Alice Hazel Boatright

Funeral services for Alice Hazel Boatright, 87, of Tarrant will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the Revs. Randy Sellers and Hobert Thomas officiating, with Burial in Welti Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Boatright died Sunday, Sept. 12 in Gadsden. She was born in Cullman County on June 4, 1917, to Alfred and Minnie Lee Stewart Tucker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Ollie Boatright.

Survivors include four daughters, Gayle Chambers of Gadsden, Dean Gentry of Columbiana, Judy Mason of Athens and Alice Smith of Birmingham; a brother, Luther Tucker of Gardendale; a sister, Mary Jo Rice of Bessemer; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Milford Alton Burrow

Funeral services for Milford Alton Burrow, 71, of Falkville will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Millard Mann officiating, with Burial in Duck River Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Burrow died Sunday, Sept. 12 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born June 15, 1933, in Cullman to William Banks and Ethyl Mae Samples Burrow. He was a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Vaughn and Jon Vaughn; two sisters, Mildred Crumbley and Louise Buchanan; and two grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Wallace Bagwell

Funeral services for Wallace Bagwell, 63, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, David McDonald and Jackie Ellenburg officiating, with Burial in Bethlehem Cemetery at Glory Hill.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bagwell died Sunday, Sept. 12 at his residence He was born Feb. 2, 1941, in Cullman. He was a sheet metal roofer for Gulf States Roofing.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Bagwell; a brother, Tommy Bagwell; and a sister, Jackie Watson.

Survivors include his father, Troy Bagwell; the mother of his children, Alice White; two sons, Kenny (Janet) Bagwell and Chris (Jeanie) Bagwell; two daughters, Teresa (Herbert) Mayo and Connie Phillips; five sisters, Mary (O.W.) Tucker, Nettie (Sonny) Cupp, Bonnie (Elbert) Pirkle, June Young and Rebecca Haynes; six grandsons, Westley (Stephanie) Bagwell, Kevin Bagwell, Jake and Luke Bagwell, John and Cory Phillips; four granddaughters, Jessica and Jerrica Bagwell, Wendy Downs and Hope Bagwell; and three great-grandchildren, Preston Bagwell, Paydon Bagwell and Chase Cruce.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Cecil Thomas

Funeral services for Cecil Thomas, 60, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Pleasant View Baptist Church, the Rev. Randy Burtram and Elder Guy Hunt officiating, with Burial in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomas died Monday, Sept. 20, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

Clinton A. Grisom

Graveside services for Clinton A. Grisom, 82, of Tuscaloosa will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Emeus Cemetery, Keith Whitley officiating.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Grisom died Sunday, Sept. 19, at Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa. He was born Feb. 13, 1922, to Vance and Fannie Roberts Grissom. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Christian Grissom; and his wife, Maggie Marie Grisom.

Survivors include one son, J.R. (Reba) Grisom; one daughter, Elizabeth Marie (Wilson) Henderson; one brother, Hoyt Grissom; one sister, Cora Margaret Gill; one grandson, Jared Grisom; one granddaughter, Fran Brown; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Klair Brown.

Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. today.

Allie Lee

Funeral services for Allie Lee, 80, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Dudley Brock officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mos-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lee died Sunday, Sept. 19, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Nov. 15, 1923, to Calvin W. and Gertrude Robertson Creel. She was a nursing assistant.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert E. Lee Sr.; son, Robert E. Lee Jr.; and two brothers, David and George Creel.

Survivors include five sons, William F. Lee, James Michael (Mary) Lee, Steve Lee, Daniel H. (Cheril) Lee, and Timothy A. (Jancie) Lee, all of Cullman; daughter, Allison (Doug) Wix of Cullman; brother, Phillip (Martha) Creel of Cullman; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Ella 'Mae' Tankersley

Funeral services for Ella "Mae" Tankersley, 93, of Eva will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, Huey Shelton and Norman Dye officiating, with Burial in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Tankersley died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004.

Janette McGriff

Funeral services for Janette McGriff, 78, of Crane Hill, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pastor Warren Ruland officiating, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McGriff died Monday, Sept. 20, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born March 10, 1926, to Guy E. Sr. and Onie Groover Sullengen. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William E.C. McGriff; one brother, Samuel Sullengen; and one sister, Mildred Randle.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy (Jim) Brown of Tupelo, Miss.; one brother, Guy Edward Sullengen Jr. of Cullman; two sisters, Margaret Kansa of Cullman and Mary Douglas of Foley; and three grandchildren, Paul Brown, Jenny (Aryan) Billano and Kaye Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 513 Fourth Ave. SE, Cullman, Ala. 35055.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Henry Lee Westmoreland

Funeral services for Henry Lee Westmoreland, 72, of Addison will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Friendship Church at Upshaw, Roland Westmoreland officiating, with Burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state an hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Westmoreland died Saturday, Sept. 18, at at Woodland Medical Center. He was born in Lawrence County on Jan. 30, 1932, to John and Bethel Kemp Westmoreland.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two sons, Patrick Hnery Westmoreland of Hampton, Ga., Cameron Wentworth Westmoreland of Danville; four daughters, Betty Victoria Szalwinski, Leslie Shannon Banks, Stephanie Denise Stallings, all of Hartselle, and Melissa Alee Westmoreland of Addison; brother, Cleo Westmoreland of Addison; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Dylan S. Stallings, Michael Westmoreland, Ronald Westmoreland, Conley Westmoreland, Randall Hightower, Jimmy Rackley, Patrick Henry Westmoreland II and Brent Bolinger.

Visitation was Monday.

Robert Ellis Rooks

Funeral services for Robert Ellis Rooks, 68, of Houston were at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at New Home Baptist Church, with Burial at New Home Cemetery in Houston.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rooks died Saturday, Sept. 18.

Gordon Preston 'Whity' Bentley

Funeral services for Gordon Preston "Whity" Bentley, 80, of Sylacauga will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Radney-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sylacauga, Dr. Thomas Wesson and the Rev. Eddie Forbus officiating, with Burial at Grimes Chapel Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bentley died Saturday, Sept. 18. He was born March 3, 1924, in Harrison County, Ga. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and was married for 19 years. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving during World War II in the European Theatre. He was awarded a World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and a Meritorious Unit Award.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Turney Bentley of Sylacauga; two sons, Donald Bentley and Ronald Bentley, both of Hanceville; two daughters, Barbara Wilson of Hanceville and Branda Waites Cox of Sylacauga; four brothers, Hester Bentley of Forestdale, Dedrick Bentley of Cullman, Edward Bentley of Tallahassee, Fla., and Robert Bentley of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Celesta Armstrong and Mildred Nicholas, both of Cullman; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Monday.

Janette McGriff

Funeral services for Patsy Sue Goodwin Carter, 63, of Cullman are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Moss-Service Funeral Home. Mrs. Carter died Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

Arlon Freeman

Memorial services for Arlon Freeman, 84, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at First United Methodist Church of Rainbow City, the Rev. Kevin Thomas officiating.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Freeman died Aug. 15, in Clearwater, Fla. He was born May 10, 1920, in Cullman County.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wynell Grimmitt Freeman.

Survivors include two daughters, Paulette (Terry) Oaks of Jacksonville and Annise Murphree of Culpeper, Va.; and five grandchildren, Terry Jr. (Anna) Oaks, Robert (Julia) Oaks, Tina (Ronald) Boswell, Milissa (David) Shulis and David Murphree.

Clement B. McWhorter Jr.

Graveside services for Clement B. McWhorter Jr., 79, of Crane Hill will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Sulphur Springs Baptist Cemetery, the Rev. Butch Cleghorn officiating.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McWhorter died Monday, Sept. 20, at his residence. He was born May 3, 1925, to C.B. Sr. and Fanny May Minor McWhorter. He was a retired inspector for U.S. Steel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ellawee Davis McWhorter.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Traylor McWhorter of Crane Hill; a son, Clem (Chesteen) McWhorter of Crane Hill; a stepson, Tommy (Sarah) Traylor of Decatur; a daughter, Carol (Bryan) McFee of Crane Hill; two stepdaughters, Jane Brewster of Oneida, Tenn., and Faith (Kevin) Hyatt of Monett, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Life Care Hospice at 2108 Alabama Highway 157, Cullman, Alabama, 35058.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
