LELA BELL ATCHLEY

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Lela Bell Atchley, 79, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Westview Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Baker and the Rev. Freddie Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Atchley died April 2 at Brookwood Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Atchley, and a grandson, Donny Barton. She was a saleslady for Foote Brothers Furniture Company for 30 years. She was a member of Westview Baptist Church for 25 years, where she taught Sunday school for 20 years. She was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to work in the garden and yard and she loved the beach.

She is survived by one son, Donald Collins of Sylacauga; three daughters, Cheryl Meyers of Childersburg, Janet Barton of Sylacauga and Crystal Hayes of Jacksons Gap; two sisters, Clara Mae Lewis and Flora Dean Smitherman of Jemison; five grandchildren, Donna Collins, Richard Peterson, Chandra Emerson, Edward Potts and Angie Jones; and 12 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Potts, Shawn Potts, Mason Potts, Brandy Potts, Eric Ivey, Michael Seritt, Marcus Seritt, Hailey Cluff, Kalan Cluff, Alyssa Peterson, Ross Peterson and Jeffrey Jones.

The body may be viewed at the church Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Lewis, David Foote, Lawrence Mims and Lee Ellison Jr.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Westview Baptist Church General Fund.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

BARBARA JANE BOWYER

VINCENT — Funeral service for Barbara Jane Bowyer, 66, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Nancy Cole officiating. Burial will be in Vincent City Cemetery.

Mrs. Bowyer died April 2. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Anne King. She was an employee of Smith's Associated Grocery for 20 years and was a member of Harpersville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, David Schoen of Augusta, Ga., and Donald Joe Bowyer of Vincent; two daughters, Betty Joette Bowyer of Vincent and Sarah Brickell of Cullman; parents, Loyd and Betty Mehaffey; two brothers, Martin Brasher of Vincent and Loyd W. Mehaffey of Chelsea; three sisters, Jeanette Tucker of Trussville, Jo Anne Copeland of Anniston and Betty Sue Bloom of Vincent; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

FRANK G. CONN

BIRMINGHAM — Funeral service for Frank G. Conn, 90, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home chapel in Columbiana with the Rev. Elvin Liveoak officiating. Burial will be in Pinelawn Gardens.

Mr. Conn died April 2 at his residence. He was born on March 10, 1913, in Talladega County. He was a retired Express Agent for Railway Express Agency.

He is survived by two daughters, June C. (Tom) Scott and Rebecca C. (Terry M.) Eskew; one son, William D. (Tina) Conn; seven grandchildren, Susan Childress, Keith C. Scott, Michael D. Eskew, Janet E. Adwell, Chris C. Rigdon, Jessica C. Dutton and Leigh Conn; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Bolton Brown Service Funeral Home in Columbiana will direct the service.

THOMAS EDMOND EASON

BRANCHVILLE — Funeral service for Thomas Edmond Eason, 81, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. James Blair officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Eason died April 1. He was a retired lieutenant with the U.S. Navy, was a pilot for the Navy for 25 years and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietname War. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and a member of the Masons. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Eason.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Eason; sister, Helen Lucille Thomas of Warsaw, N.C.; four daughters, Jan Kay Ginrite of Virginia Beach, Va., Amber Baltzley of Jacksonville, Fla., Peggy Baxter of Leeds and Kitty Deal of Atlanta, Ga.; three sons, Mickey Bailey of Birmingham, Ricky Bailey of Branchville and Wayne Falkner of Vandiver; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

CALLIE MAE LOVE

BIRMINGHAM — Callie Mae Love, formerly of Coosa County, died April 2 at Cooper Green Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wright's Funeral Home.

SYLACAUGA — Daniel Lyons, 70, died April 3 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga.

GARY WAYNE MATHEWS

ASHVILLE — Funeral service for Gary Wayne Mathews, 53, was Sunday, March 30, at Usrey-Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Pell City with the Rev. Richard Ashley officiating. Burial was in Ashville Cemetery.

Mr. Mathews died March 27 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Ashville and was retired from Southern Precision. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was preceded in death by his father, James L. Mathews, and a nephew, Chris Mathews.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Mathews of Ashville; one daughter, Carrie Lynn Mathews of Ashville; one son, James M. Mathews and wife Kim of Arley; his mother, Margaret Christine Mathews of Ashville; two brothers, James E. Mathews and wife Susan of Montgomery and Charles L. Mathews and wife Patty of Pell City; and three grandchildren, Mark Mathews of Oneonta and Javan and Noal Mathews of Arley.

Pallbearers were Steven Mathews, Brian Mathews, Kelvin Bowlin, Warren Bowlin, Joe Smith and Roger White.

Usrey-Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Pell City directed the service.

HENRY J. McLAUGHLIN SR.

VANDIVER — Funeral service for Henry J. McLaughlin Sr., 72, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Church in Vandiver. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Mr. McLaughlin died April 2. He was preceded in death by a son, Henry McLaughlin Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia McLaughlin; daughter, Wendy Smith; sons, Dale and Derrick McLaughlin; sister, Ruth McLaughlin; brother, John McLaughlin; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Friday at 4 p.m. at the church.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds will direct the service.

JENNIE McKINNEY

HARPERSVILLE — Funeral service for Jennie McKinney, 104, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Harpersville with the Rev. Clarence Carter officiating. Burial will be in Harpersville Cemetery.

Mrs. McKinney died March 30 at Coosa Valley BMC.

She is survived by four daughters, Corene Martin and Bernice McKenzie of Childersburg and Louise Harvey and Bonnie Threatt of Harpersville; one son, Aldrich McKinney of Anniston; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and great-great-great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Madden's Funeral Home will direct the service.

GILDA RICKLES

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — Funeral service for Gilda Rickles, 56, will be Monday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at Church On The Move in Roseville, Calif., with the Rev. Russell McCollough and the Rev. Bruce Stone officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary in Fair Oaks, Calif.

Mrs. Rickles died March 31 at her residence in Citrus Heights, Calif., with family and friends by her side. She was married for 38 years and enjoyed her career and ministry as a homemaker to her family. She radiated with love and compassion for all people; however, her greatest joy was teaching children about the loving kindness of her Heavenly Father expressed through her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She served as Childrens Church Teacher in various churches in Alabama and California over a span of 32 years. Her numerous writings through cards and letters have brought words of encouragement with joy and laughter to the hurting, sick, disabled, and countless others from all walks of life.

Mrs. Rickles graduated from Pell City High School in 1964 and before moving from Alabama to California in 1981, last resided in Jefferson County. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Rachel Wadsworth Ingram; grandmother, Emma Alice Spradley Wadsworth; and brother, Lanice Ingram.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Rickles of Citrus Heights, Calif.; four sons, Erik (Mary) Rickles of Citrus Heights, Calif., Gary (Christine) Rickles of Ceres, Calif., Paul Rickles of Rocklin, Calif., and Jeremy Rickles of Paradise, Calif.; five grandchildren, Kristen, Heather, Brittney, A.J. and McKenna; three sisters, Gayle (Ken) Rickles of Alexander City, Kaye (Robert) Harrison of Alpine and Gloria (Ron) Day of Danville; two brothers, Wayne (Jane) Ingram of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Lynn (Angel) Ingram of Citrus Heights, Calif.; aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 8 p.m. at Church On The Move at 8330 Brady Lane in Roseville, Calif.

Elk Grove Funeral Chapel in Elk Grove, Calif., will direct the service.

MARY ANN ZACHERY

MAYWOOD, Ill. — Funeral service for Mary Ann Zachery, 62, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. James Carlisle officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Zachery died March 30 at Westlake Community Hospital.

She is survived by one son, Allen Zachery of Maywood, Ill.; one daughter, Sherry Zachery of Maywood, Ill.; two brothers, the Rev. James Carlisle of Alexander City and Jim Henry Carlisle of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Wright's Funeral Home will direct the service.

RACHEL L. ZELTMAN

PELL CITY — Memorial service for Rachel L. Zeltman, 77, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Pell City with the Rev. Sherry Reynolds officiating.

Mrs. Zeltman died April 2. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pell City and was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Zeltman, and a daughter, Candace Lee Dailey.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Laura Price of Oneonta, Kathy Ford of Pell City, Meta Franzenburg of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and James Dailey of Oneonta; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline Creitz of Pennsylvania and Theresa Deyo of Wildwood, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Clair Regional Hospital in memory of Rachel L. Zeltman.

Roebuck Chapel will direct the service.
