PAULINE SHEPHARD
CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for Pauline Shephard, 84, will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Threatt officiating. Burial will be in Tallassahatchie Cemetery.
Mrs. Shephard died Dec. 17 at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frazier Shephard.
She was a native of Talladega County. She was certified licensed in cosmetology and owned and operated Shephard’s store in Childersburg. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Missionary Society, Kitchen Committee and the Cheerful Givers.
She is survived by three sons, Geary Shephard, Ben Shephard and Lewis Shephard of Childersburg; three daughters, Janice Shephard of Childersburg, Christine Calhoun of Lanham, Md., and Lois Thompson of Washington DC; one brother, Hugh Swain of Childersburg; seven sisters, Ruby Reynolds, Louise Bennett, Jessie Vines and Bessie Strickland of Gadsden, Earline Hitt of Margaret, Pearline Walker of Columbia and Daisy Hodges of Birmingham; 17 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Madden’s Funeral Service will direct the service.
NATHANIEL BROWN
HEFLIN — Funeral service for Nathaniel Brown, 36, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Brown officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Brown died Dec. 20 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. He was a member of Anointed Deliverance Christian Mission and a member of Trumpetaires. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Candace Brown, and a sister, Christine Sampler.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Brown of Heflin; one daughter, Nina Jones of Heflin; two sons, Darnell Jones and Cedric Brown of Heflin; his parents, Andrew Brown Jr. and Rosa Brown of Heflin; two sisters, Denise Thurman of Bowden, Ga., and Linda Hunter of Alexander City; one brother, Kenneth W. Brown of Heflin; and one grandchild.
The Trumpetaires will be pallbearers.
Anniston Funeral Service will direct the service.

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Marsha Ann McCain, 53, will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. McCain died Dec. 20 at Baptist Medical Center-Montclair in Birmingham. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega, a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church and worked as an LPN at Citizens Hospital until she retired.
She is survived by her husband, Seaborn Fletcher (Sonny) McCain Jr. of Talladega; two daughters, Dawn Michelle McCain Conti and Christy McCain Couch of Talladega; four grandchildren, Lacie McCain, Wes Cleveland, Alex Cleveland and Logan Couch; one sister, Carolyn Horn of Talladega; and one brother, Larry Hurst of Clanton.
Pallbearers will be Greg Patterson, Jason Horn, Bo Hurst, Jim Germany, Nelson Bates and David McKleroy.
Employees of North Star Paramedic Services will be honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.

MILTON, Fla. — Janie Phillips died Dec. 20 in Milton, Fla.

LINCOLN — Funeral service for Billy Leonard Smith Jr., 51, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ronald E. Snyder and the Rev. Dane Davis officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Dec. 20 at his residence. He was a native of Birmingham and had lived in Lincoln for the past five years. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a retired restaurant manager. He had also worked for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Smith of Lincoln; three daughters, Paula Webster and husband Jimmy of Lincoln, Shelia Mitchell and husband Terry of Birmingham and Amy Foust and husband Robert of Columbiana; one son, Kenneth Thompson and wife Sharon of Lincoln; one sister, Donna Worn of Atlanta; one brother, Samuel Smith of Atlanta; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rick Moody, Blake Cook, Steve Burke, Robert Foust, Joseph Skinner, Lonnie Martin, Michael Wade and Kerry Brown.

Mrs. Bowman died Dec. 22 in Birmingham.

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Jerry Clayton Miller, 57, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Talladega Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Charlie Bolt officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Miller died Dec. 22 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair. He was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County and was a member of the Chandler Springs Church of God. He was retired from Talladega Foundry.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Miller of Talladega; two daughters, Cynthia Horn and Angela Reeves of Talladega; two sons, Anthony C. Miller and William E. Miller of Talladega; three sisters, Ruth Borders of Atlanta, Ga., Lola Williams of Talladega and Doris Brown of Douglasville, Ga.; two brothers, Calvin Miller of Columbiana and Lloyd Miller of Talladega; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Johnson, Roger Mattox, Dave Reeves, Dale Reeves, Billy Williams, Roger Williams and Jonathan Mosley.

TALLADEGA — Graveside service for Leona Burgess Partridge, 78, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Pine Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Charlie Bolt and the Rev. John Waites officiating.
Mrs. Partridge died Dec. 23 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, former Talladega Fire Chief Tom Jeff Partridge and a daughter, Gail Partridge Johnson. She was a native of Jefferson County and lived many years in Talladega County. She was a retired textile worker and was a homemaker. She was a member of Cherry Street Church of God.
She is survived by one daughter, Joan Doss of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Doris Willis of Pell City and Pearl Knight of Bessemer; three grandchildren, Jeff Johnson and wife Teresa of Talladega, Susan Curtis and husband Bob of Talladega and Steven Doss of Pensacola, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren, Matt and Wesley Johnson and Cody Burns.
Pallbearers will be Larry Sulivan, Danny Billingsley, Johnny White, Billy Bartlett, Tommy Wright, Tim McCay, Roy Johnson and Mark Johnson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from noon until 2 p.m.

MILTON, Fla. — Graveside service for Janie D. Phillips, 93, was Monday at 10 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery
with Father Jose Manjaly officiating.
Mrs. Phillips died Dec. 20 at her residence. She was a native of Talladega and lived in Milton, Fla., for the past three and a half years. She was a homemaker and a mother and was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Phillips.
She is survived by one son, George Carroll Phillips of Milton, Fla.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Powell of Huntsville and three brothers, John Denton, Arthur Denton and Jack Denton of Talladega.
