Services for Bessie Reidinger Dill, 100, of Anniston will be announced by Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory.

Mrs. Dill died Wednesday at Regional Medical Center.

Doyal

PIEDMONT

Services for Elsie C. Doyal, 84, of Piedmont will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Doyal died Tuesday at Jacksonville Hospital.

Survivors include a daughter, Doris Loyd of Piedmont; a son and his wife, Dennis and Dovie Doyal of Centre; a brother, Rush Gipson of Lithia Springs, Ga.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Randall Hunter, Mike Stewart, Randy Rankin, Jason Freeman, Tony Parker, Travis Higgins and Jason Loyd.

Mrs. Doyal was a native and lifelong resident of Piedmont. She was a former employee of Big G Dry Cleaners. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Doyal; a daughter, Brenda McElwee; and three sisters and a brother.

Grogan

PIEDMONT

Services for Agnes L. Grogan, 85, of Piedmont will be today at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Piedmont with Revs. Chuck Canterbury and Ed Coogler officiating. Burial will be in Piedmont Memory Gardens with Thompson Funeral Home in charge. The body will be at the church at hour prior to services.

Mrs. Grogan died Tuesday at Jacksonville Hospital.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Fayrene Mobley, Judy Arnett and Betty and Tony Lusk, all of Piedmont; a son and his wife, Teddy R. Grogan Jr. and Lynn Grogan of Piedmont; a sister, Ruth C. Kirk of Piedmont; nine grandchildren, Jesse Mobley, Scottie Mobley, Scarlett Young, Dr. Tim Lusk, Lisa Hayes, Pam Coogler, Kristi Lambert, Melanie Grogan and Todd Grogan; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Mobley, Scottie Mobley, Dr. Tim Lusk, Todd Grogan, Gary Lambert, Vernon Young, Mike Hayes and Frankie Coogler.

Mrs. Grogan was a native and lifelong resident of Piedmont. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted R. Grogan Sr.; a son, Tom Grogan; and two sons-in-law, Willard Mobley and Robert Arnett.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Piedmont.

Hanners

LINEVILLE

Services for Nina K. Hanners, 50, of Lineville will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Center West Baptist Church with Revs. Mark Williams, Wayne Adams and L.C. Harris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville in charge. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight and until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hanners died Wednesday at Clay County Hospital in Ashland.

Survivors include her mother, Addie J. Woods of Lineville; a son, Lance Delmer Hanners of Ashland; two sisters, Martha Thompson of Marietta, Ga. and Donna J. Frye of Lineville; and a brother, Wayne Johnson of Ashland.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Crenshaw, Andy Graben, Randy Hanners, Duane Nappier, Ronnie Suddeth and Ricky Suddeth.

Mrs. Hanners was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. She was the owner and operator of Kate’s Cafe in Ashland, was manager of Bobkat Express for more than three years and manager of Williamson Oil Co. for more than eight years. She was a member of Center West Baptist Church, where she was the organist and choir secretary.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Center West Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.

Marable

OXFORD

Services for Robert Lee Marable Sr., 64, of Oxford will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Trails Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Marable died Wednesday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Marable; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bobby and Donna Marable of North Carolina, Mark and Tracy Marable of Oxford and John Raymond Marable of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Cecil K. Marable Jr. and Tommy A. Marable, both of Memphis; and three grandchildren, Tony Marable, John Marable and Rhannion Marable.

Pallbearers will be John Raymond Marable, C.K. Marable, David Marable, Chris Marable, Coach Tim Britt, Coach Robert Herring, Bruce Lang, David Shockley, Little Tom Marable and Bruce Barnes.

Mr. Marable was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and had worked for more than 20 years at Super Value.

Graveside services for Ethel Bowen Martin, 93, of Ashland will be today at 10 a.m. at Ashland City Cemetery with Rev. John Harold Denney officiating and Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland in charge. The family will receive friends until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Martin died Monday at Clay County Hospital.

Survivors include a caregiver, Charles Story of Montgomery; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Martin was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Eastern Star. She also was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Phillips

WEDOWEE

Services for Otis Phillips, 69, of Wedowee will be today at 2 p.m. at Pine Flat Primitive Baptist Church in Wedowee with Thomas Knight officiating. Burial will be in Pine Flat Cemetery with Silmon and Son Funeral Services in charge. The family will receive friends three hours prior to services at the church.

Mr. Phillips died Saturday at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jo Moss of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren, Latoya Moss and Tracy Phillips; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Stringfellow

JACKSONVILLE

Services for Ralph Augusta Stringfellow, 77, of Jacksonville will be Friday at 2 p.m. at K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Kenneth Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Stringfellow died Tuesday at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Stringfellow of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter and her husband, Patricia M. and Michael Sullivan of Knoxville, Tenn.; a son and his wife, Michael B. and Tamika Stringfellow of Madison; a stepson and his wife, Wayne Rickey and Glenda Martin of Anniston; a sister, Peggy Paul of Jacksonville; two brothers, Earl Stringfellow of Weaver and Curtis Stringfellow of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Mikey Stringfellow and Micole Stringfellow; two stepgrandchildren, Leslie Martin and Tonya Martin; six nieces and 11 nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gill Stringfellow, Jimmy Stringfellow, Kenny Stringfellow, Chris Koury, Lance Koury and Eric Koury. Honorary pallbearers will be men of the Florence Connelly Sunday School Class.

Mr. Stringfellow was a native of Opelika and a resident of Calhoun County. He was a 24-year Army veteran with service in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Duke Baptist Church, Zamora Temple Shrine in Birmingham, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Angel Fire Department Board.

PELHAM

Graveside services for Mary Louise Meharg Walker, 87, of Pelham, formerly of Anniston, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Patton’s Chapel Cemetery in Lincoln with Rev. Ken Parker officiating and Miller Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the graveside.

Mrs. Walker died Wednesday in Pelham.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Sue Sims of Homosassa, Fla.; a son, Kenneth E.” Bubba” Walker Jr. of Pelham; 10 grandchildren, Teresa McCullars, Laura McCullars, Karen Waters, Bryan Walker, Michael Walker, Shannon Walker, Todd Walker, Scott Simpson, Sandy Free and Elliott McMichael; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Walker, Michael Walker, Scott Simpson, Jason McCullars, Josh McCullars, Drew McCullars, Elliott McMichael, Todd Walker and Shannon Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be John Sims, Aaron Michael, Mike McCullars, and Jeff Waters.

Mrs. Walker was a member of the 1933-1934 Anniston High School Ladies Travel Basketball Championship team. She was preceded in death a daughter, Mary Evelyn McMichael; her parents, Luna Mae Lawson and Giles Driver Meharg; a sister, Evelyn Meharg Swearingen; and a brother, Wellborn “Jack” Meharg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of Calhoun or Shelby counties or the Patton’s Chapel Cemetery Fund.

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn.

Memorial services for Thomas “Tommy” Alfred Chastain, 58, of Shelbyville will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hall’s Chapel in Weaver.

Mr. Chastain died June 29 at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.
