MARY F. LEWALLEN

OXFORD — Funeral service for Mary F. Lewallen, 65, was Monday at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial was in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Lewallen died Dec. 20 at Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Calhoun County and member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and George Boyd Sr., two brothers, George Boyd Jr. and Jimmy Boyd, and one sister, Vida Elizabeth Boyd.

She is survived by two daughters, Vicky Newsome and Mary Terry, both of Oxford; four sons, Henry Lewallen of Phenix City, George Lewallen of Talladega, Timmy Lewallen of Anniston and Gerald Lewallen of Iron City; two sisters, Ruth Creek of Smyrna, Ga., and Margie Smallenburg of Rochester, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Steve Newsome, Ralph Carter, Joey Boyd, Gary Warren, George Lewallen and Wayne Boyd.

Honorary pallbearers were Henry Lewallen, Jerry Lewallen, Gerry Lewallen, Timmy Lewallen and Taylor Warneke.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the National Cancer Society.

Miller Funeral Home directed the service.

JONATHAN BRYAN MCDONALD

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Jonathan Bryan McDonald, 24, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Kellyton Full Gospel Revival Center with the Rev. Arnold Sanders and the Rev. Allen Harvel officiating. Burial will be in Kellyton Cemetery.

Mr. McDonald died Dec. 23 in Coosa County. He was preceded in death by his father, John K. McDonald, and his brother, John Edward McDonald. He was a child of Christ.

He is survived by his mother, Helen Bevels McDonald of Sylacauga; his daughter, Kaylee Marie McDonald of Sylacauga; five brothers, John M. McDonald of Sylacauga, Johnny M. McDonald of Alexander City, Mike K. McDonald of Opelika, Kerry L. McDonald of Opelika, Jimmy Wayne McDonald of Calera; two sisters, Tina Harvell of Sylacauga and Angie Stone of Opelika.

The family will receive friends Thursday at his residence, 161 McClellan Lane in Sylacauga, prior to the service.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

BERTHA LEE TWYMON

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Bertha Lee Twymon, 71, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Africa Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William T. Threatt officiating. Burial will be in Africa Cemetery.

Mrs. Twymon died Dec. 23 at Citizens Baptist Medical Center. She joined Africa Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She served in its choir and matrons circle and was a devoted Sunday school member. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Duncan and Nathaniel Merritt Duncan Gunn, one brother, Oliver Duncan, and two sisters, Emma Swain and Estelle Swain.

She is survived by her husband, Willie P. Twymon of Talladega; two daughters, Patricia Hardy of Alto Loma, Calif., and Brenda Babbs of Oxford; three sons, Ernest Gary Duncan of Cleveland, Calvin Twymon and Ronald Twymon, both of Talladega; one sister, Ada Mae Twymon of Talladega; one brother, Ernest Duncan of Talladega; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be the deans and trustees of Africa Missionary Baptist Church.

Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

PINKIE MAE WILSON

CLEVELAND — Pinkie Mae Wilson, 90, formerly of Childersburg, died Dec. 25 at Kindred Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.

ROY DONALD BAKER

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Roy Donald Baker, 69, was at 2 p.m. Monday at Talladega Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Whitstone officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Baker died Dec. 27 at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Talladega and was a member of Bemiston Baptist Church. He was employed by Bemis Company for 30 years and owned and operated Baker's Exxon Full Service Station for 17 years.

Mr. Baker was a past member of the Talladega Lion's Club and the Talladega Rescue Squad. He served several years on the Talladega City Recreation Board and coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, as well as Talladega City League Basketball.

Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents, Olen Walter Baker and Hattie King Baker, and a granddaughter, Misty Darlene Trammell.

He is survived by his wife, Ophelia G. Baker; his daughter, Janice Trammell; his son, Mike Baker and his wife Teresa; two granddaughters, Christy Ramey and husband Bruce and Jennifer Trammell, all of Talladega; three grandsons, Ryan Baker of Birmingham, Blake Baker of Louisville, Ky., and Clint Brewer of Talladega; and one great-grandchild, Baylee Ramey of Talladega. He is also survived by one brother, Thurman Baker of Birmingham, and one sister, Vonda Randall of Talladega.

Pallbearers were Jackie Stephens, Roy Champion, Jimmy Pruet, Donny Miller, James Peeples, J.W. Baker, Loften Smith and Bobby Eason.

Honorary pallbearers were James Barber, Tommy Barber, Jimmy Norred, Charles Sanders, Glen Trammell, Andy Sexton and James Upchurch.

Talladega Funeral Home directed the service.

FRANCES GRIFFIN BARTLETT

MORRIS — Funeral service for Frances Griffin Bartlett, 83, will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Chet Rhoden officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Bartlett died Dec. 28 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation in Gardendale. She was a native of Clay County, lived in Anniston for 35 years and was a resident of Talladega for 22 years. She had lived in Morris since February 2002. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife for 62 years and a beloved mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Jenny Griffin; two sisters, Estelle Smith and Tula Stewart; and two brothers, Earl Griffin and Pelham Griffin.

She is survived by her husband, Henry W. Bartlett Sr. of Morris; two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry W. Jr. and Patricia Bartlett of Decatur and Lawrence M. (Larry) and LaJean Bartlett of Morris; two sisters and their husbands, Betty and Clevis Runyan of Roebuck and Willie Heard Blacketor of Birmingham; one brother and his wife, Millard and Sara Griffin of Talladega; two grandchildren, Kimberlee and husband Jamey Rayborn of Center and Michael and wife Misti Bartlett of Warrior; four great-grandchildren, Kristina and Katrina Rayborn and Micah and Makenzi Bartlett; three sisters-in-law, Lela Griffin of Talladega, Catherine Holmes of Talladega and Dorothy Wheeler of Hamilton, Ohio; and one brother-in-law, Billy Bartlett of Talladega.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

VIDA MAE BURNHAM

PELL CITY — Graveside service for Vida Mae Burnham, 86, will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Mt. Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Smith officiating.

Mrs. Burnham died Dec. 29. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Burnham; daughter, Judy; sister, Irene White; and brother, George Thomason.

She is survived by one son, Bobby Burnham Sr. of Pell City; sisters, Laura Kay Ellen, Mavis Bice, Mary LaRue, Lucille Patterson and Lily Rodgers; brothers, Robert Wayne Thomason, Freeman S. Thomason and Joseph F. Thomason; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

LUCY TAYLOR FLEMING CLAY

ANNISTON — Funeral service for Lucy Taylor Fleming Clay, 93, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Anniston Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Warren Adams officiating. Burial will be in Eden Hills Cemetery.

Mrs. Clay died Dec. 26 in Anniston. She was a native of Talladega and a longtime resident of Anniston. She was preceded in death by daughters, Mattie Hunley, Willie Mae Pettie, Nellie Stewart and Lula Bell Fleming; son, Willie James Fleming; and brother, Charlie Taylor.

She is survived by one daughter, Naomi Bradford of Anniston; one son, T.M. Fleming of Anniston; one sister, Mae Rilla Taylor; brothers, George Taylor, Billy Taylor, Leroy Taylor, Shadey Taylor, Leman Taylor and Sherman Taylor; 22 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 50 great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Anniston Funeral Service will direct the service.

MARCUS ELLERY ROGERS

TALLADEGA — Marcus Ellery Rogers, 61, died Dec. 30.

Funeral arranagements will be announced by Usrey Funeral Home.

CHARDAVIAN FEARS

TALLADEGA — Chardavian Fears, 2, died Dec. 27.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

OWEN OTTO HARMON

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Owen Otto Harmon, 65, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Talladega.

Mr. Harmon died Dec. 30. He was born in St. Clair County. He was a 1956 graduate of Pell City High School. After graduating from Pell City High School, he entered the U.S. Air Force where he served four years. After leaving the Air Force, he sold insurance with Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company for 12 years, serving as district manager. He served in law enforcement the next 35 years, retiring as the chief deputy from the St. Clair County Sheriffs Department in 1999. He was a member of the American Legion, a member of the Ragland Masonic Lodge and a member of the Eastern Star in Ragland. He was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Pell City.

He is survived by his wife, Jeri H. Harmon of Pell City; daughter, Sonya H. Jenkins and son-in-law Phillip of Talladega; brother, Wayne Nixon of Pell City; three grandchildren, Brandy Jenkins, the Rev. Phillip Ray Jenkins Jr. and Shana J. Shell; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan Shell, Juliana Shell and Dekana Jenkins.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the New Life Assembly of God Church in Pell City.
