Georgia Alberta Bonner Turner
NEEDHAM - Funeral services for Georgia Alberta Bonner Turner,
70, were held on Mon., Oct. 31, 2005 at Brightwater United Methodist
Church with Rev. Rebecca Harper and Rev. Doug Chapman officiating.
Interment followed in the Brightwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Turner, daughter of the late Monroe Odell Bonner and Marty
Mae Long Bonner, passed away on Sat., Oct. 28 at Alliance Health
Center in Meridian.
She is survived by one son, David A. Turner (Joyce) of Bonner
Town; one daughter, Shella Richardson (William) of Waynesboro;
four nieces, Debbie Downey, Amy Long, Pattie Kirk, and Becky Carlisle;
seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Hayward Turner.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Turner, Dustin Turner, Daniel Richardson,
Lance McIlwain, Jackie Ray McLaine, and Tommy Jenkins. Honorary
pallbearers were Raymond Gibson, Edward Gibson, E.C. Arrington,
Troy Roberts, Wayne Taylor, Marvin Kirksey, and Cooksey Hutchinson.
Phillips Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Elizabeth Evans Dodd
MOBILE - Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Evans Dodd,
81, were held on Fri., Oct. 28, 2005 at Spring Hill Baptist Church.
Interment followed in the Semmes First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Dodd was born on March 1, 1924 in Bolinger died on Mon.,
Oct. 24th at a Foley hospital.
Mrs. Dodd taught music in Mobile. She helped establish Eichold-Huestis
Medical Museum and served as director for several years.
She was preceded in death by her son, David F. Dodd; parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Evans; a sister, Ruth Evans, and brothers,
Albert Franklin Evans and James Evans.
She is survived by her husband, William R. Dodd of Lillian, AL;
son, William R. (Juanita) Dodd, Jr. of Hartselle, AL; daughter,
Elizabeth Evans Dodd of Pensacola, FL; sister, Jewel (Tom) Cook
of California; grandchildren, Robert William Dodd. John Thomas
Dodd and Christine Elizabeth Dodd; great grandchild, Taylor Rheanne
Dodd.

Gus Tanks
LISMAN - Funeral services for Gus Tanks, 57, were held
on Oct. 17, 2005 at Little Hope Baptist Church with Rev. J.E.
Sheffield officiating. Interment was in the church's cemetery.
Mr. Tanks was born Mar. 17, 1948 to the late M.T. and Mildred
Tanks. He passed away on Mon., Oct. 10th. He served in the U.S.
Army during the Vietname War.
He is survived by three sons, William Lamont Tanks, Gus Tanks,
Jr., and Jonathan Tanks, all of Maryland; three brothers, Manuel
C. Tanks and Larry Tanks both of Chicago, IL and Prentiss Tanks
of New York, NY; two sisters, Mary Lois Saffold of Chicago; and
Beatrice Tanks of New York; one uncle, Harviest (Eddie B.) Rowe
of Lisman; two aunts, Susie Mae Rowe of New York, and Burnett
Bishop of Yantley; a special cousin, Christian Lott; and a host
of nieces, nephew, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded
in death by a sister.
Family and friends of Mr. Tanks served as pallbearers and flower
bearers.
Hayden and Butler Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
George L. Howard
LISMAN - Funeral services for George L. Howard, Jr. 48,
were held on Oct. 22, 2005 at Hayden and Butler Funeral Home with
Pastor Robert Webb, officiating. Interment followed in the Pleasant
Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Howard was born Jan. 28, 1957 to George L. and Clozell Howard,
Sr. He was working for Brown Bottling Company (Pepsi Cola) in
Meridian when he passed away Fri., Oct. 14th.
He is survived by his parents, George and Clozell Howard of Lisman;
one sister, Porcia Gardner, brother-in-law, David Gardner, and
one niece, Ciera Joy Gardner all of New Rochelle, NY; a host of
uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Family and friends of Mr. Howard served as Pallbearers, church
members and friends served as flower bearers.
Hayden & Butler Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
David Edward Akridge
MILLRY - Graveside service for David Edward Akridge were
held on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005 with Rev. Bob Dean, and life-long
friend Ronnie Dearmon officiating. Interment was in Shady Grove
Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Akridge was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy. He died Tues.,
Oct. 18th. He was a native of Washington County and a resident
of Millry.
Mr. Akridge is survived by two sons, Sean Akridge, Tibbie, AL;
Chad Akridge, Las Vegas, NV; mother, Mrs. Lola C. Akridge, Millry;
four sisters, Annise Mitchell, Saraland; Jeanette Dalnodar, Millry;
Betty McCain, Millry; Faye Walker, Semmes. He was preceded in
death by father, Marvin E. Akridge.
Pallbearers were Jamie Anderson, Robbie Anderson, Dennis Johnson,
Stan McCain, Steve McCain, and Joe Whatley.
