Richard Lee Bell
Richard Lee Bell, age 23, a resident of Gillham, died Monday, October 17, 2011 at his home.
He was born January 5, 1988 in Greenville, Texas. He attended Gillham Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Corey Wedeking.
He is survived by his wife Aliceson Dallas Duckett Bell of Gillham; three step-daughters, Alicia Chappell, Alyssa DeVore and Alizabeth DeVore; his parents, Darryl Bell of Gillham and Stephania Cherry of Greenville, Texas; one brother, Joe Bob Scroggins of Colleyville, Texas; two sisters, Lola Cherry and Despania Taylor both of Greenville, Texas; his paternal grandmother, Evelyn Bell of Gillham; and his maternal grandparents, Johnny Vathis of Miami Beach, Florida and Charlene Earnhart of Greenville, Texas.
Funeral Services for Mr. Bell will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011 in the Gillham Baptist Church with Bryan Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Charlie E. Wolcott
Mr. Charlie E. Wolcott, age 78, a resident of Horatio, died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at his home.
He was born November 15, 1932 in De Queen. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Mr. Wolcott was preceded in death by his parents, Roy J. Wolcott, Sr. and Velma C. Franks Wolcott; one son, James Daryl Wolcott and one brother, Roy J. Wolcott, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Marvell Lambeth Wolcott of Horatio; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Sharon Wolcott of Hope, Arkansas; two brothers, Fred W. Wolcott of De Queen and George Wolcott of Jacksonville, Florida; two granddaughters, Jenni Massengill of Edmond, Oklahoma and Johnna Quinn of Hope; 5 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Wolcott will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Dan Kaffenberger and Micah Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Beacon Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will be at their home, 136 Blue Bird Lane in Horatio.
Michael Lloyd "Mickey" Cox
Mr. Michael Lloyd "Mickey" Cox, age 54, a resident of the Greens Chapel Community, died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at his home.
He was born July 13, 1957 in Texarkana, Arkansas. He was an employee of Tyson Foods in Nashville, a member of the Round Top and Janes Hunting Club and a member of the Greens Chapel Methodist Church.
Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Horace Cox; and one brother, Terry Lynn Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Deer Cox; two sons, Jerry Don and Jason both of the Greens Chapel Community; one daughter, Shana of Mineral Springs; his mother, Floy Morris Cox of Dierks; one sister, Anita Mays also of Dierks; his grandchildren, Isaac, Haydn, Logan, Carson, Bailee, Daylon, Levi, Christian, Leah, Zachary, Dalton, Harley, Mazzey; and one nephew, Ethan Mays
Funeral Services for Mr. Cox will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2011 in the Greens Chapel Church with Robert Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in the Old New Hope Cemetery
in Dierks, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, October 16th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Elizabeth "Betie" Purtell Hill
Mrs. Elizabeth "Betie" Purtell Hill, age 87, a resident of Irving, Texas, died Monday, October 10, 2011 in the Baylor Medical Center in Irving.
She was born May 13, 1924 in Duncan Oklahoma. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her parents, Merry Kyle and Viva Gardner Purtell; and her husband, Frank "Mack" Hill.
She is survived by three sons, Frank "Skip" Hill, Jr. of Old Fort, North Carolina, Jim Hill of Edmond, Oklahoma and Richard Hill of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Lane Sykes of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister, Pat Mathis of Morton Grove, Illinois; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Hill will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2011 in the Falls Chapel Cemetery
under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Boyce Eugene Gene Whisenhunt
Mr. Boyce Eugene "Gene" Whisenhunt, a resident of Andrews, Texas, and former resident of Gillham, Ark., died Thursday, October 13, 2011 in the Brookewood Nursing & Rehab, De Queen.
He was born to Samuel Lee and Dora Augusta Mangus Whisenhunt in Little River County, Arkansas, on October 30, 1930. He was an oil field fisherman for H & H Drilling Company, Andrews, Texas, and was a member of the De Queen Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and was an avid gardener.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Buddy, Harvey, and David Whisenhunt, a sister, Linda Vaught, a grandchild, Tina Michelle Smith, and his wife, Nita Faye Whisenhunt.
He is survived by a son, Derwin Gene Whisenhunt of Andrews, Texas, a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Roger Wayne Smith of Andrews, Texas, a brother, Charlie Whisenhunt of Gillham, Ark., a sister, Inez Parks of Wickes, Ark.; four grandchildren and their spouses, Johnny Don and Nancy Smith of Ozana, Texas, Shelly Dianne and Eddy Lozano of Andrews, Texas, Dylan Jake Bradley, and Haylea Michelle Bradley both of Big Lake, Texas, seven great-grandchildren, Kayla, Hunter, Josh, Kelsei, Britney, Alyssa, and Randi, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Gene Whisenhunt will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16th in the Mineral Cemetery, Gillham, with David Jacobs, minister officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, October 15th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Wyola Simpson McFalls
Mrs. Wyola Simpson McFalls, age 89, a resident of the Oak Grove Community, Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Friday, October 7th at her home. She was born to William and Lucy Greenlee Simpson in the Oak Grove Community, on April 22, 1922.
She was a dedicated homemaker, a member of the New Zion Baptist Church, and enjoyed traveling, canning, quilting, reading her bible, and spending time with her family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Elmira Homes, Hershel Simpson, Surrie Simpson, Ernest Simpson, Brewel Simpson, and Lula Johnson, a son, Billy C. McFalls, a daughter, Bonnie Sue Barnett, and her husband, Theodore R. McFalls.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Oliver B. and Funzia McFalls of Fayetteville, Ark., and Stevie Wayne and Louise McFalls of Lockesburg; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn D. and Benjamin Reynolds of Little Rock, Ark.; and Olivia Mc Falls Watson of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; a sister and brother-in-law, Beulah Luckett of Kansas City, Mo.; eleven grandchildren, Leslie, Colette, Lauren, Stephanie, Terry, Michael, Sandra, Cara, Christyn, Carmen, and Andrea; fourteen great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Wyola McFalls will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 15th in the New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Rondy Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Sylvia Marie Leeper
Mrs. Sylvia Marie Leeper, age 87, a resident of Horatio, AR died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at her home.
She was born December 27, 1923 in Collins, Arkansas. She was a former employee of Baldwin Piano and Organ and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Leeper was preceded in death by her parents, George William and Hazel Aretta Butterick Boykin, and her husband, Colvin Leeper on October 16, 2008.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Donnie and Nancy Leeper of Grantville, Georgia, Larry Leeper and Steve and Ruth Leeper, all of De Queen; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol Kesterson of Dierks, Kathy and Calvin Griffin of Horatio and Lisa and Keith Woodall of Temple, Georgia; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Virginia Boykin of Lockesburg; 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Leeper will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in the Old Piney Church with Bro. Sam Hendricks and Bro. Dale Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Piney Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, October 10th at the funeral home.
Helen Faye Miller Lambert
Mrs. Helen Faye Miller Lambert, age 79, of Dierks, Arkansas, died Sunday, October 09, 2011 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
She was born August 4, 1932. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Lambert is preceded in death by her parents, Quince Henry and Nancy Jewel Stone Miller; two daughters, Nancy Cubbage and Linda Davis and one brother, Herbert Miller.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Beth Jackson of Dierks; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Junior Williams of Dierks; five grandchildren, Brad Davis, Teresa Davis, Jay McKnight, Aaron Jackson and Emily Jackson; one sister, Ailene Horn of Texarkana, Arkansas; two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lambert will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Bro. Scott Kitchens officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
