Funeral service for Ms. Dale Anice Duke Coger, 65, of Daviston, will be Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Daviston Independent Methodist Church. She will lie in-state one hour prior to the service. Bro. Ray Dunn and Bro. Mark Rasbury will officiate. Burial will follow in the Darian Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. On April 25, 2011, Dale D. Coger was called away from this world to await our Lord. After a glorious life filled with wonderful memories, friends, and family, she passed away at the age of 65. Ms. Coger was born on September 6, 1945, to William Perry "Bud" Duke and Jackie Duke, who both preceded her in death. She had a sister, Allison Mescha, who lives with her spouse, John, in Miami Lakes, FL. She had a brother, William "Bill" Duke, who lives in Atlanta with his spouse, Maddy, and daughter, Allie. Ms. Coger retired from the Alabama Dept. of Public Safety in 2010 after 28 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed every moment of her time there and was blessed with an overwhelming number of dear friends. Upon retirement, she moved to Daviston, AL to surround herself with her "little angels", Mary Carol, Clark, Becca, Katie, and Jenna. They all loved and will miss "Moma Dale". Her spouse, Hugh Coger, and step-mother, Ruth Duke Young, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her step- daughter, Natalie Haynes and husband, Joe, of Daviston; step-sons, Shane and Patrick Coger, both of Alexander City and her six grandchildren, Emily Rasbury (Mark), Sabrina Wood (Teron), Marshall Coger, Skylar Coger, Christopher Coger and Kevin Coger. She is also survived by her long time devoted friend, W.T. Smith of Greenville. Ms. Coger's smile could light up a room, and her laughter was contagious. She could remember everyone's name and was truly a loving, caring, and genuine lady who was a blessing to all that met her. Radney Funeral Home in Alexander City is in charge of the arrangements.

COLEMAN, Miriam McGlamry Davis, age 76, of Montgomery Alabama, passed away on May 18. Visitation will be at Leak Memorial Chapel in Montgomery on Friday, May 20th at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 am, Rev. Walter Albritton of St. James United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Deatsville Chapel and Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Mathew Davis and later, James A. Coleman; granddaughter Ashley Davis; and brother-in-law Sonny Blake. Survivors include sons, J. Mark Davis (Ann) and S. Matthew Davis (Kathy) and Morgan S. Davis (Donna); grandchildren Kristopher M. Davis, Kathryn S. Davis, and John Taylor Davis; brothers, Sam McGlamry (Virginia), Douglas McGlamry (Virginia); sisters, Margaret McGlamry, Sara Parmer (TJ), and Eloise Blake; and many loving great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Miriam was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother and worked for many years as an accountant at Copeland, Franco, Screws and Gill, P.C., and Hargrove Supply Co. She loved gardening, spending time at the lake, and country life, operating a small timber farm with her husband Jim for many years. Despite being widowed as a young mother of three, Miriam worked hard to raise her family and overcome great difficulty. She was known as a smart, hard working, independent woman who cared for her neighbors and friends. Miriam grew up on a family farm in Deatsville, AL in Elmore County and graduated from Holtville High School. She quickly found a career in accounting and often performed work for small companies and contractors who needed her expertise. Miriam moved to Birmingham in 2005 to be near her family and made many special friends at Kirkwood by the River. Even during her recent illness, she could often be seen giving her time and attention to those around her in need and was a great encouragement. Our family is grateful for the caring concern shown by the staff and friends at Kirkwood by the River. COLVIN, McEllen "Chic" Howard, age 98, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, May 17, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas B. Colvin, her children: Vaughncile Fitzpatrick, Howard Colvin, Tommy Colvin (stepson); three brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include daughters: Gloria (Hollis) Scott, Brenda E. Colvin, Deborah A. Visitation will be held at McKenzie's Funeral Home on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The body will lie in repose at the Tuskegee University Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Mr. Lewis Berry Hickman III 1979-2011 Memorial service for Mr. Lewis Berry Hickman III, 31, of Equality, will be Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Equality United Methodist Church with Rev. John Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Equality United Methodist Church. Mr. Hickman passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at his residence. He was born on December 6, 1979 in Montgomery, Alabama to Lewis Berry Hickman, Jr. and Carol Duren Hickman. He was a member of First Baptist of Wetumpka. He enjoyed playing pool and riding the wave runner. He had many friends and never met a stranger. He was also a big "hugger" and was very kind hearted and loved everyone. He is survived by his mother, Carol Duren Hickman and father, Lewis Berry Hickman, Jr. of Equality; sister, Amber Carol Hickman McKowen (David, III) of Sterrett; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Velma and Lewis Hickman, Sr. and Gene and James R. Duren, Jr. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Equality United Methodist Church, 281 AL Hwy 259, Equality, AL 36026.
