Funeral services for Mary Dama Cunningham Martin, 52, of Addison will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Terry Phillips officiating, with Burial in Central Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Martin died Monday, July 28.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Martin of Addison; three daughters, Heather Smith of Cullman, Jessica Martin and Julie Martin, both of Addison; a sister, Mildred Hess of Lakeland, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Nicole and Tyler Smith.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

John Shirley Heatherly

Funeral services for John Shirley Heatherly, 74, of Bremen will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 at Moss-Service Chapel, with Burial in Johnson Grove Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Heatherly died Wednesday, July 30 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1929 to Oliver and Della Moore Heatherly. He was in the trucking business.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Byron Heatherly; two sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Baker Heatherly; two sons, Rowland (Judy) Heatherly of Leeds and Kelvin (Robin) Heatherly of Bremen; two daughters, Ann (Albert) Heatherly Mayo of Warrior and Donna (Joe) McCluskey of Jasper; a brother, Fulton (Betty) Heatherly of Good Hope; two sisters, Audie Mize Sims of Arab and Wynell (Alver) Hancock of Florence; and six grandchildren, Jamie (Scott) Burnett, Kelsey Heatherly, Brian Hollis, Derek Heatherly, Jonathan McCluskey and Nicholas (Marilyn) Heatherly.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Marco 'Mark' Antonio Martinez

Funeral services for Marco "Mark" Antonio Martinez, 27, of Holly Pond will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Lowery Hill and Mark Jones officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Martinez died in Hayden. He was born Oct. 6, 1975 in El Centro, Calif. He was a service technician for Tire Centers and a member of Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church near Blountsville.

Survivors include his wife, Christy Sams Martinez of Holly Pond; a daughter, Shelby Martinez of Holly Pond; his father, John Martinez of California; his mother and stepfather, Olivia and Larry Bates of Joppa; a brother, John Martinez of Blountsville; and a brother, Billy Bates of Joppa.

Pallbearers will be Ray Dingler, Shane Bryson, John Holt, Barry Smith, James Marchman, Tim Smith and Smokey Underwood.

Sarah L. Smith

Funeral services for Sarah L. Smith, 54, of Blountsville were Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at Blount County Funeral Chapel, Randal Waldrop officiating, with Burial in Antioch Cemetery.

Blount County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith died Monday, July 28 at her residence. She was born in Jefferson County to Lorenzo D. and Annie Mae Ridgeway Yeager. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Sandy Yeager.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Smith of Blountsville; three sons, Anthony (Jennifer) Smith and Jeffery Smith, both of Blountsville, and Tim (Leslie) Smith of Holly Pond; two daughters, Shanna (Derek) King and April Smith, both of Blountsville; and four grandchildren.

Clifford Barnett Sr.

Funeral services for Clifford Barnett Sr., 68, of Cullman will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, John Bishop officiating, with Burial in Etha Baptist Church Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Barnett died Thursday, July 31 at his residence. He was born Feb. 5, 1935 in Cullman County to Josaph "Buck" and Leslie Jane Reed Barnett. He was a surveyor for Champion Paper Company. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by parents.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Buchanan Barnett of Cullman; a son, Clifford Barnett Jr. of Cullman; five daughters, Deborah Morris of Orange County, Fla., Alice Kay Taylor, Milissa Sue (Joey) Phillips and Tracy Jo (Harold) Calvert, all of Cullman, and Sarah (Alford) Janiszewski of Adamsville; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Calvin Jackson Chaney

Funeral services for Calvin Jackson Chaney, 79, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, John Burks officiating, with Burial in Friendship Methodist Cemetery on Panama Road.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chaney died Wednesday, July 30 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born Nov. 25, 1923 in Lawrence County to Fad and Leomie Williams Chaney. He was a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillie Shaw Chaney; two grandsons, Gary Dewayne Brown and Thad Jackson Morrow; a great-grandson, Jonathan Issac Ray Brown; a brother, Dave Talmadge Chaney; and three sisters, Lucy Tanksley, Ester Rogers and Edna Cooper.

Survivors include two sons, James Chaney of Vinemont and Hershel Morrow of Cullman; two daughters, Susie Brown of Vinemont and Jackie (Tim) Phillips of Georgia; two sisters, Lonner Cooper and Maggie Tanksley of Moulton; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pauline 'Polly' Elizabeth Graves

Funeral services for Pauline "Polly" Elizabeth Graves, 72, of Blountsville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Blountsville Funeral Chapel, Bobby Waddle officiating, with Burial in Liberty Hill Cemetery.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Graves died Wednesday, July 30 at Medical Center East Hospital in Birmingham. She was born in Jefferson County to Marvin Howard and Thelma McLaughlin Sanford. She was a hair-stylist and a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Wesley B. Graves of Blountsville; two sons, Richard (Paula) Graves of Florida and David (Sunshine) Beard of Treasure Island, Fla.; two daughters, Wanda Braselton of Jacksonville, Fla. and Corran Parks of Kingsland, Ga.; two sisters, Mattie King of Rusk, Texas and Linda Sanford of Riverside; and special friends, Sharron Coshatt, Shirley Wildermuth, Gimmie Justice, Sybil Parks and Tom Parks; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Richard Graves Jr., Jackie Graves, Tom Parks, Don Graves, Patrick Graves, Andy Graves and Richard Graves Sr.

Matthew James Foust

Funeral services for Matthew James Foust, 20, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at Hanceville Funeral Home, the Rev. Sherman Bailey officiating, with Burial in Duck River Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Foust died Sunday, July 27 in Cullman. He was born in Cullman on Oct. 9, 1982.

Survivors include his father, Kendall (Teresa) Foust of Hanceville; mother, Diane Freeman Howard of Cullman; sister, Amanda (Charlie) Thornton of Welti; stepbrother, Christopher Wilder of Hanceville; stepsister, Michelle Wilder of Hanceville; grandparents, Charles and Nell Clem of Lacey Springs, Roscoe and Vileta Fouse and Javan and Freda Freeman of Cullman; two uncles, Jeff (Janice) Fouse, Neil (Tammy) Foust; and three cousins, Bradley Foust, Dawson Foust and Nathan Foust.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Allen Thelbert Bland

Funeral services for Allen Thelbert Bland, 88, of Hanceville, are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Bethlehem East Missionary Baptist Church, the Revs. Lawrence Normand and Tim Junkin officiating, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bland died Thursday, July 31 at his son's residence. He was born Sept 8, 1914 to Lonnie and Berlie Sloan Bland. He was a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Charlsie Buckard Bland; his son, Kenneth (Jane) Bland of Hanceville; a brother, Don Bland of Birmingham; three sisters, Dean Meeks of Birmingham, Francis Lee of Danville and Dorothy Devine of Birmingham; two grandchildren, Misty Stewart of Hanceville and Derek Bland of Hanceville; and three great-grandchildren, Vincent Stewart, Caleb Stewart and Madison Watson, all of Hanceville.

Pallbearers will be Roy Lee, Bob Vansant, Gary Akin, Don Rowe, Paul Devine and Kenneth Stewart.

Visitation was Friday.

Joan Brokus

Private funeral services for Joan Brokus, 61, of Cullman, will be held by the family.

Mrs. Brokus died Friday, Aug. 1 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 28, 1941. She was a nurse.

Survivors include two sons, Robert (Sandra) Brokus Jr. of Hanceville and Tony (Donna) Brokus of Kentucky; two daughters, Stormy (Matt) Aydelotte of Cullman and Wendy (Frank) Magnuson of Hanceville; three brothers, Michael (Cindy) Wisener, Manuel (Judy) Wisener and Alton (Janice) Wisener; a sister, Dawn (Walter) Cockrell; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Albert Douglas Shelton

Funeral services for Albert Douglas Shelton, 73, of Hanceville are at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003 at Moss-Service Chapel, with Burial in Colony Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shelton died July 29, 2003 at Arrowhead Nursing Center in Jonesboro, Ga. He was born Nov. 26, 1929 to Clark and Pearl Wilson Shelton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a nephew, Kenneth Strong; a niece, Larvonne Strong; three great-nieces, Leticia Frison, Olicia Strong and Janity Strong, all of Jonesboro, Ga.; and two half-brothers, James Shelton and Junior Shelton, both of Detroit, Mich.

Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Monday.

Basil Benny Malin

Funeral services for Basil Benny Malin, 36, are at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Carl Malin officiating, with Burial in Center Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Malin died Friday, Aug. 1 at his residence. He was born Dec. 27, 1966 in Marshall County. He was a machine operator.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Ray Wood.

Survivors include his wife, Jenny Rainey Malin; his parents, Basil and Pam Malin, and Ellen and Albert Duke; three sons, Blake Benjamin (Stacie) Malin, James Gregory Cornelius and Shane (Monica) Stewart; three daughters, Breonna LaShae Malin, Jasmin Rochelle Malin and Amanda Lorean Cornelius; three brothers, David (Candy) Malin, Clayton (Jennifer) Malin and Joel Needham; four sisters, Connie Sue (Dale) Walker, Regina Burden, Anita (Brian) Shaw and Kassie Malin; and a grandson, Trey Alexander Cornelius.

Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hildred Geraldine Campbell

Funeral services for Hildred Geraldine Campbell, 80, of Decatur, are at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003 at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel, Buddy Cagle and Steve Chandler officiating, with Burial in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Campbell died Saturday, Aug. 2 at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 10, 1922 in Cullman to Shelvey and Vessie Bishop Walker. She was a hairdresser and a member of Beltline Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a son, Gerald Campbell of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Sherry (Tom E.) Steadman of Decatur; two brothers, Ernie Walker of Tampa, Fla. and Ray Walker of Birmingham; two sisters, Mell Nix and Jane Rutledge, both of Birmingham; a grandson, Chris Campbell of Seattle, Wash.; and a granddaughter, Jodie Jones of Nashville, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be her nephews and the elders of Beltline Church of Christ.

Visitation is 6 to 9 p. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Abner died Sunday, Aug. 3 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 30, 1947 in Blount County to Arie and Myrtle Murphree Abner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Joan Abner.

Survivors include his wife, Willodean "Monk" Abner of Cullman; a son, Charlie Abner of Cullman; a daughter, Kala Abner of Cullman; three brothers, Dwight Abner, Loyd Abner and Bobby Abner; two sisters, Mary Lucas (Perry) James and Ellen (Bill) Key of Grant; a nephew, Gary Abner; six grandchildren, Natasha and Jessica Mayo, Christopher and Megan Jones, Lee Davis and Erica Hall; three stepsons; and three stepdaughters.
