Russell Wayne Christian

Mr. Russell Wayne Christian, age 74, a resident of Lockesburg, died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at his home.

He was born to Herman and Bertha House Christian at Lockesburg, Arkansas, on January 11, 1935. He was a 1954 graduate of Horatio High School, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, was retired from Pilgrim’s Pride. He enjoyed hunting, fishing,camping, driving his tractor, and visiting with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Carol Ann Eells Christian in 2007.

He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Lonna Ann and Eugene Runnels of Lockesburg, Velvet Waynette and Kurt Hoover of Torrance, Calif., and Robin Lynn and Keith Stacy of Lockesburg, Ark.; six grandchildren, Jonathan Runnels, Amanda Jones, Dave Hoover, Jennifer Hoover, Sarah Stacy, and Erica Stacy, four sisters, Alma Hunter of De Queen, Anita Jones of Evansville, Indiana, Willa Mae Gathright of Lockesburg, Ark.; and Donna Lee Rogers of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Wayne Christian will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Crosstrails Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Viewing will be general.

Nathan Thomas Williamson

Mr. Nathan Thomas Williamson, age 49, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at his home.

He was born to Owen and Doris Leeper Williamson at De Queen, Arkansas, on February 1, 1960. He was the Contractor with Williamson Construction, and was a member of the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church of De Queen. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister-in-law, Amanda Merworth. He is survived by his wife, Dedee Merworth Williamson of De Queen, two sons, Travis Williamson of Springdale, Ark.; and William Hoover Williamson of De Queen, his mother, Doris Williamson of De Queen, four grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, Adam, and Massey, two brothers, Troy Williamson of De Queen, and David Williamson of Malvern, Ark.; one sister, Peggy Williamson of De Queen, and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Services for Nathan Williamson will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Bright officiating. Burial will follow in the Mineral Cemetery, Gillham, Ark., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2009

William Hal Hill

Mr. William Hal Hill, age 96, a resident of De Queen, Ark., died Wednesday, February 11, 2009, in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen, Ark.

He was born to Matthew A. and Eunicey Baker Hill at Clarksville, Texas, on April 16, 1912. He was a long time resident of Sevier County, Arkansas and was retired from the Nashville Hatchery, where he was a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, horses, and dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ethel Orr Hill, a granddaughter, Cheri Howell, four brothers, L. A. Hill, Randolph Hill, Lloyd Hill, and Dee Hill, three sisters, Mildred Tollett, Swan Breedlove, and Ivy Hill, and a son-in-law, Charlie Tyner.

He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Judy Hill of Cypress, Texas, Coleen and Bill Curtis of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and Kay Tyner of Houston, Texas, a granddaughter, Staci Bednarski of Euless, Texas, a sister, Annie Faye Sharp of Mineral Springs, Ark., and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dennis Jones officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

CORA C. COULTER

CORA C. COULTER, 98, of Lockesburg, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Born, February 25, 1910, in Lockesburg, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Jonas and Jeffrie Coulter. She was a faithful member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and was known for her devotion to public service in the DeQueen, Arkansas community. Ms Coulter taught school for 65 years, both in Lockesburg and De Queen. She was instrumental in helping to establish Senior Citizens Day in De Queen, and worked on that committee for many years. Ms. Coulter was preceded in death by her twelve siblings.

She is survived by her niece Donzella Machen of Sacramento, California; her great nieces and nephews Gayle Wharton of Sacramento, California; Bradley Wharton of Newark, California; Henry Farrell Rollins of Sacramento, California; Richard Mays Jr. (Amna) of Little Rock, Arkansas; Kimberly Smith of Chicago, Illinois; Latisse Stovall (James) of West Orange, New Jersey; Tiffany Mays of Little Rock, Arkansas; and a host of great, great nieces and nephews, cousins, church members and many wonderful dedicated friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2009, 11:30 am at Macedonia United Methodist Church, located at 224 Silver Ridge Road, Lockesburg, Arkansas, 71846. Family and friends viewing hour will be held prior to the funeral service at 10:30 am at the church, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Burial will follow in the Holly Spring Cemetery, Lockesburg.

Altie Dena Summit Priddy

Altie Dena Summit Priddy, age 92, of Wickes, Arkansas, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 at her home.

She was born December 10, 1916 in Sims, Arkansas to the late Porter Granvel Summit and the late Marada Abernathy Summit. She was united in marriage to the late Lonnie Priddy. She was a homemaker and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by:

Son: Junior Priddy and wife Pat of Mena, Arkansas

Daughters: Callie Turner and husband Glen of Mena, Arkansas

Freda Baker of Wickes, Arkansas

18 grandchildren

Numerous great and great-great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, Porter and Merada Summit, her husband, Lonnie David Priddy, 2 sons, Edward and Porter Priddy and 6 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. Interment follows at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be general.

Pallbearers will be Mitchel Priddy, Jerry Priddy, Lynn Priddy, Rusty Revels, Seth Wolf and Justin Baker.

Horacio "Rosko" Gonzalez

Horacio "Rosko" Gonzalez, age 24, a resident of De Queen, AR died Saturday, February 7, 2009 in De Queen.

He was born February 8, 1984 in De Queen to Barbara Hudson and Alex Gonzalez. He worked for Pilgrims Pride in De Queen and was a member of the De Queen Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Hudson of De Queen; his father, Alex Gonzalez of Hobbs, New Mexico; three brothers, Gene Hudson and family, Valentin Gonzalez and family of Batesville, Arkansas and Alex Gonzalez Jr. and family of Hobbs, New Mexico; nine sisters, Annette Turner and family of Wickes, Arkansas, Sallie Medina and family of Batesville, Arkansas, Nina Ahmed and family of De Queen, Shalamar Dinger of Lockesburg, Arkansas, Cheyenne Hudson of De Queen, Yammi, Yanice and Gypsey Gonzalez all of Hobbs, New Mexico; a number of nieces and nephews. He will be clearly missed by many friends and family.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 in the Redmen Cemetery with Rev. Grant Groves officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Linda Lee Whisenhunt Vaught

Mrs. Linda Lee Whisenhunt Vaught, age 68, a resident of Horatio, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 in the University of Arkansas Medical Science, Little Rock. She was born to Samuel Lee and Dora Augusta Mangus Whisenhunt at Arkinda, Arkansas, on June 15, 1940.

She was a 1958 graduate of Gillham High School. She and her husband, J. D. were farmers and ranchers, and were selected Farm Family of the Year in 1975. She was a member of the Wickes Church of Christ, and enjoyed cooking, cows, gardening, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Buddy and Harvey Don Whisenhunt. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, J. D. Vaught of Horatio, a daughter, Carla Vaught of Mena, Arkansas, three sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Emilee Vaught, Joey and Lori Vaught and Jon and DeAnn Vaught all of Horatio, three brothers, Gene Whisenhunt, David Whisenhunt, and Charlie Whisenhunt all of Gillham, Arkansas, one sister, Inez Parks of Wickes, seven grandchildren, Jade, Caitlan, Brittanee, Shyann, Josie, Tanner, and Ryan, one great-grandchild, Rylee, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Linda Vaught will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in the First Assembly of God Church of De Queen with Rev. Coy Arnold and David Jacobs, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery, Horatio. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 9th from 6:00 to 800 p.m.

Alvin David Jr. “Butch” Wright

Mr. Alvin David. Jr., “Butch” Wright, age 70, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009, in the Christus St. Michael Hosptial, Texarkana.

He was born to Alvin David, Sr. and Gracie Bell Wright at Aurora, Ill, on March 1, 1938. Butch served in the military with the U. S. Army. He was retired from the De Queen Medical Center, where he served in maintenance, and was a Baptist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting with coffee shop buddies, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Johnny.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Davis Wright of De Queen, a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Linda Brew of Olathe, Colorado, a daughter and son-in-law, Brandi and Shawn Smith of Mena, Ark.; two sisters, Carolyn Pope of Broken Bow, Okla.; and Brenda Trejo of Lone Star, Tex.; four grandchildren, Brittany, Brenna, Michelle, and Brianna, a great-grandchild, Chole, a special nephew, Al Wright of New Boston, Tex. a special niece, Casey Russell of De Queen. Butch is also survived by his wife’s family, two brothers-in-law, Buddy and his wife, Ruth Davis of Nashville, Tenn.; and Jimmy and his wife, Teresa Davis of Umpire, Ark.; five sisters-in-law, Shirley and her husband, Joe Frachiseur, and Cathy Bennett of De Queen, Shelby Jeans, and Glenda and her husband, Ronald Peden of Nashville, Ark.; and Lenda and her husband, Bob Taylor of Wynnewood, Okla., as well as other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Butch Wright will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2009 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Hebert officiating. Burial will follow in the Section Cemetery near Athens, Arkansas, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5th.

Karen Sue Murray

Karen Sue Murray, age 51, a resident of De Queen died Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Durant.

She was born May 21, 1957 to Charles and Louise Olenick. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by her mother.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley Murray of De Queen; one son, Jerry Glenn Isaac II of Hot Springs; one daughter, Amanda Louise Willis of De Queen; her father, Charles Olenick of Durant, Oklahoma; two brothers, Charles Ray Olenick of Nacogdoches, Texas and Billy Ray Olenick of Durant; five sisters, Peggy Joyce Newberry of Ugen, OR; Ammie Olenick of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; Patricia Ann Davis of Livingston, Texas; Sandy Louise Lambert of Florida; Lee Nell Pressley of Ugen, Oregon; three step-sons: Ricky Robinson of Mena, Arkansas, Doug and Tina Robinson of De Queen and Danny and Tracy Robinson of Horatio; one step-daughter, Melissa Hobbs of De Queen; 15 grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and good friend, Kenneth Robinson of De Queen.

A Memorial Gathering for Mrs. Murray will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the home of Melissa Hobbs, 110 Glasgow Lane, De Queen, Arkansas
