Raymond Ray Kirby
Mr. Raymond Ray Kirby, age 77, a resident of Dierks, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in the Crystal Falls Health and Rehab Center in De Queen.
He was born July 23, 1932 in Burg, Arkansas. He was a heavy equipment operator, farmer and a member of the Community of Christ Church.
Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, William Taylor and Gladys Lee Kesterson Kirby. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Rex and Doris Kirby of Dierks; one sister, Bonnie Kirby Whitmore of Springdale; two nieces, Patti Halter and Sheri Faulkner; and three nephews, Bill Kirby, Mike Whitmore and David Whitmore.
Funeral Services for Mr. Kirby will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 10, 2009 in the Community of Christ Church on Hwy 278 north of Dierks with Johnny Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the Burg Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 9th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Joyce Mignon Sanders Couch
Mrs. Joyce Mignon Sanders Couch, age 75, a resident of Nathan, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 in Nashville, Arkansas.
She was born January 10, 1934 in the Green’s Chapel Community of Sevier County. She was a member of the Biggs Chapel Methodist Church in Nathan, a longtime member of the Paraclifta Chapter of the DAR, Treasurer of the Pike County Archives and History Society, a bookkeeper and registrar for Conifer Girl Scouts Council in Texarkana from 1961 to 1973 and the bookkeeper for Dot and Anne’s in Texarkana from 1973 to 2003.
Mrs. Couch was preceded in death by her parents, D. L. and Marie Whitlock Sanders of De Queen.
She is survived by her husband, C.C. Couch of Nathan; one son and daughter-in-law, David Randall and Donna Fatherree of Nashville; one daughter Bobbi Mignon White of Lewisville, Texas; one grandson, Chad Roberts of Nashville; step-children, Jerry Couch of Nashville, Kay Culp of Nashville, Carolyn Saldivar of De Queen and Robin Couch of Ashdown, Arkansas.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Couch will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in the Green’s Chapel Cemetery
near Dierks, Arkansas with Rev. Al Terrell officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Dean Winford Wright
Mr. Dean Winford Wright, age 84, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, December 3rd at his home.
He was born to Oden M. and Wilma Lucille Smith Wright at Mulberry Grove, Illinois, on February 24, 1925. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Marines, and was a retired grocery store manager. He was a member of the DAV, and enjoyed wood working, hunting, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vearldean Bailey Wright, and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kay Wright.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Paula Wright of St. Louis, Missouri, and David and Rachel Wright of De Queen; five grandchildren; David Allen Wright, Jr. of De Queen, Maj. Dena Maye Braeger of Leavenworth, Kansas, Daniel Richard Wright Of Mass., Capt. Shane Gwaltney, U.S. Air Force, Santa Barbara, Calif, and Monica Cagle of De Queen, seven great-grandchildren, Amanda Kay Wright, Sidney Braeger, Katie Braeger, Aden Braeger, Dylan Cagle, Myles Cagle, and Riley Gwaltney, a sister-in-law, Ethel Wommack of De Queen, and a niece, Callie Wommack, special friends, Ray, Michelle, and Janie Williams.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Dean Wright are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5th in the Mt. Ida Cemetery
with Bro. Charles Ligon officiating. The family receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home Friday, December 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Ruby L. Humphrey Stinnett
Mrs. Ruby L. Humphrey Stinnett, age 92, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in the Crystal Falls Health Care Center in DeQueen.
She was born in the Greens Chapel Community, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen.
Mrs. Stinnett was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Maggie Woods Humphrey; her husband, Robert Burl Stinnett, six sisters, Annie Manning, Ressie Gibson, Rachel Metcalf, Acie Blankenship, Alleene Bartlett, and Lorene Phillips; one brother, James Humphrey.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla and Bootney Cole of De Queen; one sister, Pearlie Miles of Texarkana, Texas; and one grandson, Rob Cole and his wife Brandi of De Queen. Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Stinnett will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, with James McRae, minister officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Loyd Coy Smith
Mr. Loyd Coy Smith, age 70, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, November 29, 2009, in Christus St. Michael Health System, Texarkana.
He was born to Perry Lee and Eva Belle Reynolds Smith at De Queen, Arkansas, on October 5, 1939. He served in the military with the U. S. Navy, and was retired from the Deveraux Foundation at Victoria, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles Smith, and Perry Smith, Jr., two sisters, Martha Wade, and Elsie Stout.
He is survived by two sons, Loyd Coy Smith, Jr. of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Brad Hindley Of Victoria, Texas, three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and John Law of Ratcliff, Arkansas, Gayla and Scott Belcher of De Queen, and Dawn Smith of De Queen, one brother, Floyd Smith of Skiatook, Okla., three sisters, Mae Turner of De Queen, Ruby Mitchell of Liberty, Mississippi, and Evelyn Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Bill Joe Ford
Mr. Bill Joe Ford, age 80, a resident of Dierks died Sunday, November 29, 2009 in the Dierks Health and Rehab Center. He was born on January 23, 1929, in Centerpoint, Arkansas to Gracie Pearl Sharp and Joe Allen Ford. Bill was raised in Dierks and was a stand-out athlete for the Dierks Outlaws.
After his graduation Bill moved to Payette, Idaho to go to work for his uncle. There he met a beautiful lady, Haroldine Marie Calvert-Moore and her two young children, Haroline Dee and Haviland Delane. Bill and Haroldine were married in 1950. Bill learned the meat cutting trade while in Payette. He briefly went to Tyler, Tx with his trade but returned in 1959 to Fruitland, Idaho. He stayed in Idaho until the passing of Haroldine in 1977.
He then returned to Dierks in 1979 and worked his trade in DeQueen and Nashville until his retirement in 1996.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing dominoes and watching the Razorbacks play on tv. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Haroldine and wife Elena Jo “Pug” Ford, sister Verna Faye McClure and an infant sister. Bill is survived by his son, Timothy Ford and wife Rebecca of Boise, Idaho; step children Haroline Dee Wuehler and husband Jim of Centerville, Idaho; Haviland Delane Lange of Bend Oregon; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several cousins and many friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Ford will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Bro. Doyle Clifton officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunshine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3rd at the funeral home in Dierks.
William “Billy” Joe Kesterson
Mr. William “Billy” Joe Kesterson, age 74, of Hatfield, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009 at his home in Hatfield.
He was born February 1, 1935 in Dierks, Arkansas to the late Curt Kesterson and the late Cora Collum Kesterson. He was united in marriage to Barbara Manasco. Billy Joe was a sawmill supervisor for Weyerhaeuser by profession and was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Kesterson, his parents, Curt and Cora Kesterson, a son, Roger Kesterson, a brother, Bobby Jean Kesterson and a sister, Shirley Millis.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Cove First Baptist Church with Brother Ron Ladd officiating. Interment follows in Liberty Hill Cemetery
at Dierks under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, December 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Othetta May Chilcoat
Mrs. Othetta May Chilcoat, age 62 a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at her home.
She was born January 15, 1947 in Lockesburg. She was a homemaker, quilter and a member of the Lighthouse Church in Lockesburg.
Mrs. Chilcoat was preceded in death by her parents, Alvie M. and Maxine R. Stallard Houser and her sister, Delores L. Dixon Houser.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Wayne Chilcoat of Lockesburg; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Gay Chilcoat Smith and Mike of Lockesburg; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Kirk Chilcoat and Shellie Mae of Lockesburg; two brothers, Delwin D. Houser and Otho D. Houser of De Queen, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren and numerous friends and family.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Chilcoat will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Buster Dellinger and Ann Holley officiating. Burial will follow in the Lockesburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 27th at the funeral home.
Dana Carole Watkins
Mrs. Dana Carole Watkins, age 64, a resident of Gillham, died Thursday, November 26, 2009, in the Christus St. Michael Hospital, Texarkana, Texas.
She was born to George and Julia Walls Coughlin on December 20, 1944 in New York. She served in the U. S. Navy, and was a retired cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Edward Frances Watkins.
She is survived by two sons, John Furlong of Phoenix, Arizona, and Tripp Douglas of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a daughter, Miranda Coughlin of Gillham, and six grandchildren.
No memorial services are planned at this time, and cremation was under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
