Lou Ellen Sharp Gray
Mrs. Lou Ellen Sharp Gray, age 82, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in a Texarkana Hospital.
She was born to Sam and Violet Cranfill Sharp at Duncan, Oklahoma, on June 9, 1926. She and her husband, Eddie Gray founded Gray’s Petroleum in 1946 and Southern L P Gas in 1960, and she owned and operated this business after his death in 1982.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Queen, and was a Southwest Arkansas Domestic Violence Board Member, served on the First State Bank Board of Directors, and was involved with establishing the Cossatot Arts and Crafts.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sue Jones, Eddie Lou and Larry Watson all of De Queen, four grandchildren, Jerry Brown and his wife, Tracie of De Queen, Jinger Brown of Atlanta, Georgia, Jason Brown, and his wife, Rebekah of Benton, Ark.; and Julie Brown of De Queen; two great-grandchildren, Brittney Brown and Jason Brown, and one great-great-grandchild, Aaden Flores, as well as other family members.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lou Gray will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2009 in the First Baptist Church of De Queen with Rev. Charles Hebert and Rev. Doug Dorris officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. The family will receive friends at the Chandler Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16th.

Steven Curtis Lacefield
Mr. Steven Curtis Lacefield, age 42, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in the De queen Medical Center.
He Was born to Floyd and Betty Jester Lacefield at De Queen, Arkansas on August 4, 1966. He was a machine operator for Pilgrim's Pride, and was a member of the Jubilee Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr & Mrs. O.D. Lacefield, and Mr. & Mrs. Curtis Jester, and in January of 1987, a daughter Heather Lacefield.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa "Missy" Vickers Lacefield of De Queen; a Son, Josh Lacefield of Gillham; a daughter, Jaisee Lacefield of Gillham; two step-sons: Dalton Tollett of Kilmichael, MS and Zak Klitz of De Queen; his parents: Floyd and Betty Lacefield of De Queen; three brothers and Sisters-in-law: Danny & Melissa E. Lacefield, Kenny and Cathy Lacefield, and Andy and Sally Lacefield, all of De Queen; three nieces, seven nephews, and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Steven Lacefield will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2009 in the Crosstrails Cemetery, De Queen with Rev. Keith Jordan officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 16th from 6 until 8 pm.
Douglas Ray Dove
Douglas Ray Dove, age 66, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Monday, April 13, 2009 in a Texarkana Hospital.
He was born July 12, 1942 in Dierks, Arkansas to James and Earnease Polk Dove. He was a master electrician, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a member of the Oak Hill Masonic Lodge in Dierks.
Mr. Dove was preceded in death by his father and a grandson, Michael Anthony Dove.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Spencer Dove of Dierks, Arkansas; two daughters and one son-in-law, Desiree and Lee Bogan of New Hope, Arkansas and Deirdre Dove of San Diego, California; his mother, Earnease Allen of Dierks, Arkansas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Wayne and Rita Dove of Nashville, Arkansas and David Lee Allen of Virginia; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sharon and Ronnie Kesterson, Judy Eudy, Debbie and Jackie Stone and Ruthie and Roger Wesley all of Dierks, Arkansas; two grandsons, John Spencer Bogan and Kevin Lee Bogan and 12 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Dove will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2009 in the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Loyd Roper officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Ruby Corinne Prince Harder
Ruby Corinne Prince Harder, age 70, a resident of Lockesburg, AR, died Monday, April 13, 2009 in the De Queen Medical Center .
She was born September 22, 1938 in Bradley, OK to H.H. (Jay) and Ruby Mae Johnson Prince. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Time Missionary Baptist Church in De Queen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Dale Harder in 1992; and three brothers, Ray, Donald, and Wilburn Prince.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Shelia and Danny Ruth, Rod and Pam Harder and Alvin and Debbie Harder, all of Lockesburg, Glenda Parks of De Queen, Jerry (Bull) Harder of Lockesburg, Tammie Harder of Lockesburg and Pam and Russell Stubbs of De Queen; 2 sisters, Mary Thornburg of Bradley, OK and Lois Dodd of Fairview, OK; one brother, Bobby Prince of Lahoma, OK; 11 grandchildren, Amanda Hibbs, Michael Harder, Melissa Brady, Lacey Harder, Jason Parks, Brandi Turner, Justin Ruth, Chance Harder, Josh Harder, Monica Stubbs and Chet Stubbs; 8 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Harder will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 in the McHorse Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the McHorse Cemetery
under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mary Vernois Baber
Mary Vernois Baber went to be with The Lord and family on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. She was born April 14, 1920 in Umpire Ark. to Rufus and Mollie Manasco. She was the youngest of ten children and was about to celebrate her 89th Birthday. She was a life long homemaker and a Charter Member of Gardner United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, Ark.
She was predeceased by her parents, by five Sisters and three Brothers and by her loving Husband of 65 years, Horace Lee Baber and by one Son, Danny Horace Baber. She is survived by a Sister, Gladys Booker of Antlers, Oklahoma, by a Son, Jerry and Betty Jo Baber of DeQueen, Arkansas, by a Daughter, Beth and Alfred Peterson of White Hall, Arkansas, by a Daughter-in-Law, Ellen Baber of Hatfield, Arkansas, by a Son, Tim Baber of Hot Springs, Arkansas, by six Granddaughters, Leah Beth Osburn of DeQueen, Ark., Bobbi Rice of Hot Springs, Ark., Billi Storz of Sheridan, Ark., Alicia Hastey of Mena, Ark., Sarah Wagner of Mena, Ark., Bonne Gibbs of Mena, Ark., by two Grandsons, Daniel Baber of Hatfield, Ark., Nicholas Baber of Mena, Ark., by ten Great-Granddaughters and nine Great Grandsons and by numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Gross Funeral Home of Hot Springs, Ark. Visitation will be Thursday evening, April 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be conducted by the Reverends Biff Averritt and Bruce Howard on Friday, April 10 at 12:30 PM in the Gross Chapel with a Graveside Service at 3:30 PM. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery
in Umpire, Ark. Pallbearers will be her Grandsons, Daniel Baber, Nicholas Baber, Brian Storz, Keith Hastey, Kevin Wagner and Cody Gibbs. Honorary Pallbearers are Kenneth and June Johnson.

Sally Sue Foster Lansdell
Mrs. Sally Sue Foster Lansdell, age 63, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, April 10, 2009 in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born July 19, 1945 in Dardanelle, Arkansas to Loy Ray and Helen Marple Foster. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen.
Mrs. Lansdell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde Wayne Lansdell on November 24, 2000; two sisters, Lawanda David and Freida Kendrick; two brothers, Robert and Lonnie Foster.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and DeAndra Lansdell of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Steve and Linda Snider of De Queen; four daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Ron Hudspeth of Dover, Arkansas, Kelly Lambeth and Billy Ross of Foreman, Arkansas, Susan and Fransisco Elizondo of De Queen and Jennifer and Bruce Richardson of Horatio, Arkansas; two brothers, Don Ford of Dardanelle and Larry Foster; one sister, Verla Mae Moyer of Mt. Berg, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lansdell will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009 Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rev. Charles Hebert and Charles Ligon officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery.

Doyle Johnson
Mr. Doyle Johnson, 90, of De Queen, Arkansas, a former resident of Magnolia, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 9, 2009.
Mr. Johnson was born in Calhoun, Arkansas, on January 25, 1919. He worked as a glazier and a carpenter before retiring in 1971. A veteran of World War II, he was a staff sergeant in the U. S. Army and a recipient of the Bronze Star. In October, 2008, he was a member of Honor Flight, a program to transport World War II veterans to visit their memorial in Washington, D. C.
He was a member of the American Legion and an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved planting his garden and playing dominoes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Floyd Johnson; four brothers, Bryant, Robert Lee, Eddie Ray, and Billy Dale Johnson and two grandsons, Chad Doyle Bird, and Michael O’Shay Bird.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Christine Johnson; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard and Carolyn Johnson of Little Rock; three daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and John Purdy of Nashville, Tenn., Margaret and Larry Reed of Lilburn, Ga. and Robbie and Billy Ray McKelvy of De Queen, Ark., one brother, Sherrill Johnson of Emerson, one sister and brother-in-law, Ethelene and Jack Loftin of Trinity, Tex., 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.

Bert Stephens
Mrs. Bert Stephens, age 90, a resident of Crystal Falls Heath and Rehab in De Queen, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009.
She was born February 17, 1919 to Harve and Alice Gore Thompson; she was a homemaker and a Presbyterian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eules Stephens, son Don Stephens, grandson, Branson Ramsey and brothers, Byron Thompson and James T. Thompson.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and David Ramsey of De Queen; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Cheri Stephens of Horatio; one granddaughter, Rhonda Lovelace of Horatio; two grandsons, Chad Stephens of Dierks and Vaughn Stephens of Nacogdoches, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Stephens will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Horatio Cemetery

Shelby Rivers Stapp
Shelby Rivers Stapp, 69, of Dierks, was born June 4, 1939 in Dierks to Riley and Snow Sharp Rivers . She passed away Monday, April 6, 2009 at her home.
She married James (Gee, Jimmy) Stapp on January 9, 1957 who preceded her in death in July 1998. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Shelby is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Colette and Tony Green of Sherwood, Jamie and John Fannin of Dierks, and Rikki Bolding of Hot Springs .
She is also survived by her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, Jarrod and Britni Fannin of Texarkana, Joel Green and Bethany Green of Sherwood, and Faith Bolding of Hot Springs.
Other survivors include: one brother and sister-in-law, Sherry and Sunny Rivers of Center Point, Texas a special cousin Bill Ford of Nashville, brothers-in-law, Bob Stapp and Doodle Stapp and wife Shelba of Dierks. She was also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 9, 2009 in the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Lloyd Roper officiating. Burial will follow in the Dierks Cemetery
under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
