Mrs. Rosa Lee Turner Jones West, age 78, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Friday, May 25, 2012 in Dierks.
She was born July 7, 1933 in Howard Co., Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Holly Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Bell Kesterson Turner; her husbands, Weslie D. Jones and Harley West; and two brothers, Dale Turner and Milburn Turner.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Roma Linda and Gary Bryant of West Monroe, Louisiana and Rebecca Lynn and Dennis Sirmon of Dierks; two brothers, George Turner of Texarkana and James Turner of Dierks; three sisters, Jane Comstock of Dierks, Mary Vance of Brinkley, Arkansas and Kaye Reynaud of Hughes Springs, Texas; two grandchildren, Bridget Wilson and husband Toby of Sheridan, Arkansas and Adam Sirmon of Dierks; two great grandchildren, Isaac Wilson and Isabella Wilson; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. West will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012 in the Bissell Chapel Cemetery
with Bro. Doyle Clifton officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the funeral home.
Rosa Lee Gillespie Bailey
Mrs. Rosa Lee Gillespie Bailey, age 76, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born February 6, 1936 in Gilmer, Texas. She was a homemaker and farmer, a member of the Union Quilting Club, the Sevier County Extension Homemakers Club, and the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in De Queen.
Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Daisy Davidson Gillespie; and a brother, Dick Gillespie.
She is survived by her husband, R.L. Bailey; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Deborah Bailey and Richard and Debbie Bailey, all of De Queen; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Barry Waddell of Windsor, Colorado; one sister, Nancy Sisk of De Queen; six grandchildren, Wayne, Sarabeth, Erin, Will, Bailey and Blaire; and three great-grandchildren, Gracie, Ava and Lynnlee.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bailey will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Carlton and Rev. Jason Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in the Belleville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 at the funeral home.

Stella Mae Tedford Friend
Mrs. Stella Mae Tedford Friend, age 90, a resident of Dierks and former resident of De Queen, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, in the Dierks Health & Rehab, Dierks.
She was born to William and Flossie Turner Tedford at Nashville, Arkansas, on December 17, 1921. She was a former employee of the Howard County Mfg. Co., a retired employee of Weyerhaeuser Company, as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed crafts, bingo, board games, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. Stella was a member of the Dierks Church of Christ, and when she moved to De Queen, she was a member of the De Queen Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Friend, a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Charlene Friend, a grandson, Russell Hall, her parents, and all of her siblings.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda & Randy Hall of De Queen, Betty and Terry Grinage of Texarkana, Ark., her adopted daughter, Peggy Moore of Texarkana, Texas; six grandchildren, Michael Hall, Shelly Roberts, and Beth Lummus all of Texarkana, Gary Hall of De Queen, Angela Jones of Mineral Springs, Ark.; and Randy Friend of Fort Smith, Ark.; eleven great-grandchildren, and three great- great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Stella Friend will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 24th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen. with Tommy Mounts, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Dierks Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, July 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will be at the home of Randy & Linda Hall, 233 Hall Road, Lockesburg, AR 71846

Helen Maurice Phillips McRae
Mrs. Helen Maurice Phillips McRae, age 92, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at her home.
She was born December 22, 1919 in the Chapel Hill Community in De Queen. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ, De Queen.
Mrs. McRae was preceded in death by her parents, David and Ruby Little Phillips; one daughter, Peggy Ann McRae; one sister, Louise Carlton Clemens; two brothers, J.B. Phillips and Glen “Pete” Phillips; and one great-granddaughter, Sara Morgan McRae.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Coleman McRae; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Loretta McRae of De Queen; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lola Lawrence of Horatio, Sylvia and Frank McDonald of Foreman, Arkansas, and Cathy and Mike Meadows of El Dorado, Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Kim Lawrence Morris, Sandy Barksdale, Jeff McRae, Philip McRae, Jami Johnson, Alan Meadows, Clint Meadows, Frank A. McDonald, Tommy McDonald and Maurisa Kennedy; 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McRae will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the Church of Christ, De Queen with Van Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Harold Edwin Simmons
Mr. Harold Edwin Simmons, age 71, a resident of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born January 08, 1941 in the Burg Community near Umpire, Arkansas. He was a member of the Beech Street Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas. He was semi-retired and had an Ebay business selling cowboy boots.
Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents, Johnie Bartley and Melissa Gerline Kesterson Simmons.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Henson Simmons; three daughters and a son-in-law, Kim and Todd Carver of Falls Chapel, Arkansas, Debbie Turner of Ashdown, Arkansas and Teresa Thornton of Lockesburg, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Eliza Simmons of Ashdown, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny Ray and Kathy Simmons of Dierks, Arkansas; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Mike Carver of Lockesburg; four step children, Brenda Winchester, Mary Kay Stephens, James and Billy Mullino; sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
Funeral Services for Mr. Simmons will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen, Arkansas with Craig Jenkens and Bob Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Burg Cemetery

Jason Craig Pond
Mr. Jason Craig Pond, age 31, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Wednesday, July 18th in Horatio.
He was born to Earl LeRoy and Patsy Martin Pond at De Queen, Arkansas, on September 25, 1980. He was a carpenter, and enjoyed fishing, watching TV, and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl LeRoy Pond and his grandparents, Virgil and Marie Martin and James Walter and LaVern Pond.
Jason is survived by his mother and step-father, Patsy and Glenn Cockrum of De Queen, a brother and sister-in-law, James and Chavon Pond of Horatio, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cynthia and Danny Gregory of De Queen, and Melissa and Jacob Atwood of Horatio, two nephews, five nieces, two great-nieces and two great-nephews, as well as other family members.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Jason Pond will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21st In the Harmony Cemetery
near New Hope, Ark., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 20th.
Alfred "Freddie" Cook
Alfred Freddie Cook of Cove, AR was born to George Lofton Cook & Mary Esther Ward Cook on October 15, 1932 as one of the first recorded birth of quadruplets in Polk County and the second recorded quadruplet birth in Arkansas History. He went to be with his Lord on July 14, 2012 at age 79 years, 9 months.
He was a loving son, husband, daddy, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all who knew him. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, after which he returned home to begin his career in the poultry business at Lane Poultry, where he was a supervisor for more than 26 years. He then worked in Real Estate in Arkansas and Oklahoma for several years before retiring in 2011. Freddie was, above all, a loving family man. His life revolved around his wife, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces & nephews. He loved sports and was an avid bowler, enjoying the fellowship with friends more than the game itself.
Survivors include his wife, of the home, Melba Jean Williamson Cook, Daughters: Vicky & Darrell Titsworth of Mena, Louise & Jerry Boschert, of Pasadena, TX, Joy & Billy Fortner, of Cove, AR, Paula & David Cox, of Hatton, AR, Lydell & Joe Garza of Mena, AR., Step children that he loved as his own: Angie & Roger Walton, Yukon, OK, Kevin & Renee Ward of Yukon, OK, Brian and Ranju Ward of Bethany, OK 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren & numerous step grand & great grandchildren, that he loved as his own. Sister: Mary Gouner of Baytown, TX. Numerous nieces & nephews and countless friends. Freddie was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Alvie Joe & Albert Ray (2 of the quadruplets), Garland, Harley, & James; Sisters: Alma Mae Stevens (1 of the quadruplets), Tima Lou Duke & Ruby Jewell.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 18, 2012, 10am at Beasley Wood Funeral Home with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. Interment follows at Pleasant Grove Cemetery
in Cove. Arrangements entrusted to the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012, 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Russell DePriest, Adam DePriest, Lee Titsworth, Tony Higgins, Rob McMellon, and Randall Cook. Honorary pallbearers Kason Anderson, Matthew Ward, and Mark Ward.
Patti Fortner Rogers
Patti Rogers, age 54, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012 in Mena.
She was born October 18, 1957 in Mena, Arkansas to the late Owen Fortner and to Helen Britton Fortner. She was united in marriage to Ron Rogers. She was a waitress and a homemaker and was a member of the Cove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
