Ruffa

WEAVER

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Verna Ruffa of Weaver died Wednesday at National Health Care. Burial will be in Fort Mitchell military Cemetery with Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory in charge.

Survivors include a close friend and caregiver, Bernice Goldstein of Weaver; two brothers and their wives, Howard and Tina Skinner and Robert and Pat Skinner, all of Texas; a sister-in-law, Lois Skinner of Texas, and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Ruffa was a native of Mississippi and had lived in Weaver 37 years. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama. She served during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Skinner.

Services for Mary P. Stallings, 63, of Anniston will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

Mrs. Stallings died at Regional Medical Center.

Whatley

Services for Doris I. Whatley of Anniston will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

Mrs. Whatley died Tuesday at Regional Medical Center.

Wiles

Services for Harold T. Wiles, 69, of Anniston will be today at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Drs. Charles Owens and Nelson Kuykendall officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Wiles died Tuesday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Doris V. Wiles of Anniston; two daughters, Michele Carroll of Saks and Ronda White of Oxford; and three grandchildren, Candace White, Randy White and Alan Carroll.

Pallbearers will be Joe Hays, Ed Champion, Jack Thomas, John Bonds, Willie Brown, Doug Heathcock and Joe Findley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bible Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Saks.

Mr. Wiles was a native of Charleston, S.C. and had lived in Anniston 49 years. He was retired from Fort McClellan after 42 years of service and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Saks.

Memorial donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Saks Building Fund or a favorite charity.

Wilson

JACKSONVILLE

Services for Pearl C. Wilson, 89, of Jacksonville will be today at 1 p.m. at St. Paul C.M.E. Church with Revs. Willie Clyde Jones and Janice Blackmon officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Ervin Funeral Chapel in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Wilson died Friday at Jacksonville Hospital.

Survivors include three daughters, Nettie Frank Wilson of Jacksonville, Juliaette Summerville of Edgewood, Md. and Cora Dorsey of Columbus, Ga.; a sister, Daisey Stallion Curtis McGhee of Columbus, Ohio, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Cephus Cannon, Russell Harrell, Charlie Harrell and Adolph Anders.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Frank "Jack" Wilson.

Woodard

Services for Dallas W. Woodard, 74, of Anniston will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Donnie Wright officiating. Burial will be in New Braishers Chapel Cemetery in Arab. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Woodard died Wednesday at Jacksonville Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Woodard of Anniston; two sons and their wives, Tony and Carol Woodard of Jacksonville and Joel and Susan Woodard of Bearnardsville, N.J.; and two grandchildren, Andy Woodard and Whitney Woodard.

Pallbearers will be Tony Woodard, Joel Woodard, Andy Woodard, Whitney Woodard and Jerry Pinkston. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Alabama Power Company.

Mr. Woodard was a native of Etowah County and had lived in Calhoun County 50 years. He was retired from Alabama Power Company and was a World War II veteran.

ROANOKE

Services for Ruby Lee Brown, 78, of Roanoke will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Napoleon Church of Christ with Revs. Gary Stewart, Randall Eidson and Elton Overton officiating. Burial will be in Napoleon Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown died Saturday at Randolph Medical Center.

Survivors include three sons, Jackie Brown and his wife, Claris, of Franklin, Ga., Larry Brown and his wife, Angie, of Roopville, Ga., and Sammy Brown of Bowdon, Ga.; five daughters, Mary Brown and her husband, Morgan, of Columbus, Ga., Janice Mitchell and her husband, Terry, of Unionville, Tenn., Collene Molnar and her husband, Larry, of Eufala, and Linda Sprewell and her husband, Harry, of Columbia, Tenn. and Carolyn Hester of Eufala; three sisters, Louise Overton, Sybil Smith and Ethel Yarbrough, all of Roanoke; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brown, a retired tire trimmer with Trintex Corp., was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra Brown, and her parents, Homer and Mary Lou Richardson Smith. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Services for Inez Hanvey Gill, 81, of Heflin will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pinetucky Baptist Church. Visitation will be tonight 6-8 p.m. at Dryden Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gill died Sunday at Clay County Hospital.

Complete arrangements will be announced by the funeral home.

Services for Frances Dawson Jones, 75, of Anniston will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Levernon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Alexandria. The family will receive friends tonight 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones died Saturday in Oxford.

Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Guy of Pell City, Helen Reid of Oxford and Norma Brooks of Anniston; two sons, James C. Jones of Anniston and Frank Lynn Jones of Coldwater; a brother, Joseph Hugh Dawson of Vandiver; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Adrian Dale, Gaither Hallmark, Winfred Jones, Kenneth Gable, Franklin Fox, and Ricky Cofield.

Honorary pallbearers will be former employees of Sky City and Wakefield's warehouse.

A native of Tennessee, Mrs. Jones lived in Coldwater for the past 38 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hernon Jones, a sister, Mary Brasher, and a son, Hugh William "Joe" Jones.

JACKSONVILLE

Services for Phyllis S. West, 56, of Jacksonville will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville with Revs. Jim Robertson and Bob Bone officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. West died Sunday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse K. West of Jacksonville; a daughter, Patricia West of Kennesaw, Ga.; two sons, Kenneth West and his wife, Leslie, of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Rayford West and his fiancée, Jennifer Hartman, of Burtonsville, Md.; her mother, Naomi Sherburne of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Clinton, N.J.; a brother, John Sherburne of St. Petersburg; two grandchildren, Blake West and Madison West; and three nieces and 10 nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Peppers, Rodney Tillison, Paul Brouillette, Allen Gilbert, Mike K. Barnwell and Tom Medley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff, trainers and adult and girl members of the Girl Scouts of Cottaquilla Council.

Mrs. West was the training and camp director of the Girl Scouts of Cottaquilla Council. She was a troop leader and a volunteer for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her father, John H. Sherburne.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Cottaquilla, Girl Scouts of Cottaquilla Council, 1619 Christine Ave., Anniston, AL 36207.

Graveside services for Dorothy C. Williamson, 86, of Oxford will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Oxford City Cemetery with Richard O' Connor officiating. The family will receive friends tonight 6-8:30 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williamson died Saturday at Healthsouth in Birmingham.

Survivors include a son, Bob Williamson and his wife Carolyn, of Birmingham; three grandchildren, Laura Benson, David Williamson and Stephanie Meadows; and three great-grandchildren, Jay Benson, Meredith Benson and Colin Williamson.

Pallbearers will be George Harrell, Sonny Phillips, Tommy Huffaker, Jimmy Starr, Ron Meadows and Mike Benson

A lifelong resident of Calhoun County, Mrs. Williamson was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Recie M. Williamson.

Graveside services for Bernice Pettus Aderhold, 87, of Anniston will be today at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Clyde Pettus officiating and K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in charge.

Mrs. Aderhold died Sunday at National Health Care.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Martha and Don Weiss of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Scott Weiss, Donna Hicks and Debbie Bellin, five great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Aderhold was a native of Clay County and had lived in Calhoun County most of her life. She was a member of Lenlock Jehovah Witnesses. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zack and Ella Jane Pettus; her husband, Vernon Aderhold; a sister, Margaret Spain; and a brother-in-law, C.V. Aderhold.
