Earnest Earl Edmond

The funeral service for Earnest Earl Edmond of Gainestown was Jan. 17 in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was in the Good Hope A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Gainestown.

Mr. Edmond, 57, of Gainestown, died Jan. 10, 2007 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital.

He is survived by three sisters, Mary Autrey and Jacqueline Kendrick, both of Prichard and Christine Spencer of Gainestown; two brothers, Richard Edmond of Eight Mile and John Edmond of Prichard.

Edn'Drika Cherrice Henderson

Edn'Drika Cherrice Henderson, 16, a resident of Jackson, died Jan. 12, 2007 at Jackson Medical Center. She was an 11th grade student at Jackson High School and a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and the Student Government Association. A member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church and the choir, she served as the president of the Junior Usher Board, vice president of the Red Circle and president-elect of the youth department.

She is survived by her parents, Erika and Timothy Abston of Jackson; Daryl Henderson of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Kha'dijiha Abston of Jackson, Lazetta Williams and Sharde Williams, both of Birmingham and Bria Henderson of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Cedric Williams of Birmingham; grandparents, Christine Green of Jackson, Miss., Elder Georgia P. Nash of Choctaw Bluff and Sally and Adrian Martin of Toddtown; great-grandmothers, Abbie Nash of Choctaw Bluff and Alma Cox of Toddtown.

The funeral service was Jan. 18, 11 a.m. at Pine Chapel Baptist Church No. 2 in Toddtown. Burial was in the church cemetery with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Thelma Diane Rocker Perine

Thelma Diane Rocker Perine will be buried in the Darrington Cemetery in Choctaw Bluff following a funeral service Saturday, Jan. 27, at the New Canaan Baptist Church in Choctaw Bluff. Ms. Perine died Jan. 19, 2007, she was 50 years old. Employed with the Clarke County Board of Education as a substitute teacher, she was also a member of the New Canaan Baptist Church, served on the usher board and was a member of the Pastor Aide.

She is survived by her husband, John Curtis Perine Sr. of Jackson; son John (Connie) Curtis Perine Jr. of Jackson; mother Velma Rocker of Jackson; three sisters, Bettey (Terry) Lewis of Birmingham, Willie (Lennie) Rocker of New York, N.Y., Linda (Lee) Perine of Mobile; three brothers, Fred Rocker and Walter W. Rocker both of Mobile, and Steve (Sandra) Rocker of Tucson, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

Public viewing will be conducted on Friday, Jan. 26, 1 - 6 p.m., in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 27, 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. at the New Canaan Baptist Church.

Tracy Coffman Sr.

Graveside services for Tracy Coffman Sr., 89, were held Jan. 13, 2007 at Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson, Tenn. A military funeral was observed. Mr. Coffman died Jan. 11, 2007 at Forest Cove Nursing Home. He was born in Henderson County, Tenn, son of the late Victor and Vera Jordan Coffman. He served in the South Pacific in World War II in the Army Air Corps and was a retired employee of a local aluminum plant. He was a longtime member of Malesus Methodist Church.

Survivors included his wife of 62 years, Hazel Coffman; four sons, Dr. Martin Coffman of Leroy and Jackson; Wayne Coffman of Nashville, Tenn., Bobby Coffman of Pinson, Tenn., and Edward Coffman of Jackson, Tenn., a sister, Christine Davis of Atlanta Ga., and a brother, Gilbert Coffman of Lexington, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Coffman was a well-known outdoorsman and hound trainer. He was active in the VFW and his local church. The family asked that memorials be sent to Malesus Methodist Church in Jackson, Tenn.

Viola Marie Cone

The graveside service for Viola Marie Cone, 80, was Jan. 28 at Magnolia Cemetery in Greenville with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

A native of Louisiana and a resident of Jackson, she died Jan. 27, 2007 at a local health care facility. She was a homemaker and member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her brother, Pete Presnall of Whatley; four nieces, Darlene Arnold, Beverly Wilson and Michelle Smith, all of Jackson and Terrie Foster of Fairhope; two nephews, Rickey Bryant of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. and David Bryant of Mobile.

Larry Wayne Danley

Larry Wayne Danley, 56, a resident of Grove Hill, died Jan. 23, 2007 at his home. A disabled construction worker with Brown and Root Construction, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietname War. He was a member of Grove Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Danley of Grove Hill; three daughters, Elaine Childers of Haleyville, Paula Beasley of Daphne and Jennifer Danley of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Tyler Danley of Pleasant View, Tenn. and Sherman Danley of Pascagoula, Miss. and four grandchildren.

The funeral service was at Grove Hill Baptist Church with Dr. James Bess and the Rev. Q.T. Curtis officiating. Interment was in Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Wesley Jones

Wesley Jones, a member of Springhill Baptist Church, died Jan. 30, 2007 in a local hospital at the age of 90. He was a native of Washington County and a resident of Chatom. Aretired employee at Ciba Corp. in McIntosh, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Bell Taylor of Chatom; caretaker and special friend, Pearlie Mae Manuel of Chatom; seven step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was Jan. 31 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with the Rev. Kenneth Henson officiating. Interment was in the Jones-Beech Cemetery in Hobson.

Pallbearers were L.V. Goldman, Joe Ed Goldman, Gerald Everett, Robert "Bobby" Jones, Norvelle Jones and Martin Pierson.

Honorary pallbearers were Bob Jenkins, Gerald Taylor, Paul Morris, James Gilley, Bodie Carpenter and Wilson Turner.

Joseph Payne Lindsey Sr.

Joseph Payne Lindsey Sr., 85, of Grove Hill, died at his home on Jan. 25, 2007. He was a 1939 graduate of Clarke County High School and a member of Horeb Baptist Church in Whatley where he served as a deacon. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II in the Philippines and Guam in the 662nd Engineering Equipment Company. A longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Master Mason in good standing at the Olive Lodge No. 334, he was an insurance agent and associate sales manager for Liberty National Life Insurance Company. He retired from the Jackson district after 26 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Billie Jean Spidle Lindsey, his parents, Joseph Duke and Dula Alice Payne Lindsey and brother, Gayle Lindsey.

He is survived by his four children, Linda (Eddie) Slayton and Joe (Rachel) Lindsey Jr., all of Grove Hill, Sherie (Danny) Martin of Florence and Spidle (Sara) Lindsey of Gulf Shores; two brothers, Royce Lindsey and David Lindsey, both of Whatley; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was Jan. 28 at Horeb Baptist Church in Whatley with Doug Williams officiating. Eulogies were given by Scott Slayton and Lindsey Martin, both grandchildren of Mr. Lindsey. Burial was in the Whatley Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill directing.

Pallbearers were Nelson Beech, Irwin Cooper, Butch Dees, Darryl Drinkard, Mickey Lindsey, William McConnell, Dan Norris and Johnny Reid.

Honorary pallbearers were Aubrey Beech, Hollis Cooper Jr., Reg Cooper, Ed Ford, Robert Edward Garrick, Peter Gregory, Perry Hartley, Eddie Lindsey, Gene Parker and Thomas Rew.

Helen D. Touchstone

Helen D. Touchstone, a native of McIntosh and a resident of Heidelberg, Miss., died Jan. 26, 2007 at a local health care facility at the age of 86. A former member of McIntosh United Methodist Church, she was a retired bookkeeper for Holt and Anniston CPA.

Survivors include two brothers, Mayor Carrol Daugherty of McIntosh and Gerald (Faye) Daugherty of Valdosta, Ga.; five sisters, Ruth Everette and Velma Patrick, both of McIntosh, Bernice Rocray of Cape Cod, Mass., Betty Milstead of Jackson and Bonnie McGee of College Station, Texas; three nephews, John Touchstone of Mobile and Joe Touchstone and Mike Touchstone, both of Beaver Dam, Miss.; devoted niece, Berle Brownlee of Soso, Miss. and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson on Jan. 29 with Pastor Molly Fulford officiating. Interment was in the McIntosh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chris Daugherty, John L. Touchstone Jr., Fred Rogers, Terry Everette, Preston Cook and Mike Patrick.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Touchstone, Beryl Brownlee, Julius Brashier and Mike Touchstone.

Marshall Ray Williams

Marshall Ray Williams, 63, died Jan. 19, 2007 at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro, Miss. He was a native of Laurel, Miss. and a resident of Millry.

Survivors include his fiancé, Viola Morris of Millry; nephew, Neeley (Benita) Williams of Millry; great nephews, Austin Williams, Joshua Walker, Dustin Williams and Brandon Williams, of Millry. He was preceded in death by his sister, Retha Williams and parents, Annie and Emory Williams.

The funeral service was Jan. 22 at Sandridge Church of God in Millry with the Rev. Ronald Hobby and the Rev. Reggie Manning officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Chatom.
