William Howard Dover

Funeral services for William Howard Dover, 73, of Blountsville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at Blountsville Funeral Chapel, Cob Hallmark and Willie Earl officiating, with Burial in South Cemetery.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dover died Thursday, Jan. 8, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born in Blount County to Columbus H. and Gussie Mae French Dover. He was a retired welder and a member of Fraternity Lodge No. 145 in Blountsville. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Era Barnes.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Bice Dover of Blountsville; a son, Delaine (Becky) Dover of Boaz; a daughter, Pam (Jerry) Cason of Cullman; two grandchildren, Logan Akins and Jessica Akins, both of Cullman; and a sister, Arnice Head of Winterhaven, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Henry Ferrell, Jim Flowers, Freddie Chamblee, Derrell Head, Jim McCullough and Boyce Foust.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Gray and Bill Amos.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Loye Eugene Hamby

Funeral services for Loye Eugene Hamby, 83, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, Ralph Anderson officiating, with Burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hamby died Saturday, Dec. 10, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Georgia to Curtis and Kathrine Pace Hamby. He was a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Odell Elsie Hamby; one son, Rondal (Joyce) Hamby; one brother, Paul Hamby; one sister, Lottie Mae Fulmer; two granddaughters, Stacy (Chris) Anderson and Kimberly (Andrew) Graves; and two great-grandchildren, Eli Graves and Samantha Graves.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Audie Lucille Herfurth

Funeral services for Audie Lucille Herfurth, 84, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Christ Lutheran Church, Don Strandlund and Scott Arnold officiating, with Burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Herfurth died Saturday, Dec. 10, at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Cherokee County, Alabama, to George and Claudie Holt Ellinburg. She was retired from Belk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Charles Herfurth; her parents; one sister, Jewell Ann McMinn; and two brothers, Sewell Ellinburg and Carl Ellinburg.

Survivors include three sisters, Zula Cobb of Hanceville and Mary Ruth Giles and Jean Waters, both of Texas; one brother, Earl Ellinburg of Florida; 10 nieces; 13 nephews; favorite caregivers, Mike and Mark McMinn, Darcas Fitzgerald and Clark Wilson; a godson, Bryon Kreps of Cullman; and two special church sisters, Elaine Kreps and Dorothea Peinhardt.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ernestine Bagwell

Funeral services for Ernestine Bagwell, 73, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Jim Abbott officiating, with Burial in Memory Gardens.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bagwell died Saturday, Dec. 10, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Tyler, Texas, to Ernest and Ruby Morris Bayless. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odis Bagwell, and her parents.

Survivors include four sons, Dale (Glenda) Bagwell, David (Sandra) Bagwell and Larry (Wendy) Bagwell, all of Cullman, and Lynn Bagwell of Florida; four daughters, Linda (B.C.) Williams and Carolyn (Thomas) Wood, both of Cullman, Frances (Leroy) Paris of Florida and Barbara (Auburn) McCay of Pinson; one brother, Earl Bayless of Tennessee; four sisters, Doris Gatewood, Helen Caughran, Barbara Johnston and Ruby Jean Speegle, all of Tennessee; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jacob Keith Bruni

Funeral services for Jacob Keith Bruni, 5 months, of Morgan City, La., will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City, with Burial in Morgan City Cemetery.

Hargrave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jacob died Thursday, Jan. 8. He was born Aug. 18, 2003, to Hal and Robyn Poole Bruni of Morgan City.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Hazel Sims Poole, Joseph F. Bruni, Rachel O. Bruni, Erion Cushman and Rhonda Cushman.

Survivors include his parents; his grandparents, Joseph F. Bruni Jr., Dana Hardee Bruni, David D. Poole and Dorinda Cushman Poole; his great-grandparents, Marvin Hardee Sr., Virginia B. Hardee and Joseph Bailey Poole; seven aunts and uncles, Denee Bruni Rosasco, Joseph F. Bruni III, Rhonda Bruni Cranford, Shannon Bruni, Jeaneane Poole, Dori Poole and Jay Poole; nine cousins, Randi Nichole Landry, Brock S. Landry, April Cranford LaCoss, Chas Cranford, Nick Rosasco, Marie Rosasco, Ashlyn Bruni, Julia LaCoss and David LaCoss; and godparent Wayne Mills.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ada Lorraine Dyer

Funeral services for Ada Lorraine Dyer, 83, of Cullman, are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by the funeral home.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dyer died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004.

Carlton Wayne Bell Jr.

Funeral services for Carlton Wayne Bell Jr., 28, of Bremen will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Addington Chapel United Methodist Church, the Rev. Tommy Graves officiating, with Burial in Addington Chapel Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bell died Sunday, Jan. 11, in Cullman County. He was born in Cullman County on March 31, 1975, to Carlton Wayne Sr. and Patricia Ann Thorn Bell.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Leanna Ege Bell of Bremen; his father; his mother, Patricia Ann Hollingsworth of Eva; his daughter, Breanna Marie Bell of Georgia; three brothers, Brandon Bell of Georgia and Cody Bell and Quinton Bell, both of Bremen; and his grandmother, Frances Bell of Hanceville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mr. Bell's daughter, Breanna Bell, at America's First Federal Credit Union, 300 4th Ave. SE, Cullman, Ala. 35055.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lila J. Hamilton

Funeral services for Lila J. Hamilton, 90, of Garden City will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Vernon Alvis officiating, with Burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hamilton died Monday, Jan. 12, in Cullman. She was born in Cullman County on March 1, 1913, to Eugene and Martha May Quick.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Elliot of Hanceville and Thelma Johnson of Decatur; two sons, Eugene (Margaret) Hamilton and Ray Hamilton, both of Garden City; a sister, Ilene Richey of Moody; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Wilford Gaither Bice

Funeral services for Wilford Gaither Bice, 88, of Virginia, formerly of the Walter community, were Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Duck River Baptist Church, Joe Easterwood officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bice died Friday, Jan. 9, in Clinchco, Va. He was a member and former deacon at Riverside Baptist Church of Walter.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Loreen; four children, Kay (Danny) Mondrage of Clinchco, Va.; Fay (Ron) Sykes of Birchleaf, Va.; Wilford Dwayne (Georgia) Bice of Taylor, Mich., and Ed (Laura) Bice of Abingdon, Va.; nine grandchildren, Pam McCowan, Steve Mondrage, Brett Sykes, Cyndi Counts, Eric Mondrage, Alex Bice, Raymond Bice, Abigail Bice and Worth Bice; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Wayne Harper, Robert Harper, Sean Easterwood, Dennis McCowan, Brad Counts, Greg Aldridge, Dwight Aldridge and Doug Bates.

Honorary pallbearers were James Harper, Bill Harper, Alton Hunt, Escil Brown, Verbon Doty, J.B. Bice, Wayne Aldridge and the deacons of Riverside Baptist Church.

Marie Duke Watters

Funeral services for Marie Duke Watters, 71, of Falkville will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Revs. Frank Wood and Larry Duke officiating, with Burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Watters died Saturday, Jan. 10, at her residence. She was born July 12, 1932, to James and Lela Eidson Duke. She was a homemaker, a former employee of Loveman's Dept. Store in Birmingham and a member of Panama Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Watters; and a sister, Louise Duke Walker.

Survivors include a son, James D. Watters of Mobile; a brother, Freddie (Vera) Duke of Cullman; a brother-in-law, T.W. Walker of Tuscaloosa; and a sister, Dorothy Duke (F.D.) Folette of Decatur.

Visitation was Monday.

Leon A. Shelnutt

Memorial services for Leon A. Shelnutt, of Arlington, Va., will be at 10 :30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Arlington Funeral Chapel, with interment in Arlington National Cemetery.

Arlington Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shelnutt died Wednesday, Jan. 7. He grew up in Wedowee. He was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired as a senior foreign service officer with assignments in Germany, Hungary and Sri Lanka. Upon his retirement, he worked for the Arlington County School System as an educator until May 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Emily; two children, Steven Shelnutt of Arlington, Va. and Suzanne (Shelnutt) Matonek of Montclair, Va.; and two grandchildren, Bryan and Stephanie Matonek.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Washington and Lee High School Education Fund, 1300 N. Quincy St., Arlington, Va. 22201.

Ada Lorraine Everett Dyer

Memorial services for Ada Lorraine Everett Dyer, 83, of Cullman will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Grace Episcopal Church in Muncie, Ind.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dyer died Sunday, Jan. 11, at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Muncie, Ind. She was a retired saxton for Grace Episcopal Church in Muncie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Edward and Bulah Myrtle Parke Everett; her husband, Kenneth E. Dyer; a son, Norman Paige Rutledge; and two sisters, Donna Mae Carter and Jean Havens.

Survivors include a son, Jeff (Christine) Dyer of Downey, Calif.; a daughter, Kandace Gail Cryer of Muncie, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Rutledge of Cullman; a brother, Franklin Jack Everett of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Florence Boggess of Hooks, Texas; five grandchildren, Bill (Joyce) Rutledge, Nancy (Jerry) Dow, Tracy (Steve) Means, Jeffery Scott Dyer Jr. and Jenifer Dyer; and seven great-grandchildren, Miranda Rutledge, Tyler Rutledge, Megan Rutledge, Alexis Dow, Wesley Dow, Micah Means and Lindsey Dyer.

Gregory Charles Ivey Jr.

Funeral services for Gregory Charles Ivey Jr., 22, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Spirit Life Church of God, the Revs. Troy E. Puckett and Andrew Ball officiating, with Burial in Cooks Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ivey died Monday, Jan. 12, in Birmingham. He was born April 27, 1981. He was a student at the University of Alabama and worked at the Vestavia Library.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alen B. Ivey; and his grandmother, Nell R. Afonso.

Survivors include his parents, Gregory Charles Sr. and Pamela Kathleen Ivey of Cullman; a sister, Adriann Kathleen Ivey of Cullman; his grandmother, JoAnn F. Ivey; and his grandfather, Joseph J. Afonso.

Pallbearers will be Mikee Reed, Billy Guyette, Jonathan Guyette, Shane McDowell, Jonathan Seiglie and John Tidwell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Puckett, Josh Campbell, John Stidam, Josh Ramsey, James Samples and Kevin Trimble.

Memorials may be made in his name at First Commercial Bank, 101 First Ave. NW, Cullman, Ala. 35055.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
