Cromer
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.
Services for J.W. Cromer, 70, of Chattanooga will be today at 11 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home in Centre with Rev. Kenneth Decker officiating. Burial will be in Barnett Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Cromer died Sunday at his home.
Survivors include four sons, Michael Cromer, Dennis Cromer and Holland Cromer, all of Rome, Ga., and Todd Cromer of Leesburg; three daughters, Linda Dewitt of Auburn, Kay Stansell of Shannon, Ga., and Debra E. Slayton of Gaylesville; a brother, Walter Gramlin Cromer of Cedartown, Ga.; a sister, Jackie Chesnut of Leesburg, and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tim Cromer, Keith Cromer, John Chesnut, James Chesnut and Ronald Chesnut.
Mr. Cromer was a native of Cherokee County and the son of the late Velma Brown and Willie Joe Cromer. He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Cromer.

Fowler
Graveside services for Floyd W. Fowler, 85, of Anniston will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Forestlawn Gardens with Revs. Jim Wilson and Earnest Lipham officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 4-7 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Fowler died Tuesday at Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Louise Fowler Poe of Niceville, Fla.; two sisters, Ollie Nobbley of Roanoke and Ezell Noell of Anniston; a caregiver, Annie Wood-Lyner of Wedowee; two grandchildren, Veronica Elizabeth Aguire and Robert Bruce Poe; and two great-grandchildren, Daniel Aguire and Andrew Aguire.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Mr. Fowler was an Army World War II veteran, and had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was retired from the Army Civil Service at Fort McClellan. He helped build the facilities at Cheaha State Park and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Services for Henry Shade Gaither, 83, of 181 Gaither Circle, Munford will be today at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Rev. Mark Gaither officiating. Burial will be in Stockdale Cemetery.
Mr. Gaither died Monday at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Geneva Gaither of Munford; five daughters, Sara Ann Pilkington of Hollins, Jewel Dean Russell and Henrietta Neville, both of Talladega, Alice Faye Parton of Anniston and Inez Ferguson of Munford; three sons, Steve Dickson Gaither of Pitts, Ga. and Kenneth Daniel Gaither and Ralph Henry Gaither, both of Munford; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Gaither, Chris Bishop, David Griffin, Tony Ferguson, Dewayne Ferguson and Timothy Hallmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Gaither, Jeff Gaither, Chris Wolf and Jeremy Wolf.
Mr. Gaither was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County. He was a member of Ironaton United Methodist Church and was retired from Wilcox Roofing.

Mr. Holbert died Saturday at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Erica O. Holbert of Anniston; three sons, Christian Jalen Holbert of North Carolina and Cameron Tyler Holbert and Chayton Perris Holbert, both of Anniston; a stepson, Anthony Brett Jackson of Anniston; his parents, Douglas Ray Holbert and his wife, Cindy, of Brea, Ky. and Pamela Kay Holbert and her companion, Terry Minish, of Anniston; a sister, Karey Diane Holbert of Anniston; and his grandparents, Victor L. Holbert of Richmond, Ky. and Gibson S. Hicks and his wife, Bessie, of Anniston.
Pallbearers will be Greg Tolbert, Donovan Snider, John Dempsey, Jeremy Clark, Sam LeFoy and Ronnie Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Vann Johns, Brandon Haynes and Jeff Morgan.
Mr. Holbert was a Kentucky native and had lived in Anniston 22 years. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Myrtle D. Holbert.

Mr. Maddox had lived in Cherokee and Calhoun counties all of his life. He was a World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Maude Maddox; two sisters, Lillie Floyd and Flora McFry; and a brother, Hershel Maddox.
Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Piedmont Rescue Squad.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville in charge. The family will receive friends 5-8 tonight and until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Roughton died Monday at Clay County Hospital in Ashland.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi Roughton of Mellow Valley; three daughters, Brenda Gortney and Janet McVey, both of Mellow Valley, and Wanda Strickland of Birmingham; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ashley McVey, Dusty McVey, Julian Gortney, Wesley Flowers, Dale Watts and David McVey.
Mr. Roughton was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. He was an Army veteran and an equipment operator for the Clay County Commission for 17 years. He was a farmer and a member of Mellow Valley Baptist Church.

Services for Marie Carr Allen Thomas, 63, of A-5 Cooper Homes, Anniston will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Quintin Woods officiating. Burial will be in Eden Hills Cemetery with Anniston Funeral Service in charge. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.
Mrs. Thomas died Friday at Talladega Health Care Center.
Survivors include three daughters, Johnnie Cowden, Sarah Parker and Miranda Harris, all of Anniston; a son, James Allen of Anniston; a sister, Dorothy Davis Parker of Anniston; her foster mother, Myrtle Miller of Anniston, two foster brothers, four foster sisters, 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Mrs. Thomas was a lifelong resident of Anniston and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Thomas; and her parents, Johnson Lee Carr and Mattie Mae Carr.

Mrs. Wells died Monday at Sunbridge Mt. Berry Nursing Home in Rome, Ga.
Survivors include a son, Billy Wayne Wells of Kingston; three daughters, Florine Jones and her husband, Russell of Fort Payne and Opal Allmon and her husband, Charles, and Margret Hilliard, all of Kingston; four brothers, Grady Hunter, Edgar Hunter and Gene Hunter, all of Centre and Clifford Hunter of Kingston; a sister, Dovie Thurmon of Kingston, 34 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Mrs. Wells was a native of Cherokee County and a homemaker.
