George Frank Halliday

George Frank Halliday, age 54, a resident of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at his home.

He was born October 9, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas. He was employed at Domtar and was a rancher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Frederick and Doris Rae Whipple Halliday; his wife, Vicki Halliday in 2008, and a granddaughter, Braylee Jo Tallant.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dewayne and Kim Halliday of Du Quoin, Illinois; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Harless Carver of Foreman, Arkansas and Melinda and Chris Tallant of Cerro Gordo; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mark and Wanda Halliday of Hope, Arkansas and Bryan Halliday; his fiancé, Penny Morton of Cerro Gordo; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Halliday will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 in the State Line Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will be at the Halliday home, 616 LR 77 in Cerro Gordo.

Miza Laverne Branson Morphew

Mrs. Miza Laverne Branson Morphew, age 86, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born November 7, 1925 in Gillham, Arkansas. She taught in the Gillham School System for 35 years and she was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church in Grannis.

Mrs. Morphew was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Lola Davis Branson; her husband, James Winford Morphew; and one brother, Frank Branson.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Karen Morphew of Eagletown, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Gina Leeper and her husband Jason Leeper of Texarkana, Arkansas; one grandson, Shad Morphew of Plainview, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, L.B. and Mary Branson of Pasa Robles, California; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Branson of Eagletown, Oklahoma; and four great-grandchildren, Spencer Leeper, Scarlett Leeper, Jayce Winford Leeper and Hannah Grace Leeper.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Morphew will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012 in the Millcreek Cemetery near Gillham with Richard Leach officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11th at the funeral home.

Willie Fred Lemons

Mr. Willie Fred Lemons, age 78, a resident of Nashville, Arkansas died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in the Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville.

He was born April 5, 1934 in Centerpoint, Arkansas. He was a retired employee of the Briar Gypsum Plant, a cattle and chicken farmer, he served in the U.S. Army and was a Baptist.

Mr. Lemons was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Benjamin and Liza Jane Wilson Lemons.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Christine Bailey Lemons of Nashville, Arkansas; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John and Renee Lemons of Centerpoint, Arkansas, Earl and Tana Lemons and Lee Lemons all of Nashville; one daughter and son-in-law, DeAnn and Gary Simmons of Nashville; two sisters, Eula Gardner of Dierks, Arkansas and Shirley Davis of Spiro, Oklahoma; one brother, Charles Lemons of Nashville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. Lemons will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2012 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks. Burial will follow in the Sunshine Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 12th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Danny Joe "Cotton" Morris

Mr. Danny Joe "Cotton" Morris, age 61, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at his home.

He was born October 16, 1950 in Dierks. He was a truck driver for James Harris trucking and a member of the Omega Ministry in Dierks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and Razorback sports.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle Elmer and Ella Parson Morris and one brother, Mackey Ray Morris.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bob Morris; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry Ray "Peewee" and Cristy Morris; two grandchildren, Hailey Nicole "Comet" and Jake Douglas Morris all of Dierks; one brother and sister-in-law, Merle "Boke" and Patti Morris Dierks; one sister Jackey Kay Morris of Kenai, Alaska and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service for Mr. Morris will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the Wiilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetry.

The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 p.m., Friday April 13th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Joe Charles Roberts

Mr. Joe Charles Roberts, age 74, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born October 3, 1937 at the Milford Community in Sevier County, Arkansas. Mr. Roberts was a retired bank executive, a member of the National Guard and a member of the First Methodist Church in Lockesburg.

Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his wife, ReNee Roberts on January 29, 2012; and his parents, Howard and Niece Houser Roberts.

He is survived by two sons, Tim Roberts and Kyle Roberts; one daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Kevin Fatheree all of Lockesburg; three grandchildren, William Roberts, Cameron Ashmore - Roberts and Stefan Fatheree and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Roberts will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012 in the First Methodist Church in Lockesburg with Rev. Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Belleville Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 25th at the funeral home.

Jerry Wayne Jackson

Jerry Wayne Jackson passed away at his home in Loveland, Colorado on May 17, 2012 following a lengthy illness.

Jerry was born September 21, 1951 in Foreman, Arkansas to John and Joyce Fox Jackson. The family moved to Lake Jackson, Texas in 1958. Jerry graduated from Brazosport High School, Freeport, Texas in 1970 and later graduated from the University of Houston Clear Lake with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management.

Jerry married Linda Sanders of Foreman, Arkansas September 20, 1975. They lived in Lake Jackson and operated Brazoswood Paint Contractors for a number of years. After Jerry received his accounting degree he worked in the Matagorda County Auditor’s Office for a time. He was involved in a car accident in 1989 and after that his health deteriorated until he became disabled and was no longer able to work.

While on vacation in the Rocky Mountains Jerry and Linda were awed by the beauty of the mountains. They moved to Loveland, Colorado in 2001 to be near their beloved Rockies. Jerry was an avid gun collector, loved to cook, was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan and a member of the Church of Christ.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father John Jackson, mother Joyce Fontenot; step-fathers Walter Evans and Leroy Fontenot; brother Edward Jackson; cherished niece Carol Yoakum and her son Cody Marshall.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Jackson of Loveland, CO; his sisters, Virginia Hilton (Jimmy) of Horatio, Arkansas, Edna Hancock-Varner (Mark) of Brazoria, Texas; brother, Mike Jackson of Lake Jackson; aunt Georgia Bowman of Pearland, Texas; uncle Earl Fox of Livingston, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 25, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the family burial plot at Campground Cemetery in Foreman, Arkansas with Scotty Smith officiating.

Funeral arrangements are by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Lewis Arthur Gore

Mr. Lewis Arthur Gore, age 88, resident of De Queen, died Monday, May 21st in the Brookewood Nursing and Rehab.

He was born to Thomas McMillian and Gracie Lee Braly Gore, in the Lone Oak Community of Sevier County, on August 1, 1923. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. He was retired from the Arkansas Department of Highway Transportation, and attended the Dilworth Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed farming, horse trading, and buying and selling cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife of 45 years, Ruby Lee Williams Gore.

He is survived by his wife, Loraine Gore; A son, Vernon Lewis Gore, wife, Wanda J. Gore, daughters, Amy Genette Gore Laurell, husband, Randy Laurrell, and daughter Lyndy Madison Laurrell; Kadra Lee Gore Dunlap, husband, Mark Dunlap and son, Lewis Cade Gore. A daughter, Sandra Kay Hutchison, husband, George Thomas Hutchison, son Chayne Hutchison, his son Garrett Hutchison, daughter, Shanna Hutchison Neill and her husband Casey Neill. Mr. Gore is also survived by two step-sons and step daughters-in-law,, Dwayne and Paula Woods and Jimmie and Tammy Woods all of Foreman, four step-daughters and step sons-in-law, Mary and Jerry Key and Cathy and Johnny Aubrey all of Foreman, Ark., Dicki and Bill Horton of Texarkana, Ark., and Debra and Rick Warren of Crossett, Ark., and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. Lewis Gore will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 25th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Millwee Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Thursday, May 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Johnnie Claud "J.C." Pell

Mr. Johnnie Claud "J.C." Pell, age 86, a lifelong resident of Sevier County Arkansas, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 in the Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville, Arkansas.

He was born April 6, 1926 in the Belleville Community. He was a mechanic, an avid fisherman and followed the Ronald McDonald Fishing Tour. He was a member of the Southern Bass Association and in 1979 was chosen as fisherman of the year by the association members. He was also in the beginning group of the Sevier County Search and Rescue Unit, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a Baptist.

Mr. Pell was preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Velma Jane Bailey Pell; one daughter, Kathy Pell Mohr and one brother, Jimmy Pell.

He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Margaret Kate Purtell Pell of Lockesburg, Arkansas; two grandsons, Kristopher Thomas Mohr and wife, Amanda of Camp Pendleton, California and Greg Mohr of Copell, Texas; one sister, Anna Lou Smith of Lockesburg; one son-in-law, Don Mohr and his wife Donna also of Copell, Texas and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and a nephews and a host of special friends.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Pell will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in the Oddfellows Cemetery in Lockesburg with Dewayne Mack officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 22nd at the funeral home.
