Robert Miller
Mr. Robert Miller, age 88, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Saturday, August 20, 2011 in the De Queen Medical Center.
He was born to Elison Lee and Verna Ramsey Miller at De Queen, Arkansas, on February 14, 1923. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army, and where he received the Purple Heart and three bronze stars. He was a retired motor grader operator, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and wood working.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Kathleen Stinnett Miller of Horatio, a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Greg Vickery of Springville, Alabama, a son and daughter-in-law, Rodger and Johnnie Miller of Texarkana, Ark.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Amber and Jon Chesser of Birmingham, Ala., and Chad and Courtney Vickery of Klamath Falls, Oregon, four great-grandchildren, Desteni Gamble and Cody Jones both of Texarkana, Ark.; Alyssa Chesser and Liam Chesser both of Birmingham, Alabama, a brother and sister-in-law, Eldon and Merle Miller of Horatio, two sisters, Thelma Jones and Opal Lee Emerson both of De Queen, Ark.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Robert Miller will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 10:00 A.M., in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Hebert officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, De Queen. The Family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Garland Fredrick "Fred" Lipsey
Bro. Garland Fredrick "Fred" Lipsey, age 98, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas died Sunday, August 21, 2011 in Horatio.
He was born January 30, 1913 in Plainview, Arkansas. He was a retired carpenter and minister and pastored the Old Center Church for 49 years.
Bro. Lipsey was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel B. and Ella A. Peeler Lipsey; his first wife, Bess Pennington Lipsey in 1985; a son, Sammy Lipsey in 1971 and a granddaughter, Lori O’Connor in 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Seals Lipsey of Ft. Worth, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Patricia Lipsey; two daughters and a son-in-law, Henri Ann and Frank Halter and Judy Cowling, all of Horatio; one step-daughter and step son-in-law, Charlotte and Randy Welch of Ft. Worth; 6 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Bro. Fred Lipsey will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in the Old Center Church with Bro. Dale Crawford, Bro. Sam Hendrix and Bro. Donnie Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery
under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Reuel W. Fenton
Mr. Reuel W. Fenton, age 90, a resident of De Queen, formerly of Ashdown, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 in the De Queen Medical Center.
He was born December 20, 1920 in De Queen. He was a retired farmer and rancher; he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Ashdown and was an avid Razorback fan.
Mr. Fenton was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Mangum Fenton; his wife, Edna Whatley Fenton and three sisters.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Jerry Don Roberts of De Queen; one son and daughter-in-law, Lyndon and Debby Fenton of Weatherford, Texas; five grandchildren, Lise Johnson, Devon Cody, Derek McClung, Cody Fenton and Erin Williams; seven great-grandchildren, Samuel, Hunter, Lia, Sarah, Katy, Connor and Henry; and friend, Annie Maull.
Funeral Services for Mr. Fenton will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2011 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Don Roberts and Lyndon Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery
near Ashdown.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 21st at the funeral home.
Carrie Dell Turner Cravens Johnson
Mrs. Carrie Dell Turner Cravens Johnson, age 87, a resident of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Wednesday, August 17th in a Texarkana Hospital. She was born to Lyndon and Queen Esther Walls Turner at Paraloma, Arkansas, on June 2, 1924. She had worked for the Lockesburg School System, De Queen Nursing Home, and the Rubber Corporation of Arkansas, as well as a homemaker.
She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, and working in the yard. She had a real love for family, and especially enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved visiting the sick and cheering them up with comfort from the Scriptures.
She was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 32 years, Lester Cravens, and her husband of 6 years, Sammie Johnson.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Gloria Cravens of Wichita, Kansas, and Henry and Renee Cravens of Pensacola, Fla.; four daughters and sons-in-laws, Denise and James Winfield, and Patricia Cravens of Texarkana, Ark., Andretta Cravens of Hernando, Miss., and Janice and Torris French of Southaven, Miss., thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Johnson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20th in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, De Queen with Jerry Brazeal officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Cemetery, Lockesburg, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, August 19th from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.
Elizabeth Anne “Libby” Jackson Higgins
Mrs. Elizabeth Anne “Libby” Jackson Higgins, age 55, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, August 17th in De Queen, after a lengthy illness.
She was born to Joseph Ray “Bob” and Clydean Smith Jackson at Borger, Texas, on June 28, 1956. She graduated from the Sanford-Fritch School System, Fritch, Texas, She attended Frank Phillips Junior College, Borger, Texas, Cossatot Vo-Tech in De Queen, earning a secretarial diploma. She received her associated in Arts from Texarkana College, and her Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science Degree in Office Administration, Area of Concentration in Psychology from East Texas State University. She was an employee of Southwest Mental Health. She also had a degree in music, and was a classical pianist. She was a Methodist and enjoyed gardening, history, archeological digs, and fishing. She loved animals, especially her dog, Judy. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was loved by all that knew her.
Libby was preceded in death by her father, and a brother-in-law, Kurt Naumann.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen DeAnne Higgins of Hope, Ark.; her mother, Clydean Jackson of De Queen, a brother and sister-in-law, Kitzel and Sharla Jackson of Amarillo, Texas, a sister, Billie June Naumann of De Queen, her special friend, Roger Steffler of De Queen, and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Libby Higgins will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 20th in the Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, with Rev. David Williams and Steve Chenoweth officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, near Dierks, Ark. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, August 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
Clifford Dewayne Favors
Mr. Clifford Dewayne Favors, age 49, a resident of Grandview, Missouri, and former resident of Lockesburg, died Monday, August 6, 2011 in Grandview.
He was born to John and Nora Mae Greenlee Favors at Texarkana, Arkansas, on March 21, 1962. He was a security guard for the Kansas City, Missouri Post Office, and a member of the New Zion Baptist Church of Lockesburg. He enjoyed driving and visiting was friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by four uncles, Jake, Jr. and Sandra Greenlee of Lockesburg, Delmar Greenlee, and Samuel and Maude Greenlee of Chicago, Ill, and Earnest and Celestine Greenlee of Lockesburg, an aunt, Alice Faye Mitchell of West Covina, Calif., and a number of cousins and other family members.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Clifford Favors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 15th in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Lockesburg, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Johnny Boyd Suggs
Mr. Johnny Boyd Suggs, age 70, a resident of Lockesburg, died Monday, October 03, 2011, in the Brookwood Nursing and Rehab.
He was born to Robert Jessie and Anna Mae Brail Suggs at Alleene, Arkansas, on May 7, 1941. He was a retired truck driver, and a Baptist. He enjoyed fishing, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Davis Suggs of Lockesburg, five sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny Lee and Evelyn Suggs of Huntsville, Arkansas; Jerry Don and Cendi Brown of Ft. Smith, Jerry Lee Suggs of Lockesburg, Steven Dewayne and Sandra Suggs of Lockesburg, and James Earl and Violet Suggs of Van Buren, Arkansas; a daughter and a son-in-law, Mildred Annette and George Head of Ft. Smith, a brother, Delbert Suggs of Rogers, Arkansas; four sisters, Maudean McElam of Missouri, Lois Dutton of Rogers, Arkansas; Shirley Ann Utter of Missouri, and Sarah Jane Irons of Star City, Arkansas; sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Chandler Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5th. Cremation will follow, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
Joyce Lee Maulden Johnson
Mrs. Joyce Lee Maulden Johnson, age 77, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, in the Dierks Nursing Center, Dierks.
She was born to Howard and Gracie Puttman Maulden at Telephone, Texas, on August 14, 1934. She was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, with 30 years service, and enjoyed crocheting, reading, and television.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Beth Johnson of De Queen, four grandchildren, Crystal, Melisa, Amanda, and Mathew, and five great-grandchildren.

Freddy C. Moss
Mr. Freddy C. Moss, age 67, a resident of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, died Monday, at his home.
He was born September 16, 1944 at De Queen, Arkansas to Grover C. and Novell Rink Moss. He was a retired truck driver, and enjoyed farming and ranching.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Pat Lee Moss, Gerald Moss, and Frank Moss.
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Vernice Moss of Corpus Christi, Texas, a sister and brother-in-law, Felicia and Stanley Foust of Clinton, Tennessee, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Shirley Marie Tunnell Oglesby
Shirley Marie Tunnell Oglesby, 69, of Broken Bow, passed away September 26, 2011 in Tulsa.
She was born May 22, 1942 in Arkinda, Arkansas, the daughter of Arther and Edna Marie Simcoe Tunnell. Shirley had lived in McCurtain County all of her life and was of the Baptist faith She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, drawing, and genealogy.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Teresa Neel; grandson Matthew Garrett and her husband, Bryant Oglesby.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Thomas Carver, Odie Carver and wife Tammara and John Mathews all of Broken Bow; Kathy Plunk and husband Jerry of Idabel, Barbara Raley and husband Ron of Hooks, Texas, Marsha London and husband Glenn of Eagletown, Brenda Adams of Idabel, Anna Pole and husband Ricky of Corpus Christi, Texas, and LaGayla Pettigrew of Horatio, Arkansas; brother, Coy Tunnell and wife Barbara of Winthrop, Arkansas; sisters, Linda Tallant, Patricia Combs and friend Larry Combs, Cathleen Ridge and husband Larry all of Haworth; son-in-law, Jackie Neel of Broken Bow; 31 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends, including four lifelong friends, Joy Vann, Carla Giddens, Hattie Barrick and Johnny Burkhart.
