Naomi Mary Magdalene Hartsfield, 84, of Sterrett died April 4, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. "Eute" Hartsfield, and her daughter, Jo Ann Ramsey.
She is survived by two daughters, Martha Missildine and Rebecca King; one son, Roy E. Hartsfield; one brother, Eugene Champion; four sisters, Irene Shoop, Lillian Brasher, Verna Mae Guy and Hellen Hartsfield; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Service was April 7 at Kilgroe Chapel with burial following at Ebenezer Cemetery in Sterrett, Kilgroe Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by his son, Ian Van Ashley; his mother, Faye Ashley; two sisters, Melanie Ashley and Rebecca (Von) Arthur; and three nephews, Devon, Von and Jesse Arthur.

Zora Mae Hale Finley, 90, of Alabaster died April 7, 2002. She was born in January 1912 in Shelby County. She was a member of Camp Branch United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Doris (E.J) Hall of Woodsboro, Md., Ann (Monroe) Wood of Harpersville, David (Dot) Hoyt Finley of Columbiana and Howard Finley of Pelham; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and four sisters-in-law.
Service will be today, April 10 at Bolton Brown Service Chapel, the Rev. Sam Holliday presiding. Burial will follow at Nabors Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.

Norman R. Brasher, 71, of Pelham died April 3, 2002. He served in the United States Army, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pelham and retired from Alabama Power Company in 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jewel S. Brasher; a son, Mike Brasher of Pelham; a daughter, Joy (Doug) Gardner of Pelham; a sister, Bonnie Sorrell of Pelham; one uncle, Howard Bramblett of Helena; and several nieces and nephews.
Service was April 5 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Ron Schultz and Roger Short presiding. Burial followed in Pelham City Cemetery, Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.

Hazel D. Hyde, 73, of Dogwood died April 6, 2002. She was a member of the Fongo Hollow Assembly of God in Pelham.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Hyde of Montevallo; one son, Johnny Hyde of Montevallo; her stepmother, Meddie Lawley of Montevallo; one sister, Lorine Hughes of Columbiana; two half sisters, Laura Lutz of Bibb County and Bernice Lawley of Bessemer; four half brothers, Mack Lawley and Willie Lawley, both of Maylene, Joe Wayne Lawley of Vandiver and Robert Lawley of Natchez, Miss.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Service was April 9 at Rockco's Funeral Home Chapel, Bob Williams and John Blackstock presiding. Burial followed in Antioch Cemetery, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

Millard Wayne Epperson, 59, of Columbiana died July 29, 2002. He was born on March 8, 1943 in Shelby County.
He is survived by his daughters, Connie Wilson of Columbiana, Cynthia Vincent of Woodstock and April Epperson of Bessemer; son, Michael Epperson of Hueytown; brothers, Donald Epperson and Wilbur Epperson, both of Chilton County; grandchildren, Danny, Dewayne, Kendra, Kristin, Haley and Holli; and great-grandchildren, Austin and Chase.
Fneral was Aug. 1 at Mt. Era United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Mt. Era Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.
RICHARD "DICK" GWISDALA

Richard "Dick" Gwisdala, 78, of Birmingham died Aug. 2, 2002.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Prisoner of War. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Gwisdala; daughter, Barbara Key and husband, Timothy of Birmingham; grandchildren, Jennifer Key of South Bend, Ind., and Carrie and Emily Key of Birmingham; sister, Geraldine Ottney and husband, Tom of Ohio.
Funeral was Aug. 6 at Our Lady of the Valley with Father John Hartsfield presiding. Burial was in Southern Heritage Cemetery, Southern Heritage directing.

Lillie Ione Kirkley Howard, 88, of Montevallo died July 23, 2002 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Alabama on March 16, 1914, the daughter of David A. and Amanda Lavonia Hollis Kirkley. She was a member of Rocky Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Bailey Minor, Dorothy J. Barnett (Bill); sons, Roger Howard and Jimmy Stringfellow; grandsons, Tim Bailey (Christine), Grady Dana Barnett (Donna) and Billy Barnett; granddaughters, Becky Nall (Bill), Sherron Doonan (Drew), Susan Coleman (Tom) and Jeanie Smith; great-grandchildren, Rachel Bailey, Timothy Bailey, Joel Bailey, David Shores (Monica), Jon Shores, Sandy Shores, Jenny Shores, Kenneth Camp, Sean Camp, Christopher Barnett, Nicole Barnett, Madison Smith, Louie Smith, and Christopher Smith; great-great grandson, Koltyn Shores; and other family members and friends.
