Graveside services for Mary Ellen Henderson, 79, of Opelika will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Sandy Creek Baptist Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Hall will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003.
Mrs. Henderson died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003. She was born Monday, Dec. 10, 1923 to Luke and Lavada Bass Henderson.
She is survived by one brother, R.W. Henderson of Columbus, Ga.; one sister, Jewel Morris of Opelika and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Myrtis G. Staples, 58, of Five Points will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Faith Mission Word Alive in Rest Point, Ga. The Rev. Connie Hall will officiate. Burial will follow at Handy Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at The Sweet Home Baptist Church in Five Points.
Mrs. Staples died Jan. 10, 2003, at her residence. She was born Jan. 11, 1944, in Chambers County.
She is survived by one son, Walter Trammell of Columbus, Ga.; four daughters, Tina Trammell of Dothan, Sonya Thomason of Five Points, Terri Fincher and husband Darrien of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Sereda Trammell of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one step son, Staff Sgt. Terrence Staples and wife Clay of Germany; four sisters, Francis Oneal and husband Shane of Atwater, Ga., Virginia Evans and husband Bill of Indianapolis, Ind., Ouida Peay of Five Points and Annie Hearn and husband Roy of Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers, Theodore Griffin Jr. and wife Betty of Five Points and M. Marvin Griffin and wife Helen of Houston, Texas; 14 grandchildren and a dear friend, Lucille Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Master Sgt. Wayne Staples.

Viola "Sally" Hadden

Funeral services for Viola "Sally" Hadden, 80, of Sharon Grove, Ky., will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Latham Funeral Home. The Rev. Glen Harper will officiate. Burial will follow at Gant Cemetery
in Sharon Grove. Visitation was after 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003.
Mrs. Hadden died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville after an illness. She was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Todd County to Herman and Minnie Boley Driskill. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Vernon General Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Smith of Alexander City, Sue Griffin of Sharon Grove, Ky., and Kathleen Hadden of the home; one grandson, Wayne Smith and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hadden in 1994, and her parents.

Funeral mass for Jo Ann Wiemers Steele of Slidell, La. was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell, La. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Steele died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at her home from cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Luke Steele; her parents, Charles and Mary Wiemers of Arabi, La., and her in-law, Don and Mary Downes of Jackson's Gap and Ronald and Jean Steele of Nauvoo.

Irene McDaniel Prince

Funeral services for Irene McDaniel Prince, 90, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Radney's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ronnie Lightsey will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation was from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2003.
Mrs. Prince died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Chapman Healthcare Center. She was born Nov. 4, 1912, in Clay County to James Albert McDaniel and Ada Belle Bryant McDaniel. She worked as a warp hand for Avondale for more than 45 years.
She is survived by her three daughters, Patsy Welcher, Peggy Walker and husband, Billy and Virginia McCrary and husband John Wayne, all of Alexander City; one sister, Mayo Williams of Alexander City; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Charles Cliffton Scott

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Cliffton Scott, 58, of Alexander City will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at Flint Hill United Methodist Church. Revs. Ron Gonia and Jason Scott will officiate. Burial will follow at Alexander City Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003.
Mr. Scott died on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at his residence. He was born on July 15, 1944, in Lanett, to Robert M. Scott and Lois M. Reese Scott. He was a member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church, a little league coach and co-founder of Toys for Tots.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Jordan Scott of Alexander City; two sons, John Cliffton Scott and Jordon Reese Scott, both of Alexander City; one daughter, Katheryn Elizabeth Scott of Jacksonville; two brothers, Jerry W. Scott and Robert D. Scott, both of AlexAnder City; and three sisters, Jeanette Simpson and Wynette Ray, both of Alexander City and Shirley Wall of Montgomery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert M. Scott and Lois Reese Scott and his daughter, Anna Scott.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Children's Harbor, American Cancer Society, Camp ASCCA, Flint Hill United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church or Faith Home Care Hospice.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sandra Underkofler, 57, of Alexander City will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. The Rev. Tommy Jacobs will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2003.
Mr.s. Underkofler died Jan. 31, 2003, after a lengthy illness. She was born May 6, 1945, in Talladega to Edward C. Mabrey and Christine Murner Correia.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Underkofler of Alexander City; her mother Chris Correia of Alexander City; four children, Michael Turturice of Alexander City, Angie Turturice of Marysville, Wash., Dale Underkofler of Concord, Calif., and Lisa Underkofler of Los Angeles; two granddaughters, Alecia Turturice of Marysville, Wash., and Kayla Underkofler of Concord, Calif.; two brothers, Charles Mabrey of Mumford and Chuck Haynes of Richmond, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Mabrey and brother, Michael Mabrey.
