MR. GARRETT
LaFAYETTE -- Mr. Joe Garrett Sr., 74, of LaFayette died Sunday, April 4, 2004 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala.
Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, April 6 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of LaFayette with the Revs. Bill Hand and Paul Howard officiating. Burial followed at the LaFayette City Cemetery.
Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife, Juanita Garrett of LaFayette; three daughters, Angela (Jeff) Jenkins of Lanett, Barbara (Donnie) Teel of LaFayette and Michelle (Dennis) Pugh of Dadeville; a son, Joe (Elizabeth) Garrett Jr. of Tyrone, Ga.; a brother, Bill (Elaine) Garrett of Chattanooga, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Born May 12, 1929 in Chambers County, Mr. Garrett was an Army veteran of the
Korean War. He was a graduate of Auburn University in agriculture and was a retired farmer. He was employed as lake manager at the Chambers County Lake.
Visitation was held at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette on Monday evening.

VALLEY -- Mrs. Jenelle C. Henderson, 72, of Valley died Sunday, April 4, 2004 at her residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Claud E. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett.
Mrs. Henderson is survived by her husband, Jim Frank Henderson; three daughters, Geraldine (Jerry) Hiett of Anniston, Ala., Linda (Larry) Duncan of West Point and Brenda (Skeeter) Anderson of Lanett; a son, Jonathan "Bo" (Cynthia) Johnson of Lakeland, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Lisa (Tim) Wyatt of Munsford, Ga.; two sisters, Laura Sims of Lanett and Darlis Ann Peace of Trion, Ga.; and two brothers, Colen Carroll of Lanett and Noah C. Carroll Jr. of Valley.
Born May 14, 1931 in Fyffe, Ala., Mrs. Henderson was a member of Evangel Temple. She was a former employee of the Ampex Corporation in Opelika. She was the daughter of the late Pearlie Norris Carroll and Noah J. Carroll.

MRS. WHALEY
VALLEY -- Mrs. Barbara S. Whaley, 68, of Valley died Sunday, April 4, 2004 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.
Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 7 at 4 p.m. in Langdale Cemetery in Valley with the Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating.
Mrs. Whaley is survived by her son, John Whaley of Valley; two grandsons, Jason (Donna) Whaley and Jamie Whaley, both of Valley; a great-grandson, Core Whaley of Valley; and three sisters, Sara Evans and Betty Spraggins, both of Valley, and Vera Garse of West Point.
Born in West Point on Oct. 4, 1935, Mrs. Whaley was a member of West End Baptist Church in Valley. She enjoyed fishing, going to ball games and putting puzzles together. She was the daughter of the late Nellie Jane Hart Spraggins and T.J. Spraggins.

OPELIKA -- Mr. Calvin B. Yarbrough, 94, of Opelika died Sunday, April 4, 2004 at Lanier Memorial Nursing Home in Valley.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 7 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. David Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.
Mr. Yarbrough is survived by his two sons, Terry (Anne) Yarbrough of Opelika and Tony Yarbrough of LaGrange: his daughter, Eva May of Illinois; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Born Aug. 19, 1909 in Alabama, Mr. Yarbrough was a member of Osanippa Baptist Church. He loved his family and enjoyed working in his garden and fishing. He was the son of the late Celia Ann Williams Yarbrough and Silas Yarbrough.

DR. DANION
AUBURN -- Dr. James Richard Danion, 77, of Auburn died at his residence Friday, April 2, 2004 under the compassionate care of Hospice of East Alabama Medical Center.
Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 6 at 2 p.m. at Auburn Memorial Park with the Rev. Nick Holler officiating.
Dr. Danion is survived by his daughter, Debra (Phillip) Danion-Burke of Valley; his son, James R. "Dan" Danion III of Auburn and Atlanta; his granddaughter, Jennifer Allen Greene of Eglin AFB, Fla; his grandson, Vernon Huckelba of Auburn; and three great-grandsons.
Born Aug. 24, 1926 to the late James V. and Louise Danion, Dr. Danion served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Danion received both his bachelor of arts and master's degrees from the University of Georgia and his doctorate from Auburn University. In 1960, he went to work as a livestock specialist for Auburn University, retiring as professor emeritus in 1988. Following his retirement, he started his second career at Auburn as director of the motor pool for the Auburn University Athletic Department, a job he held until his death. Dr. Danion was an active member of the War Eagle Lions Club and the Joel McDavid Sunday School Class of Auburn United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Osborn is survived by her husband, Johnny Osborn of Cartersville; three daughters, Stephanie (Alejandro) Salas of Roanoke, Rhonda (Stacy) Corley of Carrollton and Tira (Sheldon) Freeman of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, Chip (Jean) Osborn of Dallas, Ga.; a brother, the Rev. Milford (Glenda) McClain of Lanett; two sisters, Kathy (Calvin) McClellan of Valley and Shelia Harris of New Orleans; eight granchildren, Caleb Wilson, Alexandria Salas, Karley Salas, Katelyn Osborn, Sara Beth Bryant, Jacob Bryant, Abbey Corley and Amy Freeman; and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Langdale June 29, 1954, Mrs. Osborn was the daughter of the late Willard Milford McClain and the late Pearl Jane Lucille Patterson. She attended Valley High School and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Osborn was a member of the American Legion and Carl Boyd Post 42 Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by two children, Pamela Joan Hawkins and Amy Lynn Hawkins.

LANETT -- Ms. Olivia B. Jarrett, 77, of Lanett died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at her residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 5 at 2 p.m. at M.W. Lee Mortuary's Chapel with the Revs. O.C. Stiggers and J.D. Darden officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Fredonia, Ala.
Ms. Jarrett is survived by two sisters, Christine Mackey of West Point and Jessie Ruth Perry of Corydon, Ind.; one brother, Rufus Bonner of Detroit, Mich.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Born May 4, 1926 in Chambers County, Ms. Jarrett joined Love Union Baptist Church at an early age and later united with New Hope Baptist Church in Fredonia where she worked with the junior choir. She graduated from West Georgia Tech in LaGrange as an LPN. She worked as a private duty nurse for many years. Ms. Jarrett was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Jarrett. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Gene and Mrs. Pearlie Lee Stiggers Bonner.

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Mrs. Jerry Tolbert Tye of Atlanta, formerly of LaFayette, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at her residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 5 at 1 p.m. at New Fellowship Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Callaway officiating. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Biblical Gardens, 1361 Hollywood Road N.W. in Atlanta.
Mrs. Tye is survived by four sons, Frank (Dorothy) Tolbert of Auburn, Ala., Royce (Brenda) Tolbert of Atlanta, and Yancey and Billy Tolbert, both of Atlanta; three daughters, Mary (Curtis) Carter of Valley, Anna Tolbert of Atlanta and Lillie (Robert) Blythe of Battle Creek, Mich.; three brothers, Walter Jay Tolbert, Johnny (Loretta) Tolbert and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Lee Tolbert, all of LaFayette; two sisters, Ethel M. Williams of LaFayette and Jeanette Avery of Lanett; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Born Sept. 6, 1930 in LaFayette, Mrs. Tye was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of New Fellowship Community Baptist Church where she served for several faithful years. Mrs. Tye retired from Georgia State University as a dietitian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Russell Tye.

LANETT -- Mr. Thomas L. Fields Sr., 91, of Lanett died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Beverly Health Care in Lanett.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 31 at 11 a.m. at Lanett First Christian Church with the Revs. Howard Merchant and Donnie Erwin-Brown officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven Cemetery.
Mr. Fields is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Carlos) Adams of Lanett, Billie Jo (James) Edge of Jonesboro, Ga., and Brenda (Eugene) Maddux of Kingsport, Tenn.; one son, Tommy (Janice) Fields Jr. of Valley; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Born July 30, 1912 in Wedowee, Ala., Mr. Fields was a retired employee of WestPoint Stevens Lanett Mill. He was a member of Lanett First Christian Church and a former member of Lanett Masonic Lodge No. 656 F&M. He was the son of the late Rena Payne Fields and Billy Fields.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Lanett First Christian Church or to the Alzheimers Association in his memory.
