Jack Bruce "Jerry" Merritt

Graveside services for Jack Bruce "Jerry" Merritt, 57, of Huntsville will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Merritt died Friday, Jan. 23, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born March 11, 1947, in Florida to Jack and June Livingston Merritt. He was a plant worker in furniture manufacturing.

Survivors include two aunts, Mary Grace Ryder and Alma Jane Lucas; and three uncles, Gene Merritt, Bill Merritt and Jim Merritt.

No visitation is planned.

Martha Nell Quick

Funeral services for Martha Nell Quick, 60, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at Moss-Service Funeral Chapel, David McDonald and Henry Smith officiating, with Burial in Bethsadia Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Quick died Friday, Jan. 23, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 31, 1943, in Cullman to Reverda Early and Edna Inez Boatright Brown. She was a housewife.

Survivors include her husband, Ovie Troy Quick; two daughters, Deborah Jean (Bruce) Holder of Valley Grove and Melissa Ann (Marshall) McDonald of Dodge City; one son, Randall (Jennifer) Quick of Cullman; two sisters, Charlene (John Henry) Smith and Marjorie (Jerry) Reynolds, both of Valley Grove; two brothers, Eugene (Barbara Boatright) Brown and Harold Brown, both of Valley Grove; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ida Graves

Funeral services for Ida Graves, 72, of Sylacauga, formerly of Bradford, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at Gardendale Chapel. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Cullman City Cemetery.

Gardendale Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Graves died Friday, Jan. 23. She was formerly a member of Centercrest and Hughes Memorial Baptist Churches and recently a member at First Baptist Church, Sylacauga. She was retired from BellSouth as a manager in the customer service/sales department. She was a volunteer in the adult literacy program and area facilitator for Experiencing God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A.R. and Esther Cofer Greene; a sister, Amalee Greene Calvert; and a brother, James Greene.

Survivors include her husband, Durehl E. Graves of Sylacauga; one son, James D. (Ida L.) Graves; one daughter, Debra Graves Green of Sylacauga; and five grandchildren, Michael Early, Candace Graves and Elijah Graves, all of Bradford, and Collin Green and Amy Green, both of Sylacauga.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Permelia Ometta Howard

Funeral services for Permelia Ometta Howard, 81, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Rev. Dr. Bill Burkett officiating, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Howard died Sunday, Jan. 25, at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Dec. 16, 1922, in Cullman County. She was a seamstress and a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Freline Kenny and Mattie Frances Hinkle Livingston; her husband, Robert Lee Howard; and a brother, Roland Freline Kenneth Livingston Jr.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Wayne (Kathy) Howard of Vinemont; a daughter, Bobbie (George Kenneth) Chambers of Cullman; eight grandchildren, Tracey Renee Howard (Israel) Mahathy, Shawna Michelle Howard, Melinda Lee Turner, Kenneth Lance Howard, Scottie Kell (Dawn) Chambers, Toby Dale (Joell) Chambers, Howard Kirk (Sherrie) Chambers and Cary Kip (Dawn) Chambers; 11 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Haley, Lexie, Ariel, Felisha, Brandi, Christina, Ashley, Erin, Eric and Sara; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Debra and Danielle.

Visitation was Monday.

Douglas Glenn Walker

Funeral services for Douglas Glenn Walker, 37, of Columbus, Ohio, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Fred Rivers officiating, with Burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Walker died Saturday, Jan. 24, in Hayden. He was born Aug. 1, 1966, in Birmingham to Billy Joe and Martha Magdaline Earnheart Walker.

Survivors include his parents, Bill and Marty Walker of Hayden; one sister, Janet (Ed) Garlinger of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Barry (Iris) Walker of Vinemont and Bruce (Paula) Walker of Montevallo; and 10 nieces and nephews, Candice Leigh Walker, Audrey Garlinger, Daniel Garlinger, Ellen Walker, Lee Walker, Benjamin Wright, Nicholas Wright, Michal Marie Walker, Mark Walker and Kelsey Walker.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Arden Kaleo Bolte

Memorial services for Arden Kaleo Bolte, 54, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bolte died Sunday, Jan. 25, at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Jan. 20, 1950, to Clarence and Dolly Ann Yomes Simmons. She was a registered nurse.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles Franklin Melear and Peter Silva; and grandparents, Richard and Lillian Simmons, Willard Melear and Elizabeth Yomes.

Survivors include her husband, Micheal Bolte of Cullman; a son, Billy (Paula Bledsoe) Bolte of Cullman; a daughter, Michelle (David) Holland of Cullman; three brothers, John Simmons of California, Ellis Simmons of Georgia and John Rosin of Florida; three sisters, Kanani Simmons of Texas, Maile Czwalina of Pennsylvania and Tula Strifler of California; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

No visitation is planned.

Linda Sue Speegle

Funeral services for Linda Sue Speegle, 57, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Billy Joe Gable officiating, with Burial in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Speegle died Saturday, Jan. 24, at Baptist Medical Center-Montclair in Birmingham. She was born April 4, 1946, to Cecil and Inez Leathers Gable. She was an assistant dietary manager at Cullman Regional Medical Center, Woodland Village Health Care and West Morgan Health Care in her past. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Charles Gable.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie Speegle of Cullman; three sons, Michael (Sherry) Speegle and Marty Speegle, both of Cullman, and Kevin (Monica) Speegle of Valley Grove; a daughter, Kelley (Keith) Haymon of Logan; two sisters, Shirley (Ernest) Shannon of Scottsboro and Joyce Murphree of Cullman; and five grandchildren, Christopher Speegle, Hagen Speegle, Austin Speegle, Emma Speegle and Olivia Speegle.

Visitation was Monday.

Annie M. Burks

Funeral arrangements for Annie M. Burks, 89, of Cullman, are incomplete. Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burks died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004.

James Edward Young

Funeral services for James Edward Young, 73, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Charles York officiating, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Young died Sunday, Jan. 25, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born May 29, 1930, in Lexington, N.C., to Everett Odell and Cora Venetia Smith Young. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and served on the church council committee. He died at church Sunday after leading the dismissal prayer at the altar. He retired after 33 years with General Motors in Doraville, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Young; and a grandson, Jeremy Walraven.

Survivors include his wife, Odell Leipert Young; three daughters, Angela Hardin of Cullman, Marcia Young of Savannah, Ga. and Glenda Jones of Buford, Ga.; a brother, Wilford Odell Young of North Carolina; two sisters, Rebecca Donahoo and Geraldine Warren, both of Georgia; five grandchildren, Travis Boles III, Gary Hardin, Holly Jones, Amy Rion and Susan Hardin; and five great-grandchildren, Hunner Creel, Cheyenne Walraven, Brooke Rion, Brandon Rion and Bailey Jamerson Rion.

Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ludwell 'L.N.' Fullilove

Funeral services for Ludwell "L.N." Fullilove, 88, of Vinemont will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Peck Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Harold Brown and Bobby Collum officiating, with Burial in Center Grove Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fullilove died Sunday, Jan. 25, at his residence. He was born May 27, 1915, in Cullman County to William Freeman and Luvenia Addeline Williams Fullilove. He was a Baptist and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include four sisters, Arrie F. Parrish of Muscle Shoals, Mamie R. Sherrill of Vinemont, Christine (Allan) Triner of Hartselle and Charlotte (William) Hassell of Birmingham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Center Baptist Church, P.O. Box 942, Hartselle, Ala. 35640.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Fullilove, Richard Creel, Leon Singleton, David Bryan, Buddy Clark and Jerry Creel.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Amanda Michelle Bartlett

Funeral services for Amanda Michelle Bartlett, 29, of Addison will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Sardis Baptist Church in Addison, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bartlett died Saturday, Jan. 24, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Echols.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Bartlett of Addison; two daughters, Hannah Bartlett and Hope Bartlett, both of Addison; her parents, Martha and Keith Echols of Addison; two sisters, Kelly Frazier of Addison and Mitzi Quick of Cullman; her grandfather, Lomax Seymore; and her grandmother, Faye White.

Mildred Thomas Cargo

Funeral services for Mildred Thomas Cargo, 94, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Revs. Jimmy Baker and Caroline Cargo Peterson officiating, with Burial in Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville.

Mrs. Cargo died Friday, Jan. 30, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 16, 1909, to J.W. Jim and Elzadie Calvert Thomas. She was retired from Cullman Lingerie Company and was a member of Simcoe Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Cargo; a daughter, Betty Jean Cargo; her parents; a sister, Ola Caldwell; and a brother, Willie B. Thomas.

Survivors include a son, Robert T. (Helen) Cargo of Tuscaloosa; two daughters, Mary Jo (Herbert) Henry of Cullman and Glenda (Bill) Moody of Dothan; three grandchildren, Caroline Cargo (Bernie) Peterson of Paoli, Penn.; Robert T. (Ann) Cargo Jr. of Thailand; and Sharon (John) Redick of Dothan; and five great-grandchildren.

Flowers or donations will be accepted. Please make donations to Simcoe Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today.

Billy Joe Bowerman

Funeral services for Billy Joe Bowerman, 70, of Blountsville will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Austin Creek Baptist Church, Neil Whited, Paul Kelley and Ennis Stone officiating, with Burial in Austin Creek Cemetery.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bowerman died Thursday, Jan. 29, of natural causes at his residence. He was born in Alabama to Reuben and Cena Daily Bowerman. He was a retired welder from Birmingham Trailer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Joe Bowerman; son, Bobby Bowerman; and his parents.

Survivors include a son, Ricky Joe Bowerman; a daughter, Cynthia (Shorty) Head; two grandchildren, Carla Head Washburn and Crystal Head; a great-grandson, Skylar Washburn, all of Blountsville; and two sisters, Ethelene Adcock of Hayden and Rebecca Griffin of Blountsville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Dexter Grady Cobbs

Funeral services for Dexter Grady Cobbs, 87, of Snead will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Gum Pond Primitive Baptist Church, Elder Guy Hunt officiating, with Burial in Hebron Cemetery in Hulaco.

Mr. Cobbs died Friday, Jan. 30, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born March 6, 1916, in Morgan County to Jonathan P. and Savanah Ryan Cobbs. He was a retired technician at Monsanto Chemical Company, where he worked for 23 years. He attended Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church. He and his wife sold homegrown fruits and vegetables around the community.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Edna O. Wood Cobbs; a son, Dennis (Sara) Cobbs of Blakely, Ga.; three daughters, Nellie (Buddy) Rodenberry of Holly Pond, Rehna (Otto) Boesswetter of Cullman and Reba (Danny) Skillman of Altoona; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herbert D. Cobbs of Gum Pond.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
