Elizabeth Belle Trimble Chaney
Funeral services for Elizabeth Belle Trimble Chaney, 73, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Joel Martin and Dr. Edwin Hayes officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Chaney died Wednesday, July 21, in Woodland Village Nursing Home. She was born July 29, 1921, in Cullman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Loring and Lois Trimble; two brothers, George and Loring Trimble; and her husband, Vaurice LaVaughn Chaney.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna (David) Christopher; a sister, Mary Ercyl Caudle; three granddaughters, Mary-Beth Myers, Julianna Celeste Christopher and Amy Christina Christopher; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Christopher Myers, Sabrina Alyce Myers and Grace Belle Myers; two sisters-in-law, Magdalene Hancock and Alene Trimble; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the TV ministry of First Baptist Church in Cullman.
Pallbearers will be Terry Trimble, Dr. Richard Trimble, Keith Caudle, Will Rusk, Dr. Harold Hancock and Jay Page.
Visitation was Thursday.

Mrs. Williams died Thursday, July 22, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Cullman County to John and Alma Yarbrough Jacobs. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Lewis Lawson, Frank Jacobs and Arthur Jacobs.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Williams of Cullman; four sons, Frank (Barbara) Williams of Gatesville, Texas, Larry (Tracy) Williams of Cullman and Wayne Williams and Tony (Melinda) Williams, both of Holly Pond; five daughters, Linda (James) Kritner of Sabine Pass, Texas, Barbara (Donald) Kritner of Holly Pond, Tina (Earl) Kritner of Fairview, Doris (James) Mobley of Blountsville and Peggy (Robert) Beasley of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Jane Jacobs, Jewell Johnson and Maggie Jacobs; 29 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.
Milton Henry Partain

Mr. Partain died Thursday, July 22, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Lacon, Ala. to Amos Lawrence and Velma Myrtle Clemens Partain. He was a truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran. He was the retired owner of Western Auto in Hanceville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Jeff Partain.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Wasson Partain of Cullman; a son, Tony (Suzanne) Partain of Gulf Shores; a daughter, Deborah Brannan of Cullman; two brothers, Mack Partain of Empire and Billy Partain of Trussville; four grandchildren, Jonnie Brannan and Amber (Shane) Butts, both of Cullman, Jeffery Partain and Austin Gies, both of Gulf Shores; and two great-grandchildren, Madison Bolling and Bryant Butts.

Mr. McClellan died Tuesday, July 20, at his residence. He was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Cullman County to John and Cordelia Partain McClellan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Therman McClellan.
Survivors include his wife, Callie Elizabeth McClellan; one son, Ronald (Jennifer) McClellan; two grandchildren, Dana (J.J.) Riley and Heather (Michael) Partain; and four great-grandchildren, Ross Partain, Reed Partain, Hunter Riley and Carson O'Livia Riley.

Mrs. Woods died Thursday, July 22, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Cullman County to Jewel and Ludie Purdy Weeks. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elro "Buddy" Woods; a son, James Woods; three brothers, Henry and Hurschell Weeks and Ozell Pichelmayer; and two sisters, Susie Maye Weeks and Ann Weeks.
Survivors include a son, Billy (Kathy) Woods; two daughters, Faye (Jerry) Phillips and Debra (Kenneth) Boyd; two brothers, George (Judy) Weeks and Glenn (Marie) Weeks; a sister, Nell Jackson; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Baty died Thursday, July 22, at her residence. She was born in Tennessee on July 2, 1905. She was a charter member of Valley View Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Baty; her parents, Arnold and Myra Hunt; two sons, Herril and Willis Baty; and three daughters, Earline Bankston, Mildred Davis and an infant daughter.
Survivors include three sons, Howard (Izola) Baty, Leon (Gail) Baty and Malcom (Ruth) Baty, all of Arkadelphia; four daughters, Kathleen (Thomas) White and Sharon Way, both of Cullman, Emogene Wisener of Arkadelphia and Merle (Sam) Baruch of Jasper; a daughter-in-law, Tyrone Baty of Arkadelphia; a brother, B.J. Barrett of Dora; 39 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Constance Say Blankenship
Constance Say Blankenship, age 71, of Hanceville died Thursday, July 22, in Hanceville. She was born in Eldorado, Ill., on July 28, 1932, to Claude M. and Edith M. Barker Wilks. She was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church and the church's Altar Guild. She was a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King. She was involved in Kairos and Re-Entry Ministries. She was a member of ECW at her church. A special thanks to the staff of Hanceville Nursing Home, Moody Hall, for their kindness, comfort and care.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Jimmie) Williams of Hanceville, formerly of Tuscon, Ariz.; a niece/adopted daughter by heart, Pamela (Ron) Kiel of Chelsea, Mich.; six grandchildren, Lorrie (Eddie), John, Billy and Matthew of Tuscon, Ariz., Susan (Tim) of Florida and Erika (Russell) of Michigan; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jonelle (Harold) Wilson of Trenton, Mich.; a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude M. and Edith M. Wilks; a brother, Kenneth Wilks; and her husband of 53 years, Luther Billie Blankenship of Hanceville who died on Nov. 24, 2003, at the age of 74 in Hanceville. (He was born on June 1, 1929, in San Diego, Calif. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a designer engineer in Michigan and Alabama. He was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church and was a member of Kairos and Re-Entry Ministries. A memorial service conducted by Father Brent, was held in January of 2004 for Mr. Blankenship).
Memorial services for Mrs. Blankenship will be held at a later date.
The cremains of Mr. and Mrs. Blankenship will be placed in a Columbarium at Grace Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Churchill of Cullman; a grandson, Matt Harden of Cullman; a granddaughter, Krystal McAnelly of Cullman; an uncle, J.A. (Maxine) Clingingsmith of Holly Pond; and a son-in-law, Eddy McAnelly of Cullman.

Miss Hightower died Friday, July 23, at Huntsville Medical Center. She was born April 4, 1974, in Hartselle.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Melvin Hightower; her grandmother, Opal Allen; and her nephew, Harrison Olinger.
Survivors include her parents, George and Diann Hightower; two sons, Zackery Graham and Reese Graham; one sister, Stacie (Brian) Olinger; her grandparents, Paul and Ludy Anderson; and one niece, Shelbie Olinger.

Ethel Irene Nunn

Herschel Asber Doss
On July 22, 2004, Herschel Asber Doss passed away at his farm, which was part of first land patent issued by the United States (1820) in present day Cullman County and where he had resided since 1943. Doss was a great-great-great-great-grandson of Daniel Speegle, who was appointed as one of seven commissioners to locate and organize a county seat for the newly created Hancock County, Alabama (name changed to Winston County in 1858 for area that included today's western half of Cullman County). Daniel Speegle came to Alabama about 1820 from Lincoln County, North Carolina settling in the current day Brushy Creek/Trimble area. Speegle has hundreds of descendants in Alabama and other sections of the nation.
On Jan. 20, 1912, Doss was born to his parents, Jeneral Mack Doss and Wella Knight Doss, their fourth of 10 children, at Loretta (Valley Springs) in Cullman County. A prominent farmer, Doss served for more than two decades as trustee of Good Hope Junior High (now Good Hope High School) and for many years as a deacon and trustee of the Good Hope Baptist Church. He served on the Good Hope Town Council until he was 80 years old.
For several years toward the end of his working life, Doss was employed by the United States Dept. of Agriculture.
He registered to vote at 21 and was an active Democrat throughout his life.
Doss was preceded in death by his wife of more than 63 years, Dorothy Pauline Blalock Doss, who was the great-granddaughter of Cullman County's first probate judge, Thaddeus McMinn. Doss is survived by two sons, Chriss H. (Harriet) Doss of Birmingham, Jack M. (Glenda) Doss of Good Hope; two daughters, Peggy Jean Doss of Good Hope and Patsy Pauline Doss (Mal) Patterson of Hartselle; six grandsons; four granddaughters; five great-grandsons; and five great-granddaughters.
Doss is survived by four siblings, Margaret D. Trimble of Woodland Nursing Home in Cullman, Kenneth G. Doss of Athens, Ala., Freda D. Livingston of Cullman, Robert Dale Doss of Mobile; a great number of nephews, nieces and cousins; and a great host of friends.
Mr. Doss' family wishes to thank his dedicated caregiver, Melba Robinson.
Visitation will be at Moss-Service Funeral Home on Monday, July 26, 2004, from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Good Hope Baptist Church where Doss has been a member for more than 70 years, with interment in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. immediately prior to the funeral.
Dr. Ralph Andrews and the Rev. Kenneth Hester will officiate and Moss-Service Funeral Home will be in charge. Pallbearers (grandsons and grandsons-in-law) will be William Doss, Reuben Doss, Morrow Doss, Logan Doss, Kelly Patterson, Mac Patterson, Gaylon Tidwell, Robbert Tindal, Andy Irvine and Paul Cannon, Jr.
For memorials, the Building Fund, Good Hope Baptist Church (531 Good Hope School Road, Cullman, Ala. 35057) or Hospice of Cullman County (402 4th Ave. NE, Cullman, Ala. 35055) are suggested.
Charles Julius Jennings
Funeral services for Charles Julius Jennings, 83, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at Seventh Street Baptist Church on Seventh Street, Dr. Scott Harris officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mr. Jennings died Saturday, July 24, at Morningside Assisted Living. He was born Sept. 20, 1920, to Ellis and Lora Lawrence Jennings. He was a retired auto mechanic.
He was preceded in death by one brother, R. O. Jennings.
Survivors include his wife, Bess Williamson Jennings; one son, Michael (Gloria) Jennings of Opelika; two daughters, Shelia (Rick) Baker of Cullman and Donna (Steve) Swofford of Birmingham; six grandchildren, Alicia McClain, Stephanie Ferrell, Joy Jones, April Buston, Keith Swofford and Rachel Swofford; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
