LaFAYETTE -- Mrs. Gail Brooks, 43, of Camp Hill died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

MRS. GUNN

LANETT -- Mrs. Ruth Grady Gunn, 82, of Lanett died Monday, July 26, 2004 at Hospice LaGrange.

Born on Oct. 5, 1921, Mrs. Gunn was the daughter of the late Morgan and Anne Matthews Grady. She was born in Five Points but lived in Lanett most of her life. During the past 15 months, she was a resident of Florence Hand Home in LaGrange.

A member of First United Methodist Church in Lanett, she was a choir member and soloist for 60 years. For 10 years prior to moving to Florence Hand, she served as program chairperson for the "Young At Heart" senior adult luncheons at her church. While at Florence Hand, she played the piano for the residents there.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Colonel John W. Grady of Auburn; a sister, Margaret Grady Smith of West Point; and her former husband, James H. Gunn of Lanett. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Rick Shaver of Kingsport, Tenn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Donna Gunn of Old Hickory, Tenn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Julie Gunn of Greenville, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Jean) Grady of LaGrange; a sister, Anne (Edwin) Miller of Ann Arbor, Mich; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lester and Elaine McCullough; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Lanett Saturday, Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joyce Akridge and the Rev. Danny Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service. The family respectfully declines the honor of flowers and asks that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Lanett or to one's favorite charity in memory of Mrs. Gunn.

LANETT -- Funeral services are pending for Mrs. Evelyn Hornsby, 80, of Lanett, who died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.

MRS. HUGULEY

WEST POINT -- Mrs. Josie L. Huguley, 67, of West Point died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004 at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled Saturday, Aug. 7 at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Lanett with the Revs. Billy Drakes, Frank Kennedy Jr. and Ronnie Melton officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Crest Cemetery in Lanett in the West Shawmut community.

Mrs. Huguley is survived by three daughters, Joyce Felton and Latrease Huguley, both of Lanett, and Valeria Huguley of West Point; one son, Clyde (Jackie) Huguley of Lanett; two sisters, Gladys (John) Bradshaw and Ida Turner; one brother, John Ruben Appleby, all of Atlanta; one aunt, Cora Oliver of Welch, Ala.; eight grandchildren; a devoted stepdaughter, nephew and friends, Maria (Charles) Davis, Alexander Paige, Walter Lee Bonner and Sara Mae Bailey.

Born Jan. 10, 1937, Mrs. Huguley was a native of Chambers County. She was preceded in death by Horace Lovelace; her sister, Annie Ruth Paige; her brother, Josephus Appleby, her huband, Forrest Huguley; and her parents, Rufus and Inez Appleby.

The body will lie in state at the church from noon until the funeral hour.

BEULAH -- Funeral services are pending for Mr. Forrest "Bud" Barrington, 88, of Beulah, who died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Tuskegee.

MRS. CRUTCHFIELD

VALLEY -- Mrs. Edith Posey Crutchfield, 85, of Valley died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 5 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Mike Newman officiating. Burial will follow at Langdale Cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Bobby (Carolyn) Crutchfield of Valley and Larry (Candy) Crutchfield of West Point; three grandchildren, Robbye (Galen) Smith of Valley, Chad (Michelle) Crutchfield of Valley and Ryan Crutchfield of Columbus, Ga.; six great-grandchildren, Madyson Crutchfield, C.J. Crutchfield, Jacob Crutchfield, Elizabeth Crutchfield, Carson Smith and Mitchum Smith; two sisters, Evelyn Matthews of Florence, Ala., and Helen (Carroll) Hill of Moulton, Ala.; and one brother, Carl (Evelyn) Posey of Decatur, Ala.

Mrs. Crutchfield was born Jan. 4, 1919 in Lawrence County, Ala., the daughter of the late Lillian Ray Posey and Elmer Posey. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Crutchfield; her sister, Edna Crutchfield; and her brothers, Clyde and Leon Posey;

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

LaFAYETTE -- Mr. Leonard "Len" Andrews, 72, of LaFayette died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004 at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled Thursday, Aug. 5 at Antioch Baptist Church at 1 p.m. CDT with the Revs. Wayne Barrett and Jimmy Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Andrews is survived by his wife, Ethel Andrews of LaFayette; one daughter, Donna Andrews of Opelika; one son, James Andrews of Lanett; four sisters, Helen Sheppard of Lanett, Mary Jim Farrington of LaFayette, Jean Owen of Phenix City and Dot Allen of Ridge Grove; and six grandchildren, Brandi Andrews, Matt Thomas, Jamie Andrews, Gregory King, Shelby King and Zachary Andrews.

Born in Chambers County Jan. 24, 1932, Mr. Andrews was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He retired from Langley Motor Co. in Lanett as service manager after 15 years of service and later retired from the Chambers County Landfill.

The family will receive friends at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette Wednesday, Aug. 4 from 6 until 8 p.m. CDT.

MRS. CRUTCHFIELD

MR. FERRELL

VALLEY -- Mr. Terrell Lamar Ferrell, 33, of Valley died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.

Funeral services are scheduled Thursday, Aug. 5 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church of Lanett with the Revs. Louis Upshaw, Tony Avery, Louis Williams and Billy Avery officiating. Burial will follow in Pinehill Cemetery.

Mr. Ferrell is survived by one daughter, Bailey Seymone Ferrell of Perry, Ga.; his parents, Ms. Margie Ferrell, Mr. Clarence Ferrell and Mattie Monagan Ferrell of West Point; one brother, Clarence Ferrell Jr. of Valley; one sister, Veronica Michelle Ferrell of Atlanta; one step-brother, Carl Monagan of West Point; his paternal grandfather, Sylvester Sherman of Lanett; his maternal grandmother, Addie Mae Davis of Lanett; seven aunts, Henrietta Huff, Annie Crawford and Barbara Hurston, all of Atlanta, Diana Wood of Birmingham, Ala., Mary Frances (Henry) Thomas and Mary Ridgeway, both of Lanett, and Janette (Jimmy) Vaughn of Woodland, N.C.; five uncles, Marvin Dewey of Opelika, Tommy Lee Ferrell of Atlanta; Joe (Linda) Ferrell of St. Petersburg, Fla., Kenny Ferrell and Jerry Ferrell, both of Lanett; a special companion, Meioshekai U. Leverette of Lanett; two nieces, two nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends.

Born Sept. 1, 1970, Mr. Ferrell was a member of the Valley High School Class of 1989. He was employed with West Point Steven's Fairview Plant with more than 17 years of service and with Wal-Mart Super Center with more than five years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 4 at M.W. Lee Mortuary from 6 until 8 p.m.

The remains will lie in state at the church Thursday, Aug. 5 from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.

The family may be contacted at the residence of Mr. Clarence Ferrell and Mrs. Mattie Monagan Ferrell, 1210 Eastwood Lane in West Point, or at the home of Ms. Margie Ferrell, 1626 30th street S.W. Lanett.

MRS. HENRY

SMRYNA, Ga. -- Mrs. Agnes S. Henry, beloved wife, mother and grandmother of Smyrna died at the age of 73 on Monday, Aug. 2, 2004.

Funeral services are scheduled Friday, Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. at St. Jude's Episcopal Church of Marietta, Ga.

Mrs. Henry is survived by her husband of 51 years, Roger M. Henry; one daughter, Florence Henry and husband Field Coxe of Avondale Estates, Ga.; two sons, Joel Henry and wife Lisa of Tiger, Ga. and Roger Henry Jr. and wife Kate of Asheville, N.C.; and six grandchildren, Joel Henry Jr., Elizabeth Henry, Leah Henry, Riley Henry, Lucy Coxe and Landon Henry.

Born Sept. 28, 1930 in Chambers County, Mrs. Henry was the daughter of the late William Jasper Smith and Annie Florence Wilson. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Willie Rozelle Reynolds and Bennie Sue Dabbs.

She graduated from Crawford Long Nursing School in Atlanta, and she helped found St. Jude's Episcopal Church in Marietta.

Mrs. Henry was devoted to helping those less fortunate, volunteering at St. Jude's Thrift Shop for more than 40 years, which funded the 150th Habitat for Humanity House in Cobb County.

She was known for her straight-forward manner, quick wit and love of family. She will be missed by all.

The family will receive guests at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna Thursday, Aug. 5 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's Episcopal Church, 220 Windy Hill Road S.W., Marietta, Ga. 30060.

MR. McWHORTER

WEST POINT -- Mr. James "David" McWhorter, 35, of West Point died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Newnan West Hospital.

A memorial service is scheduled Thursday, Aug. 5 at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel in LaGrange with the Rev. Gary Kirkendall officiating.

Mr. McWhorter is survived by his wife, Karen Schmitte McWhorter of West Point; one son, James David "Jamie" McWhorter Jr. of West Point; his mother, Polly Brooks McWhorter of LaGrange; one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Matthew "Matt" and Heather McWhorter of Valley; two sisters, Dianne Lynn McWhorter of LaGrange and Dana (Gary) Noon of Williamson, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Born March 24, 1969 in Chambers County, Mr. McWhorter was a millwright with Ava Industrial Contractors. He had lived in West Point for the past 13 years.

The family will be at the home of his mother, Polly McWhorter, at 211 Cumberland Drive in LaGrange.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 4 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made at the funeral home in honor of Mr. McWhorter.
