Jean Hays Dall'au

Funeral services for Jean Hays Dall'au, 81, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Holly Pond, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Eidson Chapel Church, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dall'au died Tuesday, April 27, in Miami, Fla. She was born near Cullman on April 3, 1923, to Nathaniel Gordon and Nellie Martin Hays. She was raised in Holly Pond. She was a homemaker. She worked during World War II at the U.S. Army's Anniston Depot, where she was welcomed back recently for a tour of the facilities and to honor her for her war service. She was a volunteer for Catholic Hospice for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Rene Dall'au.

Survivors include a son, André (Jo) Dall'au; a daughter, Renette Dall'au; a brother, Raymond Hays; a sister, Jo LaGrone; two grandsons, Chris Dall'au and Jared Dall'au; and dear friend, Florence Candotti.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Hospice, 7300 Southwest 88 Suite 660, Miami, Fla. 33156.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eidson Chapel Church.

William Howard McBrayer

Funeral services for William Howard McBrayer, 71, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Richard Bailey and Donald Lee Abbott officiating, with Burial in Crossroads Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McBrayer died Sunday, May 2, at his residence. He was born on April 25, 1933, in Cullman County to Richard Temus and Maggie Mae Johnson McBrayer. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Perry and J.B. McBrayer; a sister, Thelma Ozell Stephens; and two grandsons, Christopher Larry Schultz and John David Glover.

Survivors include his ex-wife and mother of his children, Ocia Sellers McBrayer Banister of Cullman; two sons, Ricky (Alice) McBrayer of Cullman and Benny (Rose Ann) McBrayer of Oden Ridge; six daughters, Carol (Larry) Schultz, Becky (Billy) Philyaw, Shelia (Billy) Wright, Vickie (Michael) Knight and Samantha (Steve) Knight, all of Cullman, and Cynthia (Darrell) Hayden of Dunkin, Ariz.; three brothers, Wade (Jo) McBrayer of Douglas, Billy (Ivarene) McBrayer and Richard Jr. (Marie) McBrayer of Cullman; five sisters, Mary Lou (Charles) Stewart of Blue Ridge, Ga., Hazel (Ray) Sanford, Marggie (Rock) Pigg, Dorothy (Bobby) Johnson of Cullman and Shirley (Donald Dingwitz) Conn of Cullman; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Elvie Virginia Bonnie Brown

Graveside services for Elvie Virginia Bonnie Brown, 76, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Duck River Cemetery, Elder Don McPherson officiating.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brown died Sunday, May 2, at Cullman Health Care. He was born May 18, 1927, to Lonnie and Elvie Jones McGinnis. She was a bank teller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Donald Rex McPherson and Vickey Lynn McPherson; a daughter, Virginia McPherson; four sisters; and six brothers.

Survivors include a son, Rick (Wilma Jean) McPherson; two brothers, E.C. McGinnis and A.W. McGinnis; four sisters, Maxine Clingingsmith, Ann Drake, Clois McNear and Myrtle Goodhugh; three grandchildren, Don (Paula) McPherson, Rachel (Kevin) Martin and Betty (Derrick) Dobson; a stepgrandchild, Jack (Jane) Moore; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Wylmer Levester Bates

Funeral services for Wylmer Levester Bates, 73, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Revs. Mary Scales, Frank Stone and Jerry Freeman officiating, with Burial in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery in Trimble.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bates died Sunday, May 2, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 6, 1930, in Cullman County to Charles Sylvanus and Emily Melvina Calvert Bates. He was a cabinet maker for Cullman Cabinet Company.

He was preceded in death by parents; three brothers, Milton, Alonzo, W.C. "Patrick" Bates; seven sisters, Rovena Willcutt, Arilla Buchanan, Manila Waldrop, Vonda Nell Taylor, Christena HEster and Elenor Bates; and his father-in-law, Adolphus Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Erma Taylor Bates of Cullman; four sons, Michael Taylor Bates and Rodney (April) Taylor, both of Trimble; Gary (Terri) Taylor of North Little Rock, Ark. and Danny (Kathy) Taylor of Midfield; a daughter, Brenda Taylor Sanchez of Trimble; a sister, Marie Freeman of LaCenter, Wash.; his mother-in-law, Pearl Taylor of Trimble; a special friend, John Paul Myrick of Trimble; eight grandchildren, April (Clay) Delong of Jacksonville, Ark.; Christi Lucerio and Jennifer Yarbrough, both of Colleyville, Texas; Jeremy (Rachel) Taylor of Cleveland; and Justin and Tyler Vanderburg and Chase and Lindsey Taylor, all of Trimble; and two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Christopher Taylor of Cleveland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bowman's Chapel United Methodist Church building fund, c/o Sharon Stewart, 42 Willow Springs Dr., Cullman, Ala. 35057.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Carl A. Robb

Funeral services for Carl A. Robb, 61, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004, at St. John's Lutheran Church of Decatur, Ill., Pastor Weiss officiating, with Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Ill. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Robb died Saturday, May 1, at his residence. He was born June 13, 1942, in Decatur, Ill., to Carl Edward and Charity Belle Lecrone Robb. He served on the Decatur Junior Football League as a volunteer and as trustee of the Longcreek Fire Department for more than 25 years. He was retired from Cash Valve Manufacturing Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Paul Wood; mother-in-law, Hazel Wood; and sister, Joy Darlene Warren.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra K. Wood Robb of Cullman; two sons, Phillip M. Robb of Hilo, Hawaii, and Paul E. Robb of Fern Park, Fla.; one daughter, Suzanne K. Robb Logan of Decatur, Ill.; two sisters, Pat (Norm) Allen-Massey of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Carol (Don) Stubblefield of Decatur, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Dr. Linda (Mike) Droll and Cherie (Bill) Meyer, both of Decatur, Ill.; and one brother-in-law, G. Douglas (Judy) Wood of Aloha, Ore.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to AlaCare Hospice in Cullman or Longcreek Fire Department, Mt. Zion Road, Decatur, Ill., 62521.

Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Freda Mae 'Jackie' Scott

Funeral services for Freda Mae "Jackie" Scott, 73, of Cullman will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Ole Time Way Baptist Church, Jimmy Scott and Freddy Giles officiating, with Burial in Good Hope Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Scott died Sunday, May 2, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Cullman County to Gurtis and Edith Coker Purdy. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Hubert Scott of Cullman; three sons, Larry (Annette) Scott of Millry; Bradley (Carol) Scott of Savannah, Ga.; and David (Debra) Scott of Good Hope; two daughters, Sandra (Al) Barton of Logan and Teresa (Scott) Dyer of Cullman; a brother, Gurtis "Sonny" Purdy Jr. of Hanceville; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Martin Luther Boyd

Funeral services for Martin Luther Boyd, 87, of Albertville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Addison, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Boyd died Saturday, May 1, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Burney Boyd; and his second wife, Luna Mae Glasco Boyd.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Boyd; two daughters, June Church and Marci Annett; two brothers, Hulen Boyd and Fay Boyd; three sisters, May Netherton, Myrtle Williamson and Maryetta Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Trevor Lavon Martin

Graveside services for Trevor Lavon Martin, 7 days, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Cullman City Cemetery, the Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating.

Trevor died Monday, May 3, at Baptist Medical Center, Montclair. He was born April 27, 2004, in Cullman.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather.

Survivors include his parents, Stephen Allan Rusp II and Tabatha Martin; his grandparents, Thomas and Rebecca Martin, Kathleen Raley and Stephen Allan Rust; and his great-grandparents, Jimmy Jacqulon Martin, Wesley and Jeanette Freeman, Dwight and Brenda Crider and Jack and Joan Rusp.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Clairene B. Thomas

Graveside services for Clairene B. Thomas, 82, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Cullman City Cemetery, the Rev. Charles Cantebury officiating.

Mrs. Thomas died Monday, May 3, at Cullman Long Term Care Center. She was born August 8, 1921, to John William and Beda Adiline Scott White. She was a sales clerk.

Survivors include one son, Jerry (Karen) Burnham of Cullman; one daughter, Bobbie Smith of Cullman; one sister, Lily Taylor of Cullman; nine grandchildren; Lisa Smith, Tracy Morrison, Kelly Jones, Jerousha Elrod, Eric Burnham, Andrew Burnham, Tammy Stutts, Tanya Skinner and Toni Smith; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Betty Carol Swann Hammock

Funeral services for Betty Carol Swann Hammock, 65, of Garden City will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hayden, with Burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hammock died Sunday, May 2.

Survivors include three sons, Terry (Michelle) Reburn of Hartselle, Thomas (Annette) Reburn of Gardendale and Wayne (Tracy) Reburn of Cullman; three daughters, Regina (Chris) Borne of Friendswood, Texas; Rhonda R. (Lee) Chamoun of Mt. Brook; and Rose Reburn of Nashville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; her mother, Lorene Swann of Hayden; two brothers, Gerald (Shirley) Swann and C.J. (Sheila) Swann, both of Hayden; and three sisters, Sue (Jack) Daily of Oneonta, Coylene (Charlie) McKeehon of Birmingham and Janet (Drennon) Smithson of Vinemont.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Anna Mae Knight

Graveside services for Anna Mae Knight, 87, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs.

Mrs. Knight died Tuesday, May 4, in Cullman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Frances Turner Cash, and one sister, June Umfress.

Survivors include one daughter, Louise Stewart; one grandson, Gary Umfress; and one great-grandson, Kyle Umfress.

Visitation will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Nichols Funeral Home.

Laura Jane Walker

Mrs. Walker died Monday, May 3, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Walker; and her parents, Ruben and Susie Dunn Smith.

Survivors include one son, Tommy Walker; three daughters, Kathleen Beavers, Jewell Bailey and Betty Ledbetter; one sister, Betheny Cobb; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McSwain died Wednesday, May 5, in Cullman. She was born Nov. 25, 1912, in Cullman County.

Survivors include one sister, Emma McSwain Morgan of Brushy Pond.

Jesse Paul Norris

Graveside services for Jesse Paul Norris, 33, of Cullman will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Mt. Grove Baptist Cemetery, Walter Peace officiating.

Mr. Norris died Wednesday, May 5. He was born in Lake Charles, La., on Oct. 11, 1970.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda Holly Norris of Cullman; six children, Adrian, Devan, Icie, Jesse, Joseph and Dustin; his parents, Delly and Billy Norris Sr. of Hanceville; his grandmother, Dorothy E. Norris of Louisiana; two brothers, Billy Norris and Jonathan (Tammy) Norris, both of Hanceville; three sisters, Kayla (Shawn) Fulfer and Tanya Norris, both of Cullman, and Kelinda (Danis) Castro of Cullman; and two half-brothers, Ronald Reeves and Jason Reeves, both of Louisiana.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
