Ruel Talmadge Hodges
Mr. Ruel Talmadge Hodges, age 73, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at his home.
He was born to Robert and Euta Richmond Hodges at De Queen, Arkansas, on August 10, 1936. He served in the military with the U. S. Army, and was a logger. He attended the Friendship Baptist Church, and enjoyed hunting, cattle, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Hodges, and two sisters, Mary Faye Baker and Ora Mae Wise.
He is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Geneva Bryan Hodges of De Queen, a son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Brandy Hodges of De Queen, two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Brian Simpson of Dallas, Texas, and Leslie and Kevin Ray of De Queen, his grandchildren, Zack, Nathan, Jace, Cloann, Chaz, Cody, Colton, Cami, Kolbie, Dalton, and Allie, and a great-granddaughter, Jaycee, a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mildred Hodges of Horatio, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Ruel Hodges are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 8th in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, De Queen, with Bro. George Frachiseur officiating. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Robert (Bob) Samuel Golden, Jr.
Robert (Bob) Samuel Golden, Jr., age 68, a resident of Foreman, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in the VA Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana.
He was born April 26, 1941 in Foreman. He was a retired auctioneer, hunter’s education instructor, a member of the National Rifle Association, a U.S. Army Veteran and a Christian.
Mr. Golden was preceded in death by a wife Sharon, his father Robert Golden, Sr. and a great-grandson.
Bob is survived by his wife Scharlett Golden of Foreman; his mother Ernestine Golden of Foreman; stepchildren Linda & Walt Gregory of Foreman, Christy Thrash of Ashdown, Steve & Becky Champion of Queen City TX, Chryl & Glen Johnson of Ashdown; son Richard Golden, his brother Mike Golden & sister-in-law Terri of Foreman, sister Ruth Cleghorn and brother-in-law Matt of Foreman; 20 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews, family; his best friend Ben McCraw and many friends.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Golden will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2010 in the Gravelly Cemetery
in Foreman, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 7th at the funeral home.

Bessie J. Wilcher
Bessie J. Wilcher, age 83, of Mena, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 in Mena.
She was born November 26, 1926 in Turkey, Texas to the late Joseph Bingham and the late Mena Musgrave Bingham. Mrs. Wilcher was united in marriage to Melvin Wilcher and was faithful to his ministry; serving along beside him on his faithful journey in his service to the Lord. She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mena Bingham, her husband Melvin Wilcher, sisters, Verna Taylor, Opal Petross, and Jessie Ferguson, and her brothers, J.D. Bingham, and Carl Ray Bingham.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wickes Pentecostal Church with Brother Bill Wakley and Brother Chris Burke officiating. Interment will follow in the Duckett Cemetery
in Wickes, Arkansas under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lyle, Travis Bingham, Gerald Petross, Jerry Sanders, John McLaughlin, Geoffrey Wilcher, Patrick Wilcher, Price Crawford, Karson Crawford, Dood Baker, Clifford Bingham and Trent Smith.
Larry Franklin Morris
Larry Franklin Morris, age 73, a resident of Dierks, AR died Friday, April 2, 2010 in the Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville, AR.
He was born September 26, 1936, in McDonough, GA to William Franklin and Clara Bell Hooten Morris. He was a retired millworker and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nene Morris and his father, William Franklin Morris.
He is survived by two sons, Franklin Morris of Dierks, AR and Heath Morris of Nashville, AR; two daughters, Denise Barbre of Dierks and Lisa Ritchie of Hazard, KY; his mother, Clara Morris of McDonough, GA; four sisters, Carolyn McEver of McDonough, GA, Wylene Eason of McDonough, GA, Janice Brushaber of Danielsville, GA and Kathy Stephens of North Carolina; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Morris will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Gary Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 5th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Benjamin Clay “Benny” Parks
Benjamin Clay “Benny” Parks, 51, of Wickes, went to be with his Lord, Friday, March 26, 2010, while on vacation in Cozumel, Mexico.
He was born May 16, 1958 in Andrews, Texas to D. V. “Jim” Parks and Charlene Dean Parks.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Parks of the home, daughter, Amber and husband, Dewayne of Wickes, son, Josh and wife, Mona of Wickes, four grandchildren, Brody and Eden “Ziggie” Parks, and Abigail and Pate Taylor all of Wickes, his mother, Gail Parks of Gillham, his mother and husband, Charlene and Ernie LeBleu of Lake Charles, La.; one brother, Vernon and wife, Brenda Parks of Holly Beach, La., three sisters, Starla and husband, Steve Bleifus, Shelly and husband, Rodney Kilby, Alicia and husband, Joey Botter all of Hot Springs, Ark., three uncles, Delter Parks and wife, Inez of Wickes, Ark., Dale Dean and wife, Irene of Mesa, Arizona, Jr. Flint and wife, Bonita of Wickes, Ark.; four aunts, Tula Mae Higgins of Texarkana, Tx., Murl Higgins of Gillham, and Freda Adair of Lockesburg, Ark., Rose Dean of Nashville, Ark.; five nephews, one great-nephew, and one great-niece, many cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Jim in 2009, his grandparents, two uncles, and three aunts.
Benny was a minister of the Gospel where he pastored Revival Center of Cove for 18 years, along with being a rancher and an electrician by trade.
A celebration of Bro. Benny Parks’ life is entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen, and will be held Saturday, April 3rd at 2:00 p.m. in the Revival Center Church at Cove, Ark. with Bro. Steve Squires, Bro. Reginald Fryar, Sis. Mona Hill, and Bro. Will Squires officiating. Interment will follow in the Mineral Cemetery, Gillham, Ark. Maurine Thomas Butler
Mrs. Maurine Thomas Butler, age 83, a resident of Traskwood, Arkansas died Monday, March 29, 2010 in the Saline Memorial Hospice House in Benton, Arkansas.
She was born July 31, 1926 to Ella and David Thomas of Horatio, Arkansas. She was a homemaker, seamstress and loved to hunt and fish.
Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil T. Butler; two brothers, O’Dell and Opel Thomas; two sisters, Irene Brown and Shirley Dinger; one grandson, Charlon Williams and her parents.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil Wayne and Paula Butler of De Queen and Clermon Ray and Brenda Butler of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; four daughters and sons-in-law, Stella Louise and Alvin Crenshaw of Traskwood, Sharon and John Malone of South Padre Island, Texas, Patricia and Danny Horn of Carthage, Texas, Carolyn and Cecil Jackson of DeBerry, Texas and Wanda Butler of Traskwood; 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Cara.

with Kim Hammer, Hospice Chaplain, Saline Memorial Hospital officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mr. Erwin Anderson
Mr. Erwin Crawford Anderson, age 83, a resident of King, Arkansas, died Friday, March 26th at Brookewood Nursing & Rehab.
He was born to Osborn and Ida McKinney Anderson at Idabel, Oklahoma, December 6, 1926. He was a warrior his entire life beginning at the age of 16 when he joined the Navy during World War II, his years in the Army, during the Korean Conflict, and Vietname War, and in final days in this life as a mighty prayer warrior for those he knew. He was affiliated with the First Assembly of God Church of Horatio, and was also retired from Weyerhaeuser Company. He enjoyed reading the Bible, watching boxing, and spending time with his grandchildren, and his three dogs, Biscuit, Sandy, and Shelby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, Evelyn Anderson and Samuel Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Mamie Anderson of King, two sons, Richard Anderson of Prescott, Ark., and Roger Dale Corley of Foreman, Ark.; a daughter, Joyce Ann Lipsey of De Queen. three grandchildren, Matthew Erwin Corley of Foreman, Amber Michelle Cole of Redwater, Texas, and Rachel Ellen Lipsey of De Queen, four great-grandchildren; a brother, Jimmy and Iris Anderson of Wisconsin, his special cousins, Robert Roy and Rita Adams of Joplin, Missouri, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Charles Franklin Sowell
Mr. Charles Franklin Sowell, age 78, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Christus St. Michael Hospital, Texarkana, TX.
He was born to Hershel Earl and Wilda Branscam Sowell on August 21, 1931, at Solgohachia, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U. S. Army. He was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, especially the Razorbacks, and walking.
He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Billy Joe Campbell, and a sister, Ida Belle Huffman. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Petra Sowell of Hope, Arkansas, four grandchildren, Harley, John, Damion, and Savannah; a great-grandson, Adam; three brothers, Slim Sowell of Lockesburg, James Sowell of Hattieville, Ark., and Claude Campbell of Conway, Arkansas, one sister, Amy Sowell of California, and a number of nieces and nephews.
