Carmello
GARDENDALE
Services for Nicholas James Carmello, 77, of Gardendale will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with Gardendale Chapel in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the church.
Survivors include four daughters, Susan Ceyte and her husband, Jim, Nicki Carmello-Harper and her husband, Wayne, Chris Shows and her husband, Mark, and Toni Watwood and her husband, Rex; a sister, Betty Steger of Oelwein, Iowa; four grandchildren, Christopher Carmello, Joel Chambers, Celeste Watwood and Amanda Shows; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron Carmello and Emma Katherine Carmello.
Mr. Carmello was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and held various offices in the organization. He was a former member of the Holy Name Society, and was employed with Rack Room Shoes and the Birmingham-Jefferson County Civic Center, as well as the Famous Shoe Bar. He was a World War II Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Carmello; a grandchild, Adam Carmello-Harper, his parents, Michael and Frances Carmello; and a sister, Rosemary Gruenberg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calhoun County Community Foundation.

Services for Elbert J. “Hamburger” Clark, 69, of Anniston will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.
Mr. Clark died Sunday at Beckwood Manor Nursing Home.

Services for Theodore R. Crankfield, 76, of Anniston will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at 18th Street Church of God in Christ with Elder Walter E. Sharpe officiating. Burial will be in Edgemont Cemetery with Ervin Funeral Chapel in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Crankfield died Friday at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Coletha Crankfield; a daughter, Linda Williams; a stepson, James Anthony Redwine; a sister, Hattie Brown; three grandchildren, Pertina Williams, Macon Williams and Raymond Williams, and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Fernandez Satcher, Tharnell Satcher, Joseph Ragland and Emmitt Akles.

Graveside services for Willie Lee “Flat Top-Cooter Red” Elston, 69, of Dayton, formerly of Talladega, will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Kelly Springs Memorial Garden with Rev. L.L. Jacobs officiating and Sims Funeral Service in charge. Viewing will be noon-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Elston died Aug. 12 at his home.
Survivors include a son, Rufus Barclay of Talladega; two daughters, Sharon Banks of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Buffy Elston of Dayton; three sisters, Bertha Gilley and Lorraine Curry, both of Talladega and Mary L. Chatman of Dayton; a brother, Willie E. Elston of Talladega; an aunt, Della Treadwell of Dayton; an uncle, Frank Elston of Talladega, and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Graveside services for Virginia Leatrice Peyton, 86, of Anniston will be today at 10 a.m. at Forestlawn Gardens with Rev. Bob McLeod officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge.
Mrs. Peyton died Sunday at Beverly Health Care Center in Oxford.
Survivors include a sister, Claydie Marple of Nashville, Tenn.; and a niece, Kay Kiber of Florida.
Mrs. Peyton was a native of Kentucky, lived in Nashville most of her life and had lived in Anniston seven years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas M. Peyton, and a nephew, George Cook.

Services for Frances Louise Stanley, 79, of Talladega will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home with Revs. Dale Hooper and Jerry Foote officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stanley died Saturday at St. Clair Regional Medical Center in Pell City.
Survivors include three sisters, Juanita Solley of Talladega, Flora T. Welch of Montgomery and Jewel Dean Haynes of Munford; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Roy Bean Jr., Bubba Cooper, Billy R. Stephens, Joe E. Haynes, Jeff Leadmon and Gerald Grogan.
Mrs. Stanley was a native of Talladega County and had lived in Birmingham most of her life. She moved back to Talladega about seven years ago and was a member of West End Baptist Church. She was retired from Mayfield Cleaners in Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garvin “Doc” Stanley.

Services for Larry L. Taylor, 33, of Piedmont will be today at 3 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Revs. Byrian Watts and Mark Boswell officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor died Sunday at Jacksonville Hospital.
Survivors include his parents, George and Peggy Taylor of Piedmont; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Brian Taylor and Phillip and Tonya Taylor, all of Piedmont; his grandmother, Kathleen Taylor Piedmont; a niece, Hope Taylor of Piedmont; a nephew, Cauy Taylor of Piedmont; and a host of aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Alan Floyd, Guy McVeigh, Billy Haggard, David Maddox, Marty Messer, Bo Broome, Michael Simpson and Henry Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Holbrooks, Adam Maddox, Cody Holbrooks, Andrew Maddox and Derrell Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of the Piedmont area. He was a 1986 graduate of Spring Garden High School and was employed by B & K Contractors. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eric Taylor.

Burial will follow in Old Nazarath Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends today 6-9 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home.
Mr. Agan died Saturday at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Anderson Agan; two sons, Dewayne Agan and his wife, Christy, of Centre and Nick Agan and his wife, Lisa, all of Cedar Bluff; four sisters, Haney Green, Annie Kerr and her husband, Rev. Doyle Kerr, Reba Crider and her husband, Paul, all of Centre, Betty Lee and her husband Paul Jr., of Leesburg; four brothers, M.C. "Red" Agan and his wife, Pat, Rev. Eugene Agan and his wife, Bonnie, all of Cedartown, Ga., Crayton Agan and his wife, Nonnie, of Rome, Ga., and Jerome Agan and his wife, Era, of Cave Springs, Ga.; two grandchildren, Bailey Agan of Centre and Austin Agan of Cedar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Jeff Rogers, Steve Rogers, Adrian Rogers, Johnny Agan, Kenneth Agan, Mackey Agan, Gene Agan and Eric Crider. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and relatives.
Mr. Agan was a native of Cherokee County. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and a retired textile worker.

Graveside services for Travis Jerome Cheatwood, 68, of Montgomery, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Eastaboga Baptist Church Cemetery with Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega in charge. The family will receive friends today 6-8 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery. The body will be at Usrey Funeral Home Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Cheatwood died Saturday at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Claudine Cheatwood; two sons, Haskell Cheatwood and his wife, Cindy, and David Wayne Cheatwood and his wife, Sandra Noel, all of Montgomery; a brother, Jerry Cheatwood and his wife, Martha Haynes of Talladega; and a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Cheatwood.
