Shirley Ann Spicer, 73, of Montevallo died Dec. 16, 2002. She was born in Nebraska in 1929. She was a teacher and later was employed as a nurse.
She is survived by her four sons, Clay Spicer of Boston, Mass., Noel (Lynn) Spicer of Birmingham, Shawn (Suzanne) Spicer of Bonn, Germany, and Paul Spicer of Cashiers, N.C.; three daughters, Anita Spicer of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Erin Spicer of Pensacola, Fla., and Elaine (Joe Brandon) Spicer of Dillon, Mon.; one brother, John Lett of Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other family, friends and her beloved dog, Poncho.
Service was Dec. 20 at Charter Funeral Home.
HERSHEL STEVE WALLACE

Hershel Steve Wallace, 64, of Randolph died Dec. 17, 2002, in Alabaster.
He is survived by two aunts, Marie Collins of Jemison and Ann Porter of Jemison; one uncle, Allen Wallace; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Hollis of Birmingham and Selvis Wallace of Randolph; four nephews, Ronald Wallace of Birmingham, Greg Wallace of Randolph, Tim Wallace of Brent and Bradley Wallace of Randolph; one niece, Dianne McDonald of Vestavia Hills; and a host of cousins.
Service was Dec. 20 at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Terry Smith presiding. Burial followed at Shady Grove Cemetery, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.
WILMA M. WILKERSON

Wilma M. Wilkerson, 76, of Wilsonville died Dec. 19, 2002. She was born in 1926 in Randolph County, Ala. She was a member of Wilsonville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a son, Donald C. Wilkerson.
She is survived by her husband, James B. Wilkerson; three children, Rita Gail Piper of Wilsonville, Kenneth R. Wilkerson of Cullman and JoAnn Jones of Trussville; four sisters, Eula Hester and Alma May of Roanoke, Velma Waldrop of LaGrange, Ga., and Virginia Windsor of Wadley; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Service was Dec. 21 at Wilsonville Baptist Church, the Rev. Steve Thomas presiding. Burial followed in Wilsonville Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.

Rubye Esma Bular, 81, of Calera died Feb. 3, 2003, in Calera.
She is survived by one daughter, Oneida (Buck) Compton of Calera; one son, William C. Austell of Peotone, Ill.; one sister, Loretta (Maloy) Williams of Huntland, Tenn.; two brothers, Royce (Nina) Payne of Huntland, Tenn., and William (Faye) Payne of Savannah, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Debra, Sandi, Bobby, Billy and Jacque; and seven great-grandchildren, Lonnie, Michelle, Michael, Mark, Zack, Sean and Claude.
Service was Feb. 5 at Rockco's Funeral Home chapel in Montevallo, Bob Williams presiding. Burial followed in Shelby Memory Gardens, Rockco's directing.
FREDERICK F. CAMERON JR.
Former teacher at Indian Springs School
Frederick F. Cameron Jr., 90, of Mentor, Ohio, died Jan. 18, 2003, at LakeEast Hospital in Painesville, Ohio.
He lived in Shelby County before moving to Ohio 23 years ago.
He served in the United States Navy from 1942-45. He was a lieutenant second grade and was captain of a landing craft on D-Day. He was the athletic director at West Chester High School and a health instructor at Miami University in Ohio. He also served as a coah at Ohio State. He retired after 25 years as physical education director of Indian Springs School, where he coached baseball, basketball, golf and tennis. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra (Cameron) Garrison, two sisters, Bernice Johnson and Ruth Rinn; and one brother, John Cameron.
He is survived by his wife, Marian (Lippitt); his daughter, Constance (Gary) Garrett of Frostproof, Fla.; grandchildren, Felicia Kline of Memphis, Tenn., Anna Henry of Carrolton, Ga., Jennifer and Daniel Garrison, both of Villa Ricca, Ga., and Patrick and Frederick Garrett, both of Frostproof, Fla.; eight great- grandchildren; and his sister, Caroline (Kenneth) Coppock of Mentor.
Service was in Painesville, Ohio. The family requests memorial donations be made to his local church or the American Red Cross, for which he was a volunteer.

Myra Nell Caton, 68, of Maylene died Feb. 11, 2003.
She is survived by one daughter, Gaynelle Caton of Maylene; two sons, George Garry Caton of Birmingham and Tim Caton of West Blocton; one sister, Grace Hutchinson of Pelham; two brothers, J.C. Headley of Brantleyville and Norris L. "Red" Headley of Birmingham; three grandchildren, Shane Caton, Paige Lanier and T.J. Caton; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Lanier, Danielle Lanier and Erica Caton.
Graveside service was Feb. 13 at Ryans Cemetery in Maylene, Rockco's Funeral Home directing.
LIZZIE LANGLEY DAVIS

Lizzie Langley Davis, 102, of Columbiana died Feb. 11, 2003. She was born Sept. 28, 1900, in Shelby and was a founding member of the New Bethesda Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joshaway Davis.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Frances Bailey of Columbiana; her son, Ervin Davis of Columbiana; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Service was Feb. 13 at Bolton Brown Service Chapel, the Rev. Roland Foster presiding. Burial followed in Foster Cemetery, Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home directing.
MARY RUTH HARDIN ELLIOTT

Mary Ruth Hardin Elliott, 79, of Birmingham died Feb. 10, 2003.
She is survived by her husband, William (Mutt) Elliott of Birmingham; two sons, Richard (Robbie) Elliott of Hoover and Lester (Patsy) Elliott of Birmingham; one daughter, Mary Louise Elliott of Hudson, Fla.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Rick Hardin of Mobile; one sister, Nellie Jo Smith of Texas; and her special friend, Jean Ashworth.
Graveside service was Feb. 12 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.
BENNY JO MOSS FANCHER

Benny Jo Moss Fancher, 73, of Montevallo died at her home on Feb. 14, 2003. She was a registered nurse who had retired from the Westinghouse Corporation. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1950 and was named one of 10 outstanding women at the university. She was president of her senior class. Following graduation, she did additional work at Vanderbilt University. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ross of Clinton, Okla.
She had lived in Montevallo since 1962, where she was active in community and public school activities. She was co-president of the first unified PTA in Montevallo and a member of the Women's Committee for the Birmingham Symphony. She served on the board of the Montevallo City Library, the Shelby Emergency Center and the Montevallo Community Theater. She was an active member of the Montevallo Presbyterian Church and worked for many years as a volunteer for Montevallo Elementary School.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Fancher of Montevallo; two sons, David (Cheri) Fancher of Gardendale and Stephen Fancher of Calera; four grandchildren, Molly, Jennifer, Andrew and Katie; a brother, Bill (Faye) Fancher of Midwest City, Okla.; and an aunt, Velma Midford of Ada, Okla.
Service was Feb. 18 at Montevallo Cemetery, with a memorial held at Montevallo Presbyterian Church, the Rev. John Sims presiding and Rockco's Funeral Home directing.

VERA WILLIS FRYER
Expert seamstress
Vera Willis Fryer, 95, died Feb. 10, 2003, at the Spring City Care Center in Spring City, Tenn., where she had resided for several years.
Born in Chandler Springs, Ala., she lived most of her life in central Alabama. During World War II, she worked at Beecham-McComb aircraft factory and later as an expert seamstress at McCain Manufacturing.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jimmie Lou Fleming; and her parents, James Elbert and May Catherine Epperson Wills.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Glenda Fleming of Albany, Ore.; and two sisters, Liddie Fancher and Lera Williams.
Graveside service was Feb. 14 at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City, Tenn. directing.
