Vernon Lee Whittington
Mr. Vernon Lee Whittington, age 85, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, July 4th in Brookewood Nursing and Rehab.
He was born on July 4, 1926 at Childress, Texas to Frank G. and Myrtle Lee Whittington. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He was a retired plumber, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Horatio. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Hearless, Cecil, Lesley, Watlea G., and Ray Whittington, a son, Roger Whittington, his step-children, Sherman, and Loyd Henderson, Shirley Robinson, Sharon Owens, and Sandy Mitchell, and his wife, Syble Frady Whittington.
He is survived by three stepsons, Butch Henderson of Birmingham, Alabama, Robbie Henderson of Ashdown, Arkansas; and Bobbie Henderson of Texarkana, Arkansas; five step-daughters, Charlotte Griffin of Texarkana, Arkansas; Susie Nickerson of Fouke, Arkansas and Sue Ann Cozart of Texarkana, Arkansas.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Vernon Whittington will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6th in the Horatio Cemetery, Horatio, Arkansas.
Melinda Jane Richardson Litchford
Melinda Jane Richardson Litchford, age, 49, a resident of Horatio Arkansas, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born November 12, 1961 in Texarkana, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Williamson Community Church.
Mrs. Litchford was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth Nora Dugan Richardson.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Dale Litchford; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Jane Richardson and Bruce and Jennifer Richardson all of Horatio; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Yvonne and Allen Evans of Horatio and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Litchford will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in the Horatio Cemetery
with Rev. Jimmy Roden officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Hazel Melinda Frady Jennings
Mrs. Hazel Melinda Frady Jennings, age 89, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, June 30, 2011, in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born to Lymon William and Ellie Henson Frady at Cerrogordo, Arkansas, on August 4, 1921. She was a beautician and was former owner of Hazel’s Tip to Toe in Mena, and Hazel’s Beauty Shop in Pasadena, Texas, and was a former employee of Forty Carrots in De Queen. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Horatio, the Horatio Garden Club, the EHC, and the Hospital Auxiliary in De Queen. She enjoyed gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard Shelly Jennings in 1991, and all her siblings, Lymon Frady, Jr., James Willis Frady, Gertrude Suttles, Willie D. Frady, Syble Whittington, Bernice Mayo, and Harold Frady.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including, David Frady and Susie Nickerson both of De Queen, Judy Farley of Haworth, Okla., and Winona Armer of Horatio.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Jennings will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2nd in the Horatio Cemetery, with Bro. Coy Arnold officiating.
Christopher Rueben Moore
Mr. Christopher Ruben Moore, age 55, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at his home.
He was born March 3, 1956 in California and was an employee of Pilgrims Pride.
He is survived by one son, Sam Taylor Moore of Foreman; his mother, Marion Moore; one brother, one sister and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services for Mr. Moore will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the Horatio Assembly of God Church with Dennis Pruitt and Charles Ligon officiating.
Thomas “Tommy” Monroe Waller
Thomas “Tommy” Monroe Waller, age 56, of Wickes, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his home.
He was born September 11, 1954 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Thomas L. Waller and to Mary E. Hudson Waller. He was united in marriage to Becky Wilson. He was a truck driver by profession and was of the Baptist faith. Tommy also served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Waller, and a brother John B. Klintworth.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Wickes Church of the Nazarene with Brother Mike Wilson officiating. Interment follows in Oak Grove Cemetery
under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be general.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Miranda, Paul Miranda, John Wilson, Brandon Tadlock, Jerry Thompson, and James Miller.
Jason Bradley Morris
Mr. Jason Bradley Morris, age 28, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, June 29th in De Queen.
He was born to Brad and Tammy Price Morris at De Queen, Arkansas, on August 26, 1982. He was a construction worker and a Christian. He enjoyed fishing, 4-wheeling, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tommie Price, and a cousin, Casey Price.
He is survived by his parents, Brad and Tammy Morris of De Queen, a son, Beau Morris, and a daughter, Abigail Morris, both of De Queen, a sister and brother-in-law, Jessica Marie and Jered Alexander of Ashdown, Ark.; two nephews, Dylan and Kaydim Alexander both of Ashdown, his grandparents, James and Sheila Morris of De Queen, and Carolyn and Felton Vaught of Gillham, Ark., and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral Services for Mr. Jason Morris will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 1st in the First Assembly of God Church, De Queen, with Rev. Coy Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Mineral Cemetery, Gillham, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Thursday, June 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Clara Mae “Dump” Hill
Clara Mae “Dump” Hill, age 84 of Idabel passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at De Queen, AR. She was born February 26, 1927 in the Goodwater Community, Oklahoma, the daughter of Robert and Fannie Steadham Jackson.
Dump was a homemaker and a wonderful cook. She managed the Western Union Office in Idabel for several years. Dump loved to fish and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Hill in 1982; and sisters, Ida Jenkins and Louise Keeney.
Dump is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Brenda Evans of Longview, TX, Bruce and Terri Hill of De Queen, AR and Ronnie and Robyn Hill of Bonham, TX; step-son, Jessie and Olivia Hill of Carrolton, TX; step-daughter, Evie and Rex Johnson of Long Beach, CA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Jo Jackson of Idabel and John D. and Ruth Jackson of Eldorado, Kansas; grandchildren, Brad and Chris Hill of Ft. Worth, TX, Joe B. Hill of Durant, OK, Jeff Hill of McKinney, TX, Jami and Scott Dover of Royse City, TX and Casey Hill of Bonham, TX; great-grandson, Slyder Hill of Ft. Worth, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 at White Funeral Home in Idabel, Oklahoma. Funeral services will at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at the White Family Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery
with Virgil Romine officiating.
Esther O. Pearce-Tuttle
Esther O. Pearce-Tuttle passed peacefully away on June 22, 2011. She was born in De Queen, AR., and has resided in Fresno, CA. since 1956.
Esther was a very devoted proud mother, grandmother, and wife.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Byron M. Pearce, of 36 years and Fred Tuttle.
Also preceded by her beloved daughter, Ina Pearce-Masich; her parents, Thomas Payne and Ollie E. Byers; and siblings, Ruth, Velma, Murl, and Hubert (Hub) Byers.
Survivors include daughter, Joyce Pearce, Brother Louis (Tuffy) Byers, grandchildren: Tracy Yandell-Bachman and David Frisby; great grandchildren, Cory and Aaron; and many nieces and nephews.
