J. Brice Bigham
Mr. J. Brice Bigham, age 84, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 in the Christus St. Michael Health System, Texarkana.
He was born to Ally Green and Cora Mae Shannon Bigham at Paducah, Texas, on January 17, 1923. J. B. married Billie Wileman at Carlsbad, New Mexico on July 17, 1943, and to this marriage three sons were born. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser Company, where he was a Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cattle, and was a horseman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Harlan Bigham, and a sister, Gwendolyn Beutelschies.
He is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Billie D. Wilemon Bigham of De Queen, two sons and daughter-in-law, Gary W. Bigham of De Queen, Bill and Pam Bigham of Gillham; three grandchildren, J. Mark Bigham of De Queen, Ron L. Bigham of Louisville, and Jessica K. Bigham of Gillham, one great-grandchild, T. J. Bigham of Mena, Ark.; two sisters, Bonnie Wright and Peggy Miller both of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at the Chapel Hill Baptist Church, De Queen on Monday, October 15, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Bro. Homer Frachiseur officiating, arrangements by Chandler Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Joe McDonald
Mr. Joe Edward McDonald, age 56, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Thursday, October 11, 2007 in the Wadley Regional Medical Center, Texarkana.
Joe was born to Joseph Wothern and Essie Marie Pickett McDonald at La Mesa, Texas, on April 13, 1951. He was retired from the KCS Railroad, and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Horatio.
He was preceded in death by his parent, and two brothers, James H. McDonald and Donald Charles McDonald.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Joe, Jr. and Ginni McDonald of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, one granddaughter, Kirstie McDonald of Ft. Smith, one brother, Junior McDonald of Lockesburg, five sisters, Sue Bennett of LA; Wanda Bagwell of Arlington, Texas, Billie Ramasco, Joyce Brewer, and Varda Bohannon all of Horatio, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Joe McDonald will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 14, 2007 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. J.L. Walker officiating.
Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2007.
Mrs. Anna Meredith
Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Burson Meredith, age 77, a resident of Idabel, Oklahoma died Thursday, October 11, 2007 in the McCurtain Memorial Hospital.
She was born February 14, 1930 in Memphis, TN. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ; her life was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Meredith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnnie M. Meredith on April 15, 1982 and one grandson, Glen Bowline.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie and Sonia Meredith of Haworth, OK; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lorene and Butch Gardner of Cleveland, TX, Linda and Donald Dorey of Idabel, OK and Lisa Meredith and her life long partner, Mellisa Watts of Spencerville, OK; her brother-in-law, Bob Crain of Midwest City, OK; her grandchildren, LaGena Williston, Robert Endicott, Ramona Robb, William Dorey, Wayne Dorey, Justin Meredith, Magan Meredith, Ashley Brown, and Sean Meredith-Watts and 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Meredith will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2007 in the Pauley Cemetery
with Darrell “Cy” Davis officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Mrs. Pauline Harrison
Mrs. Pauline Wilson Harrison, age 79, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, October 10, 2007 in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born to Autry David and Ressie Ruth Cobb Wilson in Horatio, Arkansas, on April 1, 1928. She was a retired employee of Baldwin as well as a homemaker. She married Elvin C. Harrison, Jr. at Humble, Texas, on July 11, 1945, and to this marriage, two sons and two daughters were born. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Horatio, and the VFW Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband E. C. Harrison, Sr.. a grandson, Jeremy Johnson, and a sister, Doris B. Smith.
She is survived by two sons, and daughters-in-law, Elvin C., Jr. and Becky Harrison of Grannis, Bobby Dean and Barbara Harrison of Horatio; two daughters and son-in-law, Judy Faye Harrison of Garland, Texas, and Jackie Lane and David Alves of De Queen, one brother, Adie David Wilson of Milton-Freewater, Oregon; four sisters, Marie Hendrix of El Dorado, Arkansas, Ruth Wilson of De Queen, Linda Dell Culp of De Queen, Glenda Nell Swim of Kerrville, Texas, six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Pauline Harrison will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2007 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. L. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The family will be at the home of Jackie and David Alves, 133 Taylor Lane, De Queen.
Mr. Richard Clarence Braud
Mr. Richard Clarence Braud, age 63, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, October 5, 2007, in the Wadley Regional Medical Center.
He was born to Henry Joseph “Dick” and Winoa Causey Braud in Ascension Parrish, Louisiana, on November 28, 1943. He married Carolyn Wolcott at De Queen, Arkansas on December 20, 1964, and to this marriage, a daughter was born.
He was a member of the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church of De Queen, where he served as Head Deacon for over 15 years. He was an employee of the City of De Queen, as well as a finish carpenter. He enjoyed fishing, and the youth of the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Grace Millet.
He is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Carolyn Wolcott Braud of De Queen, one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and George Stanley DeVore of De Queen, two grandchildren, Sara Joycelyn DeVore and Curtis DeVore both of De Queen, one brother, Curtis P. Braud of Gonzales, La.; one sister, Elaine Kling of Baton Rouge, La.;and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife's family, his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Alma Wolcott of De Queen, one brother and sister-in-law, Odean and Sue Wolcott of De Queen, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Sparacino of De Queen.
Funeral Services for Mr. Richard Braud will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2007, in the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Tommy Blount officiating. Burial will follow in the Beacon Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home,De Queen, Arkansas.
Mr. Robert A. "Bob" Thompson
Robert A. “Bob” Thompson, age 63, a resident of Lockesburg, AR died Saturday, October 6, 2007 at his home.
He was born September 21, 1944 in Houston, Texas to A.E. and Mary Mae McLane Thompson. He was a retired retailer for Wal-Mart Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Pickett Thompson of Lockesburg; two sons, Stephen Robert Thompson of Boulder, CO and Ryan Allen Thompson of Steamboat Springs, CO; a sister, Carolyn Logan of Plano, TX; one aunt and four uncles.
Funeral Services for Mr. Thompson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2007 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Nicholson, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 8th at the funeral home
Mr. Virgil W. Cothren
Virgil “Wat” Cothren passed away in Dierks, Arkansas, on Thursday, October 4, 2007, after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
He was born to Virgil P. Cothren and Dora Payne Cothren on September 27, 1919, in Center Point, Arkansas. He was a forester, a World War II U.S. Airforce veteran, active member of Carrollton Methodist Church in New Orleans, Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock, and most recently Dierks United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Duncan, and his sister Rose Beryl Reese.
He is survived by his wife Mildred, of 64 years, his son Michael, his daughter-in-law Susan, and his grand daughters Emma and Nora, whom he adored every day of their lives; his brother, Archie, and by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will always be remembered for his devotion for and dedication to his extended family. We will miss him.
Funeral Services for Mr. Cothren will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2007 in the Dierks Methodist Church with Rev. Garry Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

Mr. Jesse Johnson
Mr. Jesse Johnson, age 91, life long resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Tuesday, October 2, 2007, in De Queen.
He was born to John G. and Frances Maples Johnson at Lockesburg, Arkansas, on September 29, 1916. He was a retired farmer and rancher, and he enjoyed deer, turkey, and fox hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Rink Johnson, a daughter, Charlotte Crenshaw Cannon, three brothers, Joe, Gus, and Johnny Johnson, and six sisters, Eugenia Young, Dell Mauldin, Mildred Brown, Marquerine Dump, Helene Taggart, and Blanche Johnson.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Neal and Wanda Johnson of Ashdown, Dr. Wayne and Dr. Debra Johnson of Houston, Texas, four daughters and sons-in-laws, Anita Jean and Albert Gentry of De Queen, Phyllis Gaddis of Hot Springs, Ark.; Margie and Jerry Christie of Nashville, Ark.; and Carla and Jody Currence of Walker, La.; 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews, as well as other family members.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Jesse Johnson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2007 in the Redmen Cemetery
with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2007.
Mr. Walter J. Allen
Mr. Walter Julian Allen, age 78, a resident of Birmingham, Alabama, died Sunday, September 30, 2007 from injuries received in an automobile accident at Ida, Louisiana.
He was born September 10, 1929 at Flat Top, Alabama, and was a retired civil engineer. He was a musician and played the guitar, piano, and saxophone.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Leroy Stubbs of De Queen, one son, Walter J. Allen, Jr. of Alabaster, Alabama, and three grandchildren.
