Bubba Hill
Bubba Hill, 45, a resident of Titus, passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 12 at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Joel Glenn officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Sherri Hill; mother and step-father, Lorine and Eric Howell; two sons, Michael and Brandon Hill; one daughter, Stephanie Hill; sisters, Christy Thrasher and Vivian Grace Garner; brothers, Daniel Ott, Eric Eugene Howell, Jr., and William Alonzo Howell.
Visitation will be held at 5-8 p.m. Aug. 11 at Gassett Funeral Home.
Mr. Hill will lie in state one hour prior to service time at Faith Baptist Church.
Lillian Boyer
WETUMPKA — Lillian “Viola” Boyer, 91, a resident of Wetumpka, passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 4 at Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl W. Reed Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hebron West Baptist/Davis Annex Cemetery
with Ellison Funeral Home directing.
Survivors are one daughter, Charlene Marie (Rev. Carl W. Jr.) Reed of Wetumpka; three grandchildren Lucas Boyer Williams of Nashville, Tenn., Kyle Wesley Reed of Wetumpka and Ashleigh Paige Reed of Wetumpka.
Visitation will be Thursday, 9:30-11 a.m. Aug. 4 at Ellison Funeral Home.
Shannon Riddle
Shannon Riddle, 32, a resident of Tallassee, passed away June 25, 2011. He was born July 19, 1978.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Linville Memorial Funeral Home.
He is survived by his father and momma, James and Denene Riddle; daughter, Amanda Riddle; son, Caleb Riddle; special friend, Amy Haley; sisters, Angie Riddle, Tina Andrews Riddle and Allison Zeigler; brothers, Bo Riddle, Tyler Pritchett and Sam Pritchett; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sheila Mills Riddle; nephew, Dalton Grier; grandparents, Buddy and Pat Riddle and mimi and pappy, Jimmie and Roger Beauregard.
Frances McCoy Porter
TALLASSEE — Frances McCoy Porter, 64, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at her residence in Tallassee.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at Gassett Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Watson Chapel Cemetery.
She is survived by her son Chavis Allen Porter; daughter, Claudia Darlene Hill; brother, Thomas McCoy; sister, Joanne Williams; four grandchildren Shanda, Mary Lauren, J.W., Gus; four great grandchildren Isabella, Austin, Natallie and Brantley.
Pallbearers were Tim Walls, Chris Smith, Buford Strength, Stanley Walls, Tim Holley, Coby Griffith. Honorary pallbearers were J.W. Hill and Gus Hill.
Visitation was 4-6 p.m. Oct. 16 at Gassett Funeral Home.
Barbara Ruth Owens Freeney
SODDY DAISY, Tenn. — Barbara Ruth Owens Freeney, 80, a resident of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, having recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with her loving husband Bill.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Tenn., she attended Central High School.
Barbara was previously employed by Cutter Laboratories and Woodbridge Foam Fabricating.
She was a member of Dallas Bay Baptist Church and the Koinonia Sunday School Class.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Horace and Clara Owens, and her granddaughter, Angela Michelle Cox.
Sadly missed by her family and friends, she is survived by her husband, the Rev. Bill Freeney; her children, Carolyn (Don) Johnson of Hixson, Tenn., Donna (Kenny) Davis of Wetumpka and Jim (Flavia) Freeney of Deatsville; sister, Ann O. (Dan) Taylor of Hixson, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at at 1 p.m. Jan. 18 at Dallas Bay Baptist Church in Hixson, Tenn., Dr. Ken Duggan and Dr. David McNabb officiating and the north chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers and Koinonia Class as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Jan. 17 at the north chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Pat E. Smith
Mrs. Pat E. Smith, 92, passed away at her residence in Deatsville on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 23 at the Gassett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Bozeman officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Gassett Funeral Home directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Smith; son Winston Smith; daughters Lucille Heto and Erline Williams.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Faye (and the late Billy Eugene) McQueen of Deatsville; son-in-laws Arthur Hetu and James Williams; seven grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 22 at Gassett Funeral Home.
Edna Ruth Harris Little
ALEXANDER CITY — Mrs. Edna Ruth Harris Little, 88, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Bill Nichols Veteran’s Home in Alexander City.
Mrs. Little spent her life helping others as a registered nurse, and also served her country as a nurse in the U.S. Navy.
Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Oct. 13 followed by funeral services at 4 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Carter officiating and Gassett Funeral Home directing.
Private burial will follow at a later date in Montgomery Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by her nephew, James “Jimmy” G. Harris and great nephew Andrew G (Tiffany) Harris.
