Archie Bishop Jr.

Archie Bishop Jr., 72, a native of Mobile and a resident of Chatom, died April 30, 2007 at his home. He was a member of the Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Chatom where he served as a deacon and an usher.

He served in the United States Army and was retired from the transportation department of Exceptional Children, Inc. in Chatom.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Lockhart Bishop of Chatom; son, Tony Bishop of California; daughter, Mary (Renard) Camel of Jackson; two stepsons, James Franks of Chatom and Jonathan (Francis) Franks of Spencer, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Evelyn (Earnest) Moore of St. Stephens and Ella M. Woodard of East Pointe, Mich.; sister, Berniece Blames of Asbury Park, N.J.; two brothers, Curtis J. (Marquida) Bishop of Vinegar Bend and Billie C. (Earlie M.) Bishop of Lisman; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be (today) May 3, 11 a.m. at the Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Chatom with pastor, the Rev. Edward Ruffins officiating. Viewing will be at 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery on Hwy. 56 in Chatom with Andrews Funeral Home directing.

Linder Dixon Moon

Services for Linder Dixon Moon were April 24, 2007 at Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl White officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Moon, 56, a resident of Meridian, Miss., died April 21, 2007 at Rush Foundation Hospital. Employed with Highland Baptist Church Child Development Center, she was a dedicated teacher and a member of the Highland Baptist Church in Meridian.

Survivors include her husband, Rodney Moon of Meridian; daughter, Rhonda (Jeff) Forbes of Brandon, Miss.; son, Jonathan (Abby Crane) Moon of Starkville, Miss.; parents, T.C. and Eulene Dixon of Thomasville; sister, Patricia Dixon of Jackson; brother, Roger (Mary) Dixon of Tuscaloosa; mother-in-law, Dixie Moon of Meridian, and grandchildren, Madilyn, Dane and Laken Forbes and Merrit Moon. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Julius Moon.

Memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church Child Development Center.

Pallbearers were Jonathan Moon, Jeff Forbes, Jason Moon, Roger Dixon, Roman Dixon and Buck Jones.

Richard Anthony Jackson

Richard "Rick" Anthony Jackson, 41, a native of Jackson and resident of Detroit, Mich. died May 9, 2007 at Huron Valley Sinai Hospital in Commerce Township, Mich. He attended The Original Church of God in Detroit. Mr. Jackson recently had received the employee of the month at Autumn Nursing Home, Lavonia, Mich. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Jean Leggette Jackson.

Survivors include his father, Minister Elisha Jackson Jr. of Jackson; grandmother, Elizabeth Jackson of Daphne; a fiancé, Chanda Johnson of Detroit; two sons, Richard Jackson and Kenneth Jackson, both of Detroit; two daughters, Alyssa Jackson and Kimmy Jackson, both of Detroit; a sister, Joyce (Willie) Horn of Detroit; a brother, Tracy (Sarita) Jackson of Jackson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a great-nephew, all of Detroit.

Services will be conducted May 17 (Today), 12 noon, at Mt. Olive No. 1 Baptist Church in the Rockville community of Jackson with the Rev. Kevin Jackson, pastor and eulogist. Viewing will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Andrews Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be uncles, cousins and friends, with flower bearers to be aunts, cousins and friends.

Lela Dell Ezell Robinson

Lela Dell Ezell Robinson, a member of First Baptist Church of Whatley, the Russell Success Chapter 674 and the Order of the Eastern Star, died May 10, 2007 at Jackson Health Care Facility in Jackson at the age of 80. She was a native of Whatley and a resident of Jackson. Ms. Robinson was preceded in death by her husband, Strawder Robinson and two brothers, Maxine Ezell and L.J. Ezell.

Surviving Ms. Robinson are a devoted nephew whom she raised as a son, Henry Clay Horn of Mobile; four sisters, Kimberly (Kenneth) Smith of Grove Hill, Tonya Ezell and Brenda (Henry Earl) Horn, both of Whatley, and Linda (Charles) Jones of Mobile; three stepsisters, Doris (Felton) Harris of Whatley, Elaine (Joseph) Taylor of Augusta, Ga. and Marie (Pat) Quinn of Toledo, Ohio; three brothers, John Dennis (Katie) Ezell of Grove Hill, Eddie Dean (Alania) Ezell of Minneapolis, Minn. and Jackie (Kimberly) Ezell of Toledo; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 18, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Whatley with the Rev. Fernell Pendleton, pastor and eulogist. Viewing will be Thursday (Today) from 6-8 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home. A second viewing will be held Friday after the eulogy. Interment will be at Orange Hill Cemetery.

Frank Pearson

Frank Pearson, 73, son of the late Jerry and Hattie Pearson Jr., died May 5, 2007. Services were conducted May 10 at the New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of San Antonio, Texas, with Pastor J. Carlton Allen officiating. Mr. Pearson was a native of Choctaw County and a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Air Force as well as being a civil servant receiving numerous citations and awards. As a member of the New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church he served with the Men's Ministry, Usher Ministry, Pastor's Aid, Men's Chorus, Church School Class No. 1 and the Bus Ministry. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Louise Ezell Pearson.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn (Fannie) Pearson of St. Stephens and Sgt. 1st Class Anthony Pearson currently serving in Iraq; two daughters, Terry (Florian) Martin of Mobile, Michelle Denise Pearson of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters, Elizabeth (Tommy) Jackson of Jackson, Elmira (Lencie) Bonner, Geraldine (Theodore) Henderson and Barbara Pearson, all of Toxey; two brothers, Woodrow Pearson of Toxey and the Rev. Jack (Jackee) Pearson of Silas; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Active pallbearers were Johnny Ezell, Eugene Autry, Calvin Times and Rodney Autry. Honorary pallbearers were the Men's Ministry and Usher Ministry.

Arrangements were directed by Sutton-Sutton Mortuary, Inc. of San Antonio. Burial was in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Information for this obituary was submitted by Andrews Funeral Home.

Mary Lou Brown

Mary Lou Brown, 69, a resident of Grove Hill, died May 11, 2007 at her residence. She was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church of Grove Hill.

She is survived by six daughters, Patricia Brown, Gloria Brown, Angela Brown, Linda Brown, Brandi Brown and Debra Brown, all of Grove Hill; seven sons, Robert Malone Jr. of Jackson, James Brown, Leon Brown Jr., Jerome Brown, Sylvester Brown, Joe Cecil Brown and Tony Brown, all of Grove Hill; sister, Lula Bell Malone of Whatley; brother, Robert Malone Sr. of Selma; 32 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be conducted Saturday, May 19 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church of Grove Hill with interment in the church cemetery.

Anna Sue Manley-Sikes

Anna Sue Manley-Sikes, 68, died May 2, 2007. She was a native of Harrison, Ark., a resident of Ogden, Utah and retired from the retail business. She was preceded in death by parents Mr. and Mrs. Harold Otto Manley, brother Bill Manley, twin sister Elsa Lou Collier and granddaughter Alyssa Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Robert (Cindy) Sikes of Ogden and Matthew Sikes of St. Stephens; daughter, Pamela (John) Smith of Jackson; a sister, Patricia Albert of San Jose, Calif.; brother, Johnny Manley; and seven grandchildren, Michelle, Jason, Lindsey, Annamaria, Patrick, Tara and Nicholas.

Funeral services were conducted in Ogden on May 7 with Robert Sikes officiating and directed by Aaron's Mortuary & Crematory of Ogden.

Charles Arnold Campbell

Charles Arnold Campbell, 71, a resident of Dothan and native of Clarke County, died May 8, 2007 at a family residence. He was a retired truck driver with the state highway department.

Survivors include a son, Charles Wayne Campbell of Dothan; daughter, Karen Leah Campbell of Grove Hill; three brothers, Gerald Campbell and James Campbell, both of Grove Hill and Benny Campbell of Columbia, Tenn. and a sister, Edna Tarleton of Grove Hill.

The funeral service was May 10 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill. Burial was at a private graveside service in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Robert Coleman Glover Jr.

Robert Coleman Glover Jr., a self-employed HVAC contractor and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps where he served in the Korean Conflict, died May 8, 2007 in his home at the age of 77. He was a native of Birmingham and a resident of Grove Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Glover of Grove Hill; daughter, Donna Blankenship of Grove Hill; half sister, Frances Harris of Hoover; two grandsons, Steven Shaner of Pine Bluff, Ariz. and Wesley Shaner of Chattanooga, Tenn. and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was May 11 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill. Interment was in Jones Chapel Cemetery in Coffeeville.

Virginia Kearley

Virginia Kearley, a native of Coffeeville and a resident of Grove Hill died May 14, 2007 at the age of 81 at a local health care facility. She was a member of Tompkins Baptist Church and a retired seamstress for A.J. Satin Company.

She is survived by husband, James Kearley of Grove Hill; two sons, Terry (Nancy) Kearley of Livingston and Larry (Ida) Kearley of Grove Hill; sister, Winnie Lou McLendon of Montgomery; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted May 16 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home with interment at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill.

Pallbearers included Lee Kearley, Robbie Kearley, Toby Kearley, Patrick Kearley, Jay Kearley, Lonnie Stone, Jesse Stone and Jeff McKenzie.
