Jones of Lockesburg and Dillon Mock and Charlie Ann Mock both of Mena; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Lockesburg Cemetery
in the Coulter Addition with Brother Justin Leonard officiating. No public viewing.
A reception will be held after the services at the family’s residence in Lockesburg. All friends and family are invited.
Pallbearers will be Jody Jones, Justin Jones, Dustin Bernard, Jared Bernard, Jeremy Jones and Dillon Mock.
Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.
Bobby Joe Parson
Bobby Joe Parson, age 65, a resident of Bellevue, Nebraska, and former resident of De Queen, died December 31, 2012.
He was born to Melvin Ruvell “Pete” and Mary Jones “Chuck” Parson in De Queen, Arkansas on April 25, 1947. He was a 1966 graduate of De Queen High School, and served his country in The U. S. Air Force, retiring as Master Sergeant. He also retired from the State of Nebraska in May of 2012. Bobby was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan and also a fan of Green Bay Packers and Chicago Clubs. He enjoyed fishing and listening to country music recorded before 1960.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Barnes Parson of Bellevue, Nebraska, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff and Christine Parson of New Albany, Ohio, and Todd Parson of Papillion, Nebraska. He was “Pa” to his four grandchildren, Gage, Clay, Brody, and Colin. He is also survived by his mother, Mary “Chuck” Parson of De Queen, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Kathy Parson of Little Rock, Ark., Ricky Lynn and Donna Parson, and Jerry Ruvell Parson all of De Queen; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Melvin Uzzell of Memphis, Tenn., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services for Mr. Bobby Parson will be held at 6:00 P.M., Friday, May 24th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen, Arkansas.
