Nellie Ruth Rogers Dailey
Mrs. Nellie Ruth Rogers Dailey, age 97, a resident of Hot Springs, Arkansas and formerly of De Queen died Sunday, July 15, 2012 in Hot Springs.
She was born July 9, 1915 in Hallsville, Texas. She was the retired owner of Dailey’s Antiques and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Dailey was preceded in death by her parents, Claude T. and Effie Williamson Rogers; her husband, Aubrey Lee Dailey; a son, Stanley Brian Dailey and a daughter, Starla Dean Dailey.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Shirrell Sparks of Eustace, Texas, Vicky and Wilmer Clifton of Canton, Texas and Linda and Michael Shaw of Cleburne, Texas; five sons and daughters-in-law, Mike Dailey of Arlington, Texas, Bernard and Anita Robinson of Coppell, Texas, Dale and Judy Dailey of Texarkana, Texas, Donald and Katherine Dailey of Malvern, Arkansas and Tom and Peggy Dailey of De Queen, Arkansas. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Dailey of Texarkana as well as a large number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Dailey will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in the De Queen Church of Christ with Van Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Vivian Kathleen McDaniel ”Kathy” Adair
Mrs. Vivian Kathleen McDaniel ”Kathy” Adair, age 52, a resident of El Dorado, Arkansas, died on Tuesday, July 10th in Life Touch Hospice, El Dorado, Ark.
She was born to Iris Winford and Della Louise Cooper McDaniel in De Queen, Arkansas, on October 15, 1959. She was a teacher and a paraprofessional in the El Dorado School System, and was a member of the West Side Baptist Church of El Dorado, Arkansas. She enjoyed reading, arts, crafts, traveling, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gabe Adair, and a brother, Gilbert McDaniel.
She is survived by her husband, Al Adair, Jr. of El Dorado, Ark.; a son, Benjamin Corey Adair of El Dorado, Ark.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amy Samantha Shaffer and Britteny DeAnn and Chris Ruff all of El Dorado, Ark.; three grandchildren, Lukas Humphreys, Owen Shaffer, and Daphne Ruff, five brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Wanda McDaniel of Jacksonville, Ark., Mac and Linda McDaniel of De Queen, Elvis and Linda McDaniel of Broken Bow, Okla., Gary and Wanda McDaniel of Franklin, North Carolina, and Stephen McDaniel of Norman, Oklahoma; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Allene Reid of Oklahoma City, Okla, Leila Deal of Broken Bow, Okla., Macy and Kenneth Hardaway of Battiest, Okla.; Martha Russo of Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic, and Kay and Rick Wilson of Broken Bow, Okla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Kathy Adair will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, July 13th in the Pickens Assembly of God Church, Pickens, Okla. with Bro. Larry Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Battiest Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Thursday, July 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
Arlis Paul Smith, Sr.
Mr. Arlis Paul Smith, Sr., age 83, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in Brookewood Nursing and Rehab.
He was born to Jessie Ray and Fronnie Elizabeth Hendricks Smith on March 18, 1929. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U. S. 
Army, and was a retired farmer and mechanic. He enjoyed fox hunting, deer hunting, and animals, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Roy Smith, Linden Smith, and Bonnie Smith.
He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Mary Kitchens Smith of De Queen, three sons and daughters-in-law, Arlis Paul Smith, Jr. and Katherine of De Queen, Steven Lee and Teresa Smith of Fulton, Arkansas, and Martin “Marty” and Paula Smith also of De Queen, eight grandchildren, Kishanda Beasley, Sean Amos Smith, Amanda Brewer, Jami Smith, Rachelle Taylor, Kammilla Taylor, Nathan Burk, and Crystal Castenada, nine great-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Judy Smith of De Queen, a sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Ray Sims of De Queen, two sister-in-law, Joyce Smith and Jane Smith both of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Arlis Smith will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 13h in the Mt. Ida Cemetery with Bro. Charles Ligon officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Thursday, July 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
John William “Dub” Chandler
Mr. John William “Dub” Chandler, age 80, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Friday, July 6th in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.
He was born in Horatio, Arkansas, on March 30, 1932, to Frank and Lona Lee Griggs Chandler. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U. S. Navy on the USS William M. Seiverling, and was a retired barber at Gehri’s Barber Shop. He was a member of the Rockwood Assembly of God Church in Portland, Oregon, and attended the First Assembly of God in Horatio. His passion was playing music. He played and sang at the local nursing homes for 33 years, and was voted Volunteer of the Year just this year. He also enjoyed reading and watching sports, especially the Texas Rangers.
Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kevin Chandler, and his siblings, Grace Love, Randy Chandler, and Franklin Chandler.
He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Carol Erickson Chandler of De Queen, a daughter, Victoria Chandler of San Diego, Calif.; his three grandchildren; Daphnie West of Chickasha, Okla., Crystal Cunningham, and Danielle Du’pre both of San Diego, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Terrance Romby, Tiana Cunningham, Logan West and Rebecka West, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Noel D. and Sandy Chandler of Brenham, Texas, and Lawrence and Marian Chandler of De Queen, three sisters, Ruth Dorsey of De Queen, Becky Allen of Gonzalez, La., and Lois Wray of Cooper, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews, as well as other family members.
Funeral Services for Mr. Dub Chandler will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 11th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shane Haarmeyer officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Sybil Arleen Godwin Staggs
Mrs. Sybil Arleen Godwin Staggs, age 78, a resident of Fayetteville, Ark., and former resident of Lockesburg, died Wednesday, July 4th in Washington Regional Medical Center Hospice, Fayetteville, Ark. She was born on November 29, 1932 in De Queen, Arkansas, to Walter and Ella Godwin.
Those that have loved her well and still remain here in this present life are her husband, Arlie L. Staggs, her children, daughter, Beverly Staggs Worley, and husband, Kevin of Fayetteville, Arkansas, daughter, Lisa Staggs Gaddy of Rogers, Ark. and nephew, Jeff Staggs of Fayetteville, Ark. Her grandchildren that she adored and p rayed for daily. Michael Gaddy and his wife Amy of Springdale, Ark., Drew Gaddy, Ashton Worley, Tyler Gaddy and Kolton Worley all of Fayetteville, Ark.; her sister, Shirley Staggs, her sister and brother-in-law, Tommy and Judy Moore, her sister and brother-in-law, Jay and Peggy Jones and her brother and sister-in-law, Gailon and Jamie Godwin all of De Queen, Ark. She loved, prayed for and adored all of her nieces and nephews, Tracy and Patty Nealy, Jeff and Carla Wahls, Cory Godwin of De Queen, Ark., Derek and Jessica Ballard of Texarkana, Texas. Brady and Nikki Ballard of Pearcy, Ark., Rick and Melody Halter of Rogers, Ark.. All of her cousins were as Special to her as siblings and she looked forward every year to the cousins reunion and all the wonderful times Spent together on the Buffalo River in Branson, Missouri. Traveling with cousins and dear friends all over the USA filled many wonderful hours of adventure.
Sybil graduated from De Queen High School where she was a proud Leopard. One of the great joys of her life was Leopard Reunions to catch back up with schoolmates and friends from childhood. She moved to Dallas after graduation to attend Draughon Business College. On September 2, 1951, she married her sweetheart of now 63 years, Arlie L. Staggs and began a long life of God-filled adventures which took them through the Air Force and Letourneau University in Longview, Tex., then Swepco to Shreveport and finally to Fayetteville, Arkansas, she worked as an administrative assistant at Bates Elementary for the Fayetteville Public Schools until she retired in 1976.
Her greatest rewards came through serving in the church, wherever she was. As a member of the First Baptist Church in Lockesburg, Ark., it was one of greatest joys to lead the Dorcas Sunday School Class and participate in Women’s Missionary Union and Tuesday morning prayer group. At Immanuel Baptist Church in Fayetteville, she led the Cradle Roll department for the nursery ministry and worked with the youth department. When they returned to Fayetteville after some years in contract work she became a faithful and dedicated member of the University Baptist Church, serving alongside her husband in the deacon family ministry. She spent many hours assisting in all the ministries and events for families, greeting families in the children’s areas on Sunday mornings and working with the Hospitality team. She loved ministering to senior adults and led the Marry Hearts group for two years. She and Arlie were active members of the Fayetteville Senior Center where they both enjoyed some wonderful friendships and activities as well as delivering Meals on Wheels for the past ten years. She was the Auxilary president for the Gideons International helping to distribute Bibles and New Testaments all around the world.
Visitation will be held at Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville on Friday, July 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, July 8th in the First Baptist Church of Lockesburg with Brother Jack Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lockesburg, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Jessa Leigh Clenney
Jessa Leigh Clenney, infant daughter of Jeff And Lisa Clift Clenney, residents of Horatio, died Tuesday, July 3rd in the Christus St. Michael Hospital.
Besides her parents, Jessa is survived by five sisters, Tessa Gentry, Taylor Gentry and Tori Gentry all of Horatio, Scierra Clenney and Autumn Clenney both of Malvern, Ark; her grandparents, Gary and Brenda Clift of Horatio and Linda Scroggins of Malvern, her great- grandfather, A. J. Setliff of Horatio, Ark.

Ima Odessia Coffey Kitchens Prather
Mrs. Ima Odessia Coffey Kitchens Prather, age 92, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Monday, July 2, 2012 at her home.
She was born February 7, 1920 in Antimony City, Arkansas. She worked in the poultry industry for many years and was a member of the Almond Church of God.
Mrs. Prather was preceded in death by her parents, Carter and Goldia Mae Almond Coffey; her two husbands, Ted A. Kitchens and Albert P. (Big Boy) Prather; two brothers, Urstin and Burley Coffey; four sisters, Illfay Frachiseur, Dorothy Jackson, Melba Dockins and Vernona Hargis; two sons, Lavoy and Clois Kitchens; one daughter, Violet Richards; two grandsons, Brian James and Michael Kitchens; and four step-sons, Ted, Tommy, Jake and Henry (Tooks) Kitchens.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrel Truman and Susan Kitchens and Cleatis and Barbara Kitchens; four daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda Chenoweth, Majol Wheeler, Gerselta Halter and Laveda and Johnny Reed; 22 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Prather will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Steven Chenoweth and Edward Kitchens officiating. Burial will follow in the Burg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 4th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Gerry Lynn Martin
Mr. Gerry Lynn Martin of the Blodgett Community passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He was born January 12, 1948 in Deport, Texas, the son of James Matthew and Arthur Lysirria (Jones) Martin.
Gerry attended school in Rivercrest and was employed by Texas Utilities Mining Company. He was an avid fisherman and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Leda J. (Davis) Martin; two daughters, Risa Lynn Martin Jones of Mount Vernon, Texas and Julie LaNell Martin of Little Elm, Texas; two step-children, Lisa Morgan of Texarkana, Texas and Buster Roberts of Dierks, Arkanasas; grandchildren, Rhett Jones, Ricky Jones, Heather Chandler and Jake Morgan; one sister and brother-in-law, Nelda Rose & Ken Williams of Slidell, Louisana. He is preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Rudolf, Vernon, Jackie and Bobby Martin.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 20, 2012, at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel.
Beulah Clardy Billingslea
Mrs. Beulah Clardy Billingslea, age 99, a resident of Lockesburg, Ark., died Monday, June 25th in the Little River Memorial Hospital of Ashdown.
She was born to Hardy Bank and Lula Delilah Turrentine Clardy at Lockesburg, Arkansas, on November 5, 1912. She was a graduate of Silver Ridge High School in Lockesburg. She was a retired beautician, and owned and operated Beulah’s Beauty Salon in Tulsa for many years. She was a member of the Prince if Peace Lutheran Church of Tulsa, and enjoyed traveling and playing board games.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leroy Billingslea, and all her siblings, Harold Cardy, Edna Whitmore, Leora Brooks, Vera O’Neal, Demetris West, Doretha Johnson, Irene Montique, and Thelma Bell.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including Skip Bell, Billy Ray Bell, Theo Clardy, and Steven Lindsey, Carolyn Halsell, Ricky Bell, June Lampkin, Crystal Bell, Bonnie Bell, and Angela Bell of Lockesburg.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 28th in the Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Tulsa, Okla. with Mrs. Carolyn Perkins officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Cecil D. “Shorty” Hobbs
Mr. Cecil D. “Shorty” Hobbs, age 81, a resident of De Queen, Ark., died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at his home.
He was born to Izzie Otho and Mattie Beatrice Allen Hobbs at Tishomingo, Oklahoma, on May 18, 1931. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser Company Treating Plant with over 37 years service, and was a member of Kern Heights Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Austin and Cordell Hobbs, and a great-grandson, Dakota VanHoose.
He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Dorothy House Hobbs of De Queen, two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Lee Von Gilbert and Celia and Wayne Montgomery all of De Queen, a brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Jo Hobbs of De Queen, four grandchildren, Lavonda Icenhower, Wendy VanHoose, Trevor Montgomery, and Tara Montgomery all of De Queen, five great-grandchildren, Dalton, Garrett, Cody, Dylan, and Hunter, two great-great-grandchildren, Lillian and Declan, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Cecil Hobbs will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 26th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rusty Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, June 25th.
