Odis O. Crews, 83, of Bagley died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, a World War II veteran, retired State Farm Insurance agent for 38 years, and founder of Crews Mobile Home Park. He was a former member of Forestdale Chamber of Commerce and a faithful and loyal member of Good Hope Baptist Church for 56 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at New Horizon Memorial chapel. Revs. Truman Davis and Teddy Johnson will officiate. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home is directing.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 23, 2003, at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Crews was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond W. and Lillie Hobson Crews; son, Kenneth R. Crews; brother, Preston Crews Sr.; and two sisters, Anna Mae Watts and Bernice Phillips.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dixie Elam Crews; two sons, Carlton Crews and his wife, Susan, and Phillip Crews and his wife, Kay, all of Bagley; five grandchildren, Hillard Crews, Henry Crews and Kevin Crews, all of Birmingham, and Amanda Crews Creel and her husband, Todd, and Nathaniel Crews, all of Bagley.

Pallbearers will be Todd Creek, David Crews, Randall Phillips, David Reaid, Doug Wilson and Mike Wilson. Vocalists will be Jeff Brasher and Jackie Flo York.

John Courtney Dozier

John Courtney Dozier, 26, of Carbon Hill died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in an automobile accident in Walker County.

The funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 21, 2003, at Eldridge Church of Christ with Burial in Old Pisgah Cemetery. Mike King will officiate. Kilgore-Green Funeral Home is directing.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the church.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mable Ritter.

He is survived by his mother, Gwendolyn Markham and her husband, Greg, of Brilliant; father, John Wayne Dozier of Carbon Hill; son, Drew Dozier of Carbon Hill; grandparents, Carroll and Hazel Markham of Brilliant and Lucille Dozier of Haleyville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeffrey L. Taylor

Jeffrey L. Taylor, 37, of Jasper died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in an automobile accident in Walker County.

The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Kilgore-Green chapel with Burial at Williams Chapel Cemetery. Bennie Abbott will officiate. Kilgore-Green Funeral Home is directing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Lynn Taylor; grandfather, Marlin Moon; grandparents, James and Ethel Brown; great-grandparents, Benny and Audrey Short.

Mark Jonathan Mace, 43, of Kansas died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 21, 2003, at Miles Funeral Home chapel with Burial in Tidwell Chapel Cemetery. Miles Funeral Home of Winfield is directing.

He was preceded in death by his step-son, William Jackson "BJ" Kelley III; and his step-father, Charles Samuels.

He is survived by his wife, Tena Mace of Kansas; father, Donald Mace of Kansas City, Mo.; mother, Jean Samuels of Carbon Hill; brother, Donald Anthony Mace, Carbon Hill; sisters, Patricia Cagle of Brilliant, Lori Gunter of Nauvoo, Donna Mace of Kansas City, Mo., Jeanette Tucker, Lisa German and Wendy Samuels, all of Carbon Hill; step-son, Adam Kelley of Carbon Hill; step-daughter, Misty Harrison and her husband, Steve of Carbon Hill; grandson, Dylan Mark Kelley; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Lee Sproul; two sisters, Ora Lee Allison Copeland and Francis Marinakis; brother, Charles Couch; father, Charlie E. Couch; mother, Minnie Davis Couch; and a son-in-law, Bobby Clemons.

She is survived by two daughters, Laura Clemons and Rosa Naramore, both of Jasper; son, Lee Sproul of Jasper; six grandchildren, Sherry Norris of Knoxville, Tenn., Bobbie Lively and Sheila McCaleb, both of Nauvoo, Matthew Sproul, Logan Sproul and Krystal Naramore, all of Jasper; six great-grandchildren, Valine Trotter, Tamara Braden, Bradley Braden, Dalton Braden, Ashlynn McCaleb and Kaitlynn McCaleb; and one great-great-grandchild, Rylee Trotter.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna Boshell and her husband, Jeff, and Marlene Lay and her husband, Randy, all of Jasper, and Christine Vintson of Parrish; sister, Eva Glaze, of Parrish; three brothers, Noah Dunn, Jay Dunn and John Dunn, all of Parrish; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey Boshell and his wife, Heather, Michael Lay and his wife, Tonya, Joshua Boshell, Jacob Boshell, Michelle Lay, Eddie Brown Jr., Paul Brown and his wife, Wanda, Chris Brown and his wife, Lisa, Don Brown, David Vintson and Crystal Vintson; five great-grandchildren, Dylan, Brandon, Daniel, William and Austin; and a host of nieces and newphews.
