Thomas Ray Reed
Mr. Thomas Ray Reed, age 82, a resident of Little River Club, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at his home.
He was born to George and Cleo Hill Reed at Mineral Springs, Arkansas, on August 9, 1930. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Army. He was retired manager Of Ark-La-Tex Prosthesis and a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Reed enjoyed playing golf, coaching little league baseball, was a basketball referee for 25 years. He refereed the All Stars in Little Rock, and served on Silver Haired Legislation in Little Rock.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Dellinger Reed, his parents, and two brothers, Jerry Reed and David Reed.
He is survived by his wife of over 32 years, Shirley Jean Reed of Little River Club, three sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Vickie Reed of Texarkana, Arkansas; Randy and Debbie Reed of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Jackie Reed of Texarkana, Arkansas, a daughter, Sherry Young of Hope, Arkansas, three step-sons and their spouses, James and Beverly Knight of Greensburg, Kentucky, Billy and Phyliss Knight of Mineral Springs, Arkansas, and David Knight of Amity, Arkansas, A sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Jim Martin of Chandler, Oklahoma, 11 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by very special friends, Jim and Janice Hodge of De Queen and Kirby Hinton of De Queen.
A private memorial service will be at later date.
Earl Gregory Arthur
Earl Gregory Arthur, age 90, of Texarkana, Texas, died Monday, February 4, 2013 in a veteran’s nursing home in Bonham, Texas.
Mr. Arthur was born November 17, 1922 in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. He was retired from the United States Army having served in World World II, a veteran of Pearl Harbor, Atomic Veteran and served at Guadalcanal. Also retired from D&E/ TO& E Railroad. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Elizabeth Arthur, two brothers: James Arthur, Justus Arthur and one sister: Anna Wolfe.
He is survived by his wife: Sandra Arthur of Texarkana, Texas; three daughters: Patricia Rickard of Seattle, Washington; Dannie Bergeron of Zephyrhills, Florida; Vickie Walkup of Dade City, Florida; two stepsons and daughters-in-law: Dennis and Janet Holmes of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; Jeff and Mary Holmes of De Queen, Arkansas, a brother, Godfrey Arthur of Jackson, Georgia; One sister: Pauline Winand of Hanover, Pennsylvania; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P. M. Friday, February 8, 2013 at Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 P. M. to 7:30 P. M.

Johnnie Faye Merworth Heiman
Mrs. Johnnie Faye Merworth Heiman, age 84, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, February 2, 2013, in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born to Floyd Emory and Effie Ethel Dennington Merworth at DeKalb, Texas, on February 13, 1928. She was a retired employee of the De Queen School System, as well as a homemaker. Mrs. Heiman was a member of the De Queen Church of Christ, and enjoyed crocheting, playing dominoes, and making a vegetable garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 50 years James V. Heiman, a son, Jerry Glenn Heiman, and a sister, Bobbie Barnes.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Don and Cecilia Heiman of Granbury, Texas, four daughters and a son-in-law, Charlotte Ann Barnachez of Norman, Okla., Janet Heiman of De Queen, Marilyn Graves of Irving, Texas, and Paula and Marty Smith of De Queen, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, including her grandson and caregiver, Paul Lee of De Queen, three great-great-grandchildren, and was expecting two more great-grandbabies. Mrs. Heiman is also survived by a brother, Harace Merworth of Eagletown, Okla., and two sisters, Marie McPherson of New Boston, Texas, and Jean Williams of Broken Bow, Okla.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Johnnie Heiman will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013 In the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Van Ledbetter, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, February 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Johnny Joseph Akins
Johnny Joseph Akins, age 91, a resident of Foreman, Arkansas died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at his home.
He was born May 25, 1921 in Foreman. He was retired from Ash Grove Cement Plant and a member of the Foreman Church of Christ.
Mr. Akins was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Irene Elizabeth Carrell Akins; his parents; two sons, Henry Joseph Akins and Johnny Joseph Akins Jr.; one granddaughter, Misti Dawn Akins McAllister; two brothers, Willie Akins and Cecil Akins; three sisters, Lovie Carrell, Dovie Estept and Annie Akins.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James and Wilda Knighten Akins of Foreman; one daughter-in-law, Katie Gabbard Akins of Foreman; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Angela and Victor Martin of De Queen, Chad and Kayla Akins of Foreman, Jonathan Akins of De Queen, Michael Akins, Suzanne Akins Milam and Andrew Akins all of Foreman; nine great-grandchildren, Justin and Cassandra Kennedy, Derek Kennedy, and Matthew Martin all of De Queen, Garet Akins, Kory Akins, Kathryn Milam and Pyper Akins all of Foreman, and Kristin Akins and Dylan Akins both of Longview, Texas; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaylee Kennedy and Joseph Kennedy both of De Queen and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Akins will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013 in the Foreman Church of Christ with Billy Blakeney officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackland Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 6th at the funeral home.
Bertha “Bert” Lou Kammer Crump
Bertha “Bert” Lou Kammer Crump, age 77, a resident of Sheridan, Arkansas, formerly of De Queen, Arkansas (yet always a Texan at heart) died January 30, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
She was born July 17, 1935 in Mirando City, Texas, to Roy Alphon and Verna Etta Kammer.
She was retired and a member of Moore’s Chapel Church in Sheridan, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Floyd J. (Jr.) Crump and a step-daughter, Carolyn Springer, both of Sheridan, Arkansas.
She is survived by one sister, Betty Dubose of College Station, Texas, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Barbara Kammer of San Antonio, Texas and Bob and Frieda Kammer of Calliham, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Verna and Orville Smith of De Queen, Arkansas, Diane and Doug Schafer of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Vickie and Wesley Lalleman of Hot Springs, Arkansas and one son and daughter-in-law, R.A. “Rolo” and Ann Phillips of Granbury, Texas, one step-son, and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 4, 2013 at Moore’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Sheridan with Pastor Lindsey Saenz officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 preceding the funeral service.

Pattie Elizabeth Hedden
Mrs. Pattie Elizabeth Patrick Hedden, age 87, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, January 31, 2013, in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born to Laz Houston and Elma McKenzie Patrick in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on September 9, 1925. She was a retired sales clerk and a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, and enjoyed reading, quilting, and traveling.
Mrs. Hedden was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, John Hampton Hedden.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, John E. Hedden of Hattiesburg, Miss., Pat and Ouida Hedden of Gulf Port, Miss, and Glenn Hedden of De Queen, a daughter, Judy Griffin of Horatio, ten grandchildren, Patricia, Marty, Jonathan, Michele, Patrick, Jr., Shauna, Richie, Sue, Carrie, and John, seventeen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Sidney Earl Cannon
Mr. Sidney Earl Cannon, age 86, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, January 30th at his home.
He was born to Jim Henry and Minnie Parkerson Cannon in De Queen, Arkansas, on August 14, 1926. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Navy. He was retired from Campbell Taggart, Inc., where he served as manager of mechanical research, with 25 years service. He was a member of the De Queen Church of Christ, and enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, watching football, and traveling.
Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by his parents, his twin, Charles Edward Cannon, his other siblings, Willie G. Cannon, Verna Smith, Louise Peek, and Virginia Theo Cannon.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Sidney L. “Rusty” Cannon of Bedford, Texas, and Mike and Debbie Cannon of The Colony, Texas, six grandchildren, David Michael Cannon, Russell Wayne Cannon, Michael Baggs, Jeff and his wife, Stephanie Cannon, Greg Cannon, and Sarah Cannon, five great-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Rev. James and Wilma Cannon of Lockesburg, a sister, Magel House of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.

with Van Ledbetter, Minister officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, February 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
Charles L. Eudy
Charles L. Eudy, age 75, of Norman, died Sunday, January 27, 2013.
He was born on October 15, 1937 at Dierks, the son of Ruby Eudy and Essie Westbrook Eudy. On October 31, 1958, he was married to Shirley Head. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Clarice Roden and Janice Duggan; and one brother, Herschel Eudy.
He was a member of the Norman United Methodist Church where, at one time, he had served as pastor as well as pastor of the Oden United Methodist Church. He was very active in VIM, Volunteers in Missions, a missions organization of the United Methodist Church, and had traveled extensively abroad and at home on volunteer mission assignments. He also served as a former district governor with the Lions Club International.
He was known for his storytelling and as an accomplished musician and singer. He served as Co-Chairman of the Howard County Centennial Celebration and was awarded "Salesman of the Year" for several years in a row with Weyerhaeuser. After his retirement, he still enjoyed his employment with Wal-Mart. In 2009, he was named Montgomery County "Man of the Year". He graduated from Southern State College with a Bachelors degree in chemistry and was an Army National Guard veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Eudy of Norman; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Eudy of Nashville; his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Jeff Black of Fort Smith; his brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Connie Eudy of Sherwood; his sister and brother-in-law, Audrey Sue and Larry House of Dierks; three grandchildren, Samantha Black of Fort Smith, Wheeler Eudy and Jazy-Rose Eudy, both of Nashville; two nephews that lived in their home, Darrell Roden of Nashville and Alan Roden of DeQueen; several other nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 1, 2013, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Rev. Paul Coy and Rev. Will Bradford officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Head Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Graves, Howard Graves, George Head, Paul Head, Joffery Putman and Rick Pruitt.
Memorials may be made to the Norman United Methodist Church or Alzheimer's Association.
Mrs. Bobbie Casey
Mrs. Bobbie Jean Hazel Casey, age 83, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in Dierks Health & Rehab, Dierks, Ark.
She was born in Conroe, Texas, on October 5, 1929, to Huey and Stella Wilkerson Hazelwood. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed shopping, reading, and crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband, Clyde B. Casey, a daughter, Stella Jean Neuse, and a grandchild, Terry Michael Casey.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Viki Casey of De Queen, and terry Dean and Connie Casey of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., six grandchildren, Amber Diane Fortner of Ormond Beach, Fla., Christy Casey of Fort Worth, Texas, Teresa Aldred of Daytona Beach, Fla., Matthew Day Casey of De Queen, Chris Neuse of Fort Worth, Texas, and Kasey Delafuente of Dallas, Texas. Seven great-grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside Memorial Services for Mrs. Bobbie Casey will be held in Conroe Memorial gardens, Conroe, Texas at a later date.
