Shipman, Mrs. Larae Peagler, age 28, of Charlotte, NC, died Friday, June 25, 1999. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Charlotte, former resident of Birmingham and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church; graduate of Jackson Olin High School, Talladega College and Jacksonville State University. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 1, at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with burial in Carver Memorial Gardens. Rev. Steve Small officiating. Deveridge, Mrs. Rosa M., age 72, of Dolomite, died June 27, 1999. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Dolomite. Fickett, Julia Evelyn Williams
Fickett, Julia Evelyn Williams, 83, departed her earthly bonds to rest in eternal peace with her God and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 28, 1999. Born in Thomasville, North Carolina on May 17, 1916, Mrs. Fickett resided with her family in Charlotte, North Carolina; Jacksonville, Florida and, since 1966, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a homemaker and an accomplished floral designer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Ellis Fickett, in 1972; sister, Gertrude Williams Bradley, in 1971; and brother, Edward Malcolm Williams, in 1996. She was a devoted Christian, wife and mother. She is survived by her son, Dr. Alan G. Fickett and wife, Harriet B. of Winter Springs, Florida, and her daughter, Julia Kay Fickett of Hoover, Alabama. Other survivors include her sister, Mildred 'Billie' Williams Gregory of Swannanoa, North Carolina; brother, James Merrimon Williams, Jr. of Gainesville, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral services will be held in Birmingham at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, at Ridout's Valley Chapel Funeral Home. A reception for friends and family will follow at Ridout's Valley Chapel. Graveside services will then be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia, North Carolina. Higgins, Mr. Jack Allen
Higgins, Mr. Jack Allen, age 69, of Mulga, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2000. He was a member of Village Falls United Methodist Church, and retired from Hayes Aircraft after (42) forty-two years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, after (44) forty-four years of marriage, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and son. He served as a Council member at Mulga for ten years before becoming Mulga’s Mayor in 1980 and serving for (16) sixteen years, and currently served as a board member of Village Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, from 5:308:00 p.m., at Bell Funeral Home in Forestdale. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 18, at 2:00 p.m., in the Bell Forestdale Chapel with burial in Village Falls Cemetery. Rev. Joey Mojica will officiate, grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers will be Lester Turner and Ralph Coleman.
