Henry Glenn Johnson

Henry Glenn “Buddy” Johnson, 74, a resident of Wetumpka, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 4 at Santuck Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Connie Johnson, mother, Glennie Johnson, sons, Daniel (Sharon) Johnson, Jim (Laura) Johnson, daughter, Jan (Charlie) Dismukes, brother, Fred (Jeanette) Johnson, stepsons, Jason (Michelle) McGinty, Kendal (Garris) McGinty, stepdaughter, Tonya (Ken) Martin, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Rick Johnson, Clay Johnson, Wes Prater, Zach Frith, Jason McGinty, Kendal McGinty.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Puckett, Rod Rodie, J.C. Hamilton, Jon Payne, Ben Dismukes, Seth Redden and Jacob McGinty.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 3 at Gassett Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111 or www.cancer.org or call 1-800-227-2345.

Harmon Ray Grier

WETUMPKA — Mr. Harmon Ray “Pappy” Grier Sr., 81, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at his residence in Wetumpka after an extended illness.

He was a retired senior master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and Electrical Engineer with Jenkins Brick Company.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Aug. 30 at New Home Missionary Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. The Rev. Rory McQueen officiated. Burial followed in New Home Cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home directing. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances Grier; sons, Harmon Ray (Nancy) Grier Jr., and Frank O’Neal (Tricia) Grier; brother, Robert Wayne Grier; grandchildren, Neal Grier and Nicole Grier, and a great grandson, Nick Grier.

Flowers are accepted or make donations to your favorite charity.

Rebecca Boddie Hall

Rebecca Boddie Hall, a native of Elmore County, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011 in DeSoto County, Miss., at the age of 74.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 18 at Gassett Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 19 at Frazer Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. Neil Epler and Dr. Cecil Etheredge officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Methodist Church Cemetery in Titus with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.

Rebecca is survived by her son, Douglas Hall Jr.; daughter, Susan Hall (Andy) Peterson; brother, Joe Boddie; sisters, Odessa Holt and Kathleen Holt; grandchildren, Mary Margaret (Greg) Bryon; Bryan Connor Hall, Anna Rebecca Peterson, and William Everett Peterson.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Lee Hall and her parents, Homer Lee Boddie and Rose Pauline Colley Boddie.

Pallbearers will be Frank Garcia, Kenny Holt, Michael Holt, Max Gantt, Joe Boddie and Doug Bush.

Rebecca was an ardent community volunteer, who served on the Yazoo (Miss.) City School Board and as president of King’s Daughters Auxiliary in Yazoo City. She was a member of Frazer Methodist Church and president of the single seniors Sunday school class at Frazer.

As a member of the Elmore County Historical Society, she served as membership chair. Rebecca was recently retired from the State of Alabama Finance Department.

Rebecca’s greatest accomplishment was the loving way in which she devoted herself to her children and her family.

Kimberly Nolen Price

Funeral services for Kimberly Nolen Price, 57, of Alexander City will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Alexander City.

Following the service, the family will receive guests in the fellowship hall for a celebration of life reception.

Price, owner and president of Price Publications Inc., was born on Sept. 12, 1954, in Alexander City. He died at home Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, following a short illness.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Valentine Price; three sons, Matthew Nolen Price and Griffin Thomas Price of Birmingham and Timothy Chase Clanton of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Whitney Nicole Clanton of Glen Ellen, Calif.; his mother, Charlene Sumners Price of Decatur; a sister, Cynthia Price Brown and husband Randy of Decatur; a brother, Timothy Lee Price of Alexander City; one nephew, three nieces, one great-nephew and three great-nieces.

Kim was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Nolen Price.

Price, a veteran newsman, was president and publisher of The Wetumpka Herald, which was purchased by PPI in May 2003. Under his guidance, a second weekly edition of the Herald - The Elmore County Weekend - was added in December 2005.

A 1972 graduate of Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, he graduated from The University of Alabama in 1976.

He began his journalism career while still in high school, working for The Alexander City Outlook. Price worked for the Associated Press from 1978-1990 as a newsman, legislative correspondent and marketing executive in Birmingham, Omaha, Boise and Dallas.

From 1990-2001 he was president, publisher and editor of The Shelby County Reporter in Columbiana, Ala. He was president, publisher and editor of The Alexander City Outlook from 2001-2003, immediately before purchasing The Herald.

PPI acquired The Eclectic Observer in January 2006 and The Tallassee Tribune in June 2009. Other publications of the company include Covey Rise magazine (2002), Gallery of Homes real estate magazine (2008) and Elmore County Living magazine (2008).

During his career, Price was involved in numerous professional and civic groups. He was past chairman and president of the Alabama Press Association and won numerous press association awards.

Price was also very active in environmental and wildlife efforts. In 2005, he was awarded the Conservation Communicator of the Year Award by the Alabama Wildlife Federation. In 2010, he was named one of the 25 Most Influential People in Hunting and Fishing by Outdoor Life.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Phillip Young, Tommy Spraggins, Tommy Rogers, Randy Haynes, Jim Nabors, Tom Young, Kim Taylor, Jerry Adams, Rusty Cook and Bobby Martin.

Honored colleagues are Price Publications employees, Pheasants Forever/ Quail Forever National Board of Directors, Alabama Covey Rise Chapter of Quail Forever.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Children’s Harbor or Alabama Covey Rise Chapter of Quail Forever (9604 Highway 63 South, Alexander City, AL, 35010).

William Franklin Todd

Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. William Franklin Todd, born Jan. 27, 1940, a resident of Marbury, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at the age of 72.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 at Shoal Creek Cemetery in Deatsville.

Mr. Todd is survived by his sons, Steven M. Todd and John A. Todd; daughters, Cindy A. Light and Susan M. Chase; brother, Edwin Todd; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Honorary pallbearers are James Todd, Norman Todd, Richard Todd, Don Yarbrough, Terry Todd and Buddy Todd.
