HUEYTOWN
Services for Vinnie Orr Campbell, 92, of Hueytown will be today at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Cliff Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Campbell died Wednesday at Self Nursing Home in Hueytown.
Survivors include a daughter and son-law, Charlotte and Bob Smitherman of Hueytown; two grandchildren and their wives, Scott and Michelle Smitherman and Steve and Shelly Smitherman; and a great-grandchild, Zachary Smitherman.
Pallbearers will be Scott Smitherman, Steve Smitherman, Bobby Smitherman, James Lashley, Hubert Gallahair and Bobby Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be retirees of Palm Beach Company and members of Lineville High School Class of 1929.
Mrs. Campbell was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. She was a member of New Harmony Christian Church in Lineville and retired from Palm Beach Company in 1974. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virgie Clark.

Services for Ralph O. Collins, 68, of Ohatchee will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Ohatchee with Rev. Howard Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Anniston Funeral Service in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.
Mr. Collins died Monday at Colonial Pines Nursing Home.
Survivors include three daughters, Doris Robinson of Gadsden, Gloria Foster of Ohatchee and Jackeline Collins of Atlanta; three sons, Isiah Collins of Ohatchee, Earnest Collins of Gadsden and Lauronzo Collins of Birmingham; his mother, Ethel W. Collins of Ohatchee; two sisters, Angeline Parker of Ohatchee and Eva Traynham of Jamaica, N.Y.; a brother, David Collins of Gadsden; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services for Mary Frances Embry, 92, of Pell City will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rocky Zion Baptist Church with Rev. John Herd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Sims Funeral Service in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.
Ms. Embry died Sunday at Ingram Manor Nursing Facility.
Survivors include a brother, Mitchell Hubbard of Talladega; two stepdaughters, Kate Chatman of Talladega and Bettye Lou McCain of Pell City; a stepson, Bennie Carl Embry of Talladega; and a host of relatives and friends.

Services for Bessie Lois Pointer Garrett, 70, of Alpine will be Saturday at noon at St. Campbell Baptist Church with Revs. Richard Fair and Raymond Garrett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.
Mrs. Garrett died Wednesday at her home.
Survivors include her husband, James R. Garrett of Alpine; five daughters, Shirley Page of Stone Mountain, Ga., Linda Parker of Fairfield, Maxine Palmer of Cleveland, Kathy Ferebee of St. Mary’s, Ga., and Bridgette Garrett of Chamblee, Ga.; three sons, George Garrett and Rorry Garrett, both of Cleveland and Basil Garrett of Talladega; four sisters, Betty Jo Lee of Alpine and Geraldine Bennett, Alberta Williams and Dolly Williams, all of Cleveland; four brothers, Willie Ball of Alpine, Jake Allen of Enterprise and Aaron Williams and Harry Williams, both of Cleveland; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Mrs. Garrett had attended Talladega County Training School and was a member of St. Campbell Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a missionary, matron and deaconess. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Ball, Luressa Pointer Williams, Mary Jane Pointer and Register Pointer.

Ms. Jones died Friday at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlene Woolf and Felicia Parker, both of Anniston; three sons, James Jones, Anandis Woolf and Desmond Woolf, all of Anniston; a brother, Melvin Jackson Jr. of New York; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Ms. Jones was a member of New Emmanuel Baptist Church and had been a volunteer for Constantine Elementary School.

Services for Joe “J.W.” Lea, 70, of Cedar Bluff will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home in Centre with Rev. Herbert Reid officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Lea died Thursday at Cherokee County Nursing Home.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Sanford Lea of Cedar Bluff; two sons and their wives, Billy J. and Margie Lea and Christopher J. and Angie Lea, all of Cedar Bluff; two daughters and their husbands, Myrtle Marie and Larry Richardson and Joyce Lea Harrell and Rickey Harrell, all of Centre; three brothers, Garthel Lea of Columbia, S.C., Troy Lea of Anniston and Roy Lea of Flat Rock; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lea was a native of Henegar and was the son of late Edker and Vera Lawman Lea. He was a retired plumber and a member of the Holiness Church.

Services for Leonard Spurgeon Mayfield Jr., 83, of Lincoln will be today at 2 p.m. at Refuge Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Hall’s Cemetery with Usrey Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Mayfield died Wednesday at Citizens Baptist Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Orlis D. Mayfield of Lincoln; a son and his wife, Leonard and Barbara Mayfield III of Lincoln; a sister and her husband, Elizabeth and Bob Findley of Trussville; and a grandchild, Belinda Mayfield.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Durham, James Marlow, Bob Phillips, Larry Phillips, Jimmy Mitchell and Steve Mayfield.
Mr. Mayfield was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County. He was a member of Refuge Baptist Church. He was retired from Fort McClellan and had been a farmer most of his life.

Graveside services for Quill Buddy Sheppard, 60, of Grand Bay will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Valley Grove Cemetery with Rev. David Reaves officiating and Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight and until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Sheppard died Wednesday at Knowllwood Hospital in Mobile.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Ann Bosarge of Grand Bay; a son, Lee Sheppard of Mobile; a stepdaughter, Peggy Rylu of Theodore; two stepsons, Charlie Whitney and William Whitney, both of Theodore; two grandchildren, Caitlyn and Alyssa Bosarge; 11 stepgrandchildren, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Clara and David Rush of Cragford and Letha Mae Sheppard; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Virginia Sheppard of Opelika, Andy and Belvin Sheppard of Anniston and James and Dedra Sheppard and Amos Sheppard, all of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Mr. Sheppard was a native of Randolph County and the son of Clifford William Sheppard and Grace Letha Mulkey Sheppard. He had worked in the metal and salvage yard industries.
