ROGERS, Mrs. Leola Roshell Brown, a resident of Montgomery, AL departed this life Friday, January 16, 2009. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Mitchell, officiating. Interment will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery with Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, Inc., directing. Mrs. Rogers will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters; Elizabeth Ann Humphrey, Alfreda M. Rogers, Joyce M. Rogers, Linda Faye Roberts all of Montgomery, AL, and Min. Deloris (Rev Jeremiah) Zeigler of Wetumpka, AL, adopted daughter Bettie J. Nettles of Montgomery, AL; three sons Carl O. Rogers, Boston, MA, Alexander Rogers, Jr., San Diego, CA, and Lt. Lamar D. (Gwendolyn) Rogers, Pike Road, AL, son-in-law Peter J. Spears, Tuskegee, AL; sister Estella Duhart, Cleveland, OH, two adopted sisters Tommie Mae Williams and Sis Charlie Mae Singleton of Montgomery, AL; and two brothers, John Brown, Enterprise, AL and Herbert (Carol) Brown, Los Angeles, CA. Proud grandmother of fourteen, great-grand-mother of five, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. A dear friend Mrs. Margaret Burch of Montgomery, AL. Special thanks to Marlene Holmes and Kelly Youland and the staff of Odyssey/Vista Care. Leola retired from the Montgomery Community Action Agency after 30 years of employment. WHITE, Mrs. Sandra Elizabeth, age 62 of Arab, Alabama, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at her residence. She was born March 29, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri to Frederick Earl McGlothlin and Mary Ella Gillespie McGlothlin. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Billy J. White, also of Arab, Alabama. She is also survived by her son, Bill Hendrix, Jr. (Dedie) of Alex City, Alabama, one daughter Deonna Hendrix Belcher (Keith) of Morrow, Georgia, a step son, Robert T. White (Sherri) of Helena, Alabama, a step daughter, Anna Christine Moxley (Richard) of Deatsville, Alabama, and six grandchildren, Paul Robinson, Amy Hudson, Madeline White, Emily White, Benjamin Hendrix and Richard G. Moxley, IV. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Patrick McGlothlin, her father and mother. She was a loyal and loving wife, mother and friend, compassionate and honest, and full of faith. For many years she was a rural route mail carrier, serving both the Bell Road area and lastly, Rural Route 1 in Snowdoun, Alabama. She was an artist, a lover of cats and nature, and a patriot. She wrote a guest column for the Arab Tribune. Until poor health prevented it, she was a Hospice volunteer. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. PARISH, William Martin

PARISH, William Martin "Bill," a resident of Somerset Assisted Living in Dothan, died Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 87. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Dothan with Dr. Johnny Fain, Dr. Harper Shannon and Rev. Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6267, Dothan, AL 36302, or to First Baptist Church, 300 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL 36303. Mr. Parish was born to Curtis Parish and Maude Murphy Parish on a farm near Abbeville on July 25, 1921 and lived the early years of his life there. He was a 1939 graduate of Abbeville High School and attended Holmes Junior College in Mississippi. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in the European Theater prior to his honorable discharge in 1945. He entered Auburn University in 1946 and graduated with a degree in agriculture and banking in 1948. Upon graduation, Mr. Parish was employed with the Farmer's Home Administration (USDA), in Houston County, making loans to farmers to buy land, homes and to operate their farms. He was later promoted to County Supervisor and put in charge of F.H.A. operations in Green and Hale counties. On August 1, 1955, Mr. Parish began a long career with Dothan Bank and Trust (later First Alabama Bank and now Regions Bank). He retired as Executive Vice-President in May of 1981. Mr. Parish was a member of First Baptist Church of Dothan. Mr. Parish was preceded in death by a sister, Delia Parish Knowles, (wife of James Arthur Knowles of Headland) and by his wife of 47 years, Frances Seay Parish, who went to be with the Lord on July 4, 1996. Survivors include his daughter, Jan Parish McBrayer, and her husband, Nicky, of Montgomery; two grandsons, Mark Parish McBrayer, and Thomas Edward McBrayer, both of Montgomery; a niece, Kay Knowles Hancock, and her husband, Steve, and their two daughters, Randi Hancock Harpe and Kendall Hancock Mims, and her husband, Joey, and their daughter, Murphy Lynn Mims, all of Headland. Serving as active pallbearers will be Jerry Johnson, George Flowers, Jack Stuckey, Jon Stuckey, George Murphy, Mack Murphy, Buddy Pittman and Steve Hancock. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Matthews - Sanders Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

TRAWICK, Audie Smith

TRAWICK, Audie Smith, a resident of Madison, AL and a native of Henry County, AL, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009. During her 100 years of life that began December 15, 1908, she was a devoted wife, dedicated mother, loving sister, loyal friend, adoring grandmother and great-grandmother and most importantly, a faithful servant of God. She faced many challenges and tragedies in her lifetime, but always had a hope that endured due to her unwavering faith. Mrs. Trawick resided at Morningside Assisted Living in Madison since 2006. Previously, for twenty-four years, she lived in Montgomery, AL, and prior to that for most of her life in Eufaula, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Trawick (1942), son, Robert Hugh Trawick (1955), daughter, Betty T. McCutchin (2006), and sisters, Maudie Smith Rhodes, Willie Belle Smith Capps and Lorraine Smith Owens. Survivors include her daughter, Marcia T. Fugaro and husband, RADM Anthony Fugaro of Cleveland, OH, son-in-law, Emmett (Pete) L. McCutchin of Montgomery, AL; two grandchildren, Dr. Steven H. Fugaro and wife, Jill of San Francisco, CA, Judith Jones and husband, George of Madison, AL; four great-grandchildren, Kevin Fugaro, Morgan Miller, Audrey Miller and Isaac Jones. She is also survived by a niece, Margie Bush, nephews, Joe and Edward Rhodes, great-nephew, Steve Trawick and a host of other dearly loved family. STEPHENS, Col. Robert A., USAR, of Ozark, Alabama passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. EST Friday, January 23, 2009, at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Seale, Alabama under the direction of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Ozark-Dale County Public Library, 416 James Street, Ozark, AL 36360 or Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302. Col. Stephens was born in Augusta, Georgia on January 1, 1930 and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1953. He entered the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant, attended flight school, and went to Korea as a helicopter evacuation pilot. After leaving active duty, he joined the Army Reserves where he retired as a Colonel after serving in various places for 39 years. He worked at Fort Rucker as a Department of the Army Civilian flight instructor for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto H. Stephens and Katherine Spears Stephens. Survivors include his wife, Roses O'Leary Stephens; four children, Mark Stephens (Wini), Susan Creel (Doug), Bill Stephens (Allyson), Bo Stephens (Barbara); twelve grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary O. CAMP, Frances Prickett

CAMP, Frances Prickett, 92, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 22, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Frances was born in Guntersville, AL, but her father was a Methodist minister so she moved often during her childhood. She graduated from the University of Montevallo in 1938 and then taught at Isabella High School where she met the love of her life, Harold Camp who also taught at the school. After a whirlwind romance, they married on April 22, 1939. The family moved to Montgomery in 1944 and Frances became a full time wife and mother. In addition to raising five children, she was a substitute teacher, Cub Scout den mother, a Tri-Hi-Y advisor, and donated numerous hours to charitable causes. She was a charter member of St. James United Methodist Church and presently a long time member of Frazier Memorial United Methodist Church, past president of the Montgomery Homebuilders Association Auxiliary, and past president of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John Harold Camp, Sr. and daughter, Mary Frances Camp. Camp, Jr., and Eugene Carter Camp, both of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, James H. Camp, Ph.D., Christopher Robins Camp, Donna Estelle Lawrence, Dana Frances Lawrence, Suzanne Camp Brocato, Kay Annette Thomas, Mike Bancroft, Paul Bancroft, Tyler Condon Traficanti, Catherine Hails Condon, and Elizabeth Broun Condon; and five great grandchildren.
