HALLMAN, Mattie Jane Conner, 90, of Montgomery, AL passed away peacefully after an extended illness. She is preceded in death, by her husband, Daniel Hallman, her daughter, Sarah Hallman Thomas, son-in-law, Paul Dean Thomas, her parents, Will and Ardella Conner of Elmore County and nine siblings. She is survived by two granddaughters, Mila Thomas, Montgomery, and Rebecca Thomas, Pike Road, AL and a beloved Scottish Terrier, Maxwell or "Michael, Mackerel, and Malcolm" as he was often called by her. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Leak Memory Chapel, Montgomery. A one-hour visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Leak Memory Chapel, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery. Mattie was born in Tallapoosa County, AL and moved multiple times around Coosa and Elmore Counties before finally settling in Montgomery many years ago. "Granny" is remembered by her grandchildren for strong perseverance through many adverse circumstances over the years. She was a wonderful grandmother who acknowledged Christ in all things. One overriding theme could be used as her motto from Romans 1:16, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes." Her loyalty to her church, Pentecostal Life Church, was unquestionable. The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice in Montgomery for their ever-present care and support, as well as the wonderful care-giver staff from ResCare Home Care. REINEHR, Betty passed away peacefully on 28 October 2011 after an extended illness. She was the wife of Francis G. (Micky) Reinehr. Betty was born November 17, 1917 to Frank & Leynora Smith of Youngstown, Ohio. She was raised in Youngstown where she attended Youngstown University. While attending Youngstown University she met Micky Reinehr, whom she married on October 26, 1941 at Epworth Methodist Church in Youngstown, Ohio. Micky already was serving with the US Army on December 7, 1941, and soon thereafter was shipped to Europe, not to return until January, 1946. After his return they lived in Pittsburgh PA and Wheeling WV, before moving to Montgomery in August of 1960. Betty is a member of First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Montgomery Country Club. She enjoyed playing golf as well as serving as a Red Cross volunteer. In 2007 she retired from the Red Cross after serving for 46 years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 52 years. She is survived by her son, Charles M. Reinehr and his wife, Linda, her brother Frank Smith and his wife, Catherine Smith of Carver MA, sister-in-law Janet Reinehr Parkinson and her husband, Charles O Parkinson, sister-in-law Lois Reinehr, two grandchildren, Charles H. Reinehr & Catherine E. Reinehr and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grandnephews. A service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 2nd, with Reverend David Saliba presiding. Visitation will be held in the hour prior to the service. LINDSEY, Mattie Money, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the age of 73 yrs. old. She is preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Lindsey, of 59 yrs. She is survived by 5 children, Shirley "Ann" Bowden (Montg., AL), ex son-in-law Dale Bowden, (which she loved like her son), Gloria (Mike) Tanner (Selma, AL), Jimmy (JoAnne) Lindsey (Ft. Walton Beach, Fla), Lisa (Tim) Talley (Montg., AL), Chris Lindsey (Prattville, AL; One brother, Charles Money (Montg., AL; brother-in-law, Dennis Lindsey (Mobile, AL; sister-in-law, Mary Lindsey (Montg., AL), and to her nephew, Johnny Anderson, who had a very special place in her heart. She has 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A very special thank you to Carolyn Flynn, whom was a very dear friend and an angel to our family. KAESTEL, Mildred L. "Millie" Danielson, a World War II veteran, went home to be with our Lord on Monday October 31, 2011 with her family by her side while at home. She was loving and caring person to everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her son John Danielson. Survivors are her husband, Werner Kaestel; daughter and son-in-law Tamera "Tammy" Benny Lee Perdue; sisters, Jean Marple and Joyce Cockrell; a brother, David Czyzewski; grandsons, Matthew Marks and Jeffery Marks and his wife Michelle; granddaughters, Heather Danielson, Michelle Wolter and Colleen Neely; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jasmine Marks; and a devoted friend, Carroll Warlick. Funeral service for Mr. Jack Dodson Granger, 84, of Equality, will be Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Equality United Methodist Church with veteran's honors provided by the Alexander City Veteran's Honor Guard. Mr. Granger passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 at his residence. He was born on September 16, 1927 in Equality, Alabama to John M. Granger and Lona Belle Nolen Granger. He was a member of Equality United Methodist Church. Mr. Granger enjoyed turkey and deer hunting, playing Dominos, and he was an avid Auburn football fan. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann Ham Granger of Equality; daughter, Annette Granger Presley (Tim) of Opp; sons, Jack Dodson Granger, Jr. (Rita) of Slapout and David Michael Granger (Lynn) of Equality; grandchildren, Valerie Presley Carnley (Josh), Mandie Granger Barrett (Brian), Jeremy Maynard (Tonya), Trey Presley, Brandon Granger, Chad Granger, Brett Granger, and Mary Katherine Granger; great-grandchildren, Presley Carnley, Harlie Barrett, Tyce Maynard, Baylie Barrett, Stella Kayte Carnley, and Granger Barrett; and sisters, Sarah Granger Mullins of Equality and Gabie Granger Bussie of Alexander City. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John Maxie Granger, Jr., Robert Gatewood Granger, Mitchell Parker Granger, and James Nolen Granger. BOWLES, Anne Marie Maloy went to be with the Lord Friday, October 28, 2011. She was born August 10, 1933 in Montgomery, AL. She was a lifelong resident of Montgomery and had been an active member of Pintlala Baptist Church for many years where she taught Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Bowles; her parents, Joe Bruce and Verla Lucretia Maloy; and by her brother and sister-in-law, Joe B. Maloy Jr. and Ida Maloy. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Gordon Jones, and one grandson, Zac Jones. Per Anne's request, her body was donated to the UAB Anatomical Donor Program for medical research. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 2:30 PM at Pintlala Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Burton officiating. ELLIOTT, Jack W., Chaplain Col. USAF, (Ret.), passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011. Col. Elliott is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Williamson of Wetumpka, AL and Kimberly Harrison of Prattville, AL; his son, Christopher Elliott of Vestavia, AL; step-daughters, Melissa Absher of Bluffton, SC, and Courtney Schwable of Belleville, IL; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Louise Baldy of Haleyville, AL; and Carolyn Hood of Brilliant, AL and a brother, Boyd Chasteen, Jr. of Hartselle, AL. Col. Elliott was a retired Air Force Chaplain (Colonel) and a Southern Baptist Minister who was ordained at Capitol Heights Baptist Church and served as a pastor and Air Force Chaplain, devoting his life to God. He was a member of Capitol Heights Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. Col. Elliott graduated from the University of Alabama and New Orleans Southern Baptist Theological Seminary He served in the Air Force for 37 years and earned numerous awards and decorations. Col. Elliott was an avid Alabama fan - Roll Tide! Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2011. FORSTER, Leslie Stark of Montgomery, Alabama, age 44, went into the arms of the Lord on November 16, 2011 after a brief illness. Leslie was preceded in death by her grandparents Henry and Josephine Stark and Walter and Lillian Forster and her aunt Nova Lee Galvin. She is survived by her parents, Richard "Dick" and Doris Forster; brothers, Michael Forster (Valerie) and David Forster (Antrice), sister; Ann Elizabeth Forster, many loving and caring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A special "Thank You" to the doctors, nurses and staffs of Father Purcells (St. Jude Hospital), Tarwater and Partlow Facilities and Hilltop Home who cared for Leslie during her life and all those Saints at Princeton Baptist Hospital in Birmingham who showed their love and care for her in the last days and hours of her life. GIVHAN, ROBERT MARCUS "MARC" Local Attorney Robert Marcus "Marc" Givhan, passed away suddenly at the age of 52 on Nov. 16th. Marc was preceded in death by his mother, Marion Callen Givhan Stothart of Selma. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Janet Dothard Givhan; daughters Vivian Lee, Charlotte Ann, and Virginia Mae; his father Walter Houston Givhan (Jan); his brother Walter Douglas Givhan (Frances); sister Kirsten Callen Givhan; step-brothers George McKee (Michelle) and Robert McKee (Suzanne); aunt and uncles Walton Callen Russell, Sam Givhan (Lynn), and Jack Callen (Renee). Originally from Safford, Alabama, Marc attended John T. Morgan Academy and was a 1982 graduate of the University of Alabama. Marc attended Cumberland Law School and graduated in 1984. Marc began his legal career in Montgomery, working for the Montgomery County District Attorney's office. He then worked in the State Attorney General's office, serving with his good friend, Attorney General Jimmy Evans, for a total of seven years. Janet and Marc moved to Birmingham in 1995, and Marc went to work for the law firm of Johnston Barton, where he enjoyed the mentorship of James Barton, Sr. Marc worked at Johnston Barton for 16 years, where he made many loyal clients and friends in the Healthcare and Nursing Home fields. Marc recently left the firm to form the Birmingham office of Gilpin Givhan, with eight other attorneys. Marc was a very active and involved member of All Saints' Episcopal Church for 16 years, where he served on the Vestry, and also on the Stewardship and Finance committees. He was active in Cursillo, and taught adult Sunday school for many years. Marc was passionate about outreach and served faithfully on many projects. Marc had a great, dry sense of humor, loved to hunt and fish, and loved music, and especially live music. Marc was an organ donor. Marc really loved his family and friends, and his greatest pleasure in life was spending time with them. The funeral service for Marc will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Homewood on Saturday, November 19th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation in the Great Hall beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to All Saints' Episcopal Church or the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. JAKEMAN, Velma Louise of Tampa, Florida left us on the morning of November 15th to join her beloved husband Jake at the gates of Heaven. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth (Karen) Jakeman of Hope Hull, AL; Robert (Jean) Jakeman of West Columbia, SC; 7 grandchildren and many loved great grandchildren and great-great grand children. She diligently displayed her care for others by spending most of her life volunteering and working professionally with The American Red Cross of Tampa, a Registered Nurse [RN-BSN] with St. Josephs Womens Hospital in the Neo-Natal Care Unit and served with Hillsborough County Health Dept. in Tampa.
