Izora Holcombe May
Izora Holcombe May, a native of Koenton and a resident of Chatom, died July 23, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital in Chatom. Born to George Holcombe and Mamie Mitchell Holcombe, she was 97 years of age at her death. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Jackson.
She is survived by a son, James (Bessie) May of Uniontown; four daughters, Lodis Ceil (Willie O.) Johnson of Chatom, Mary Ann (Johnny) Flowers of Uniontown, Zora L. (Sterling) McIntyre and Jeanetta Humphrey, both of Birmingham; two sisters, Claudia Donaldson of Chatom and Olivett Bowe of Hollywood, Fla.; 36 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 27, 1 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, Highway 43, Jackson. Viewing will be today, July 26, 2-7 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home. Asecond viewing will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1 p.m. Burial will be in Easy Hill Cemetery
in Koenton. Arrangements are directed by Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson.
Carl Eugene Davis Jr.
Carl Eugene Davis Jr., died July 21, 2007 at the age of 74. He was a native of Marion and a resident of St. Stephens. Davis was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Ford Motor Company of Hegewisch, Ill.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie Davis of St. Stephens; three sons, Ron (Kim) Ziegler of Millry, Randy (Francis) Ziegler and Timmy (Samantha) Ziegler both of Edmonton, Ky.; daughter, Jolene Davis of St. Stephens; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were July 24 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Millry with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Alvin Tucker and Bro. Billy Kendricks officiated with St. Stephens Funeral Home of St. Stephens directing. Pallbearers were Roland Sanderson, Curtis Sanderson, Ronald Ziegler, Robert Miller, Mac Hollingshead and Kevin Hollingshead.
Eric J. Brown
Eric J. Brown, 24, died July 21, 2007 at his home. Funeral services are today, July 26, 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville. Jim Poss will be officiating. Interment is at Liberty Hill Cemetery
in Phil Campbell. Pallbearers are Billy Ray "Bubba", Larnel, Lynn, David and Steven.
Brown was a native of Florence and resident of Fairhope. He was employed by Ward's Construction and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy Brown and four children, Megan, Tyler, Ally and Abby, all of Fairhope; parents, Darlene and Jeff Burnett of Huntsville and Jerry Brown of Jackson; sister, Kristin Wallace of Decatur; grandparents, Betty and Billy Patterson of Hackleburg.
Katie Johnson
Katie Johnson, 85, a native of Greenville and resident of Butler, died July 19, 2007 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Y. Johnson and two sons, William Riley Johnson and John Allen Johnson.
She is survived by three daughters, Patty J. Allen and Betty Jay May, both of Butler and Helen Clark of Meridian, Miss.; two brothers, Ed Whiddon and Riley Whiddon, both of Greenville, sister, Frances Adams of Greenville; three half brothers and sisters; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted July 20 at Mt. Sterling Cemetery
in Mt. Sterling with the Rev. Danny Nelson officiating. Bumpers Funeral Home of Butler officiated.
William Rodger Raybon
William Rodger Raybon, a lumber salesman with Liberty Building Products in Grove Hill and a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Thomasville, died July 17, 2007 in Grove Hill. He was 55 years of age and a native of Fulton.
His survivors include his wife, Jackie Raybon of Fulton; son, Kyle Raybon of Thomasville; daughter, Kim Wall of Lurray, Va.; mother, Trudie Raybon of Fulton; brother, Terry Raybon of Thomasville; grandchild, Brett Wall of Thomasville.
Funeral services were July 20 at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Faircloth officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers are Rick Steadham, Randy Gates, Danny Harrison, Michael Nelson, Dennis Drinkard and Jay Harris. Honorary pallbearers are Clifton Phillips, John Autry, Johnny Doggett, Willard Gates, Bruce Etheridge, Tony Barlow, Alan Bishop, Van Liddell, Dan.
Roseann Halloran Dolbear
Roseann Halloran Dolbear, 73, a native of Chicago, Ill. and resident of Jackson, died Aug. 6, 2007 at the family residence. Retired, she was a cashier at Winn Dixie, a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Jackson and a member of Visitation Catholic Church in Jackson.
She is survived by her husband, David Devaine Dolbear of Jackson; son, Jeffrey David Dolbear of Clanton; daughters, Marianne Dolbear Hurst of Jackson and Amanda Dolbear Sullivan of Leroy; seven grandchildren, Captain Miranda Hancock, United States Air Force, Lance Corporal Melanie Rivers, United States Marine Corps, Christopher Dolbear, Morgan Hurst, Jacob Sullivan, David Perry Dolbear and Juliann Sullivan; three great-grandchildren, Brandon James, Zachary Hancock and Benjamin Hancock.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday (today), Aug. 9, 10 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church with Fr. James Havens officiating. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery
in Jackson with arrangements by Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson.
Bertha G. Hoven
Bertha G. Hoven, 85, died Aug. 6, 2007 at a Mobile hospital. She was native of Washington County and a resident of Jackson. A member of Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Condie Hoven of Jackson; two daughters, Mary Wilson and Betty Horton, both of Jackson; a sister, Sara Lee Hoven of Lucedale, Miss.; six grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 8 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Hoven Jr. officiating. Interment was in Pine Crest Cemetery
in Jackson.
Timothy Wayne Reid
Timothy Wayne Reid, 47, died at his residence July 31, 2007. He was a native of Grove Hill and a resident of Jackson. Reid was a bleach plant operator at Boise, LLC in Jackson and a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Jackson.
He is survived by this mother and father, Rita Reid and Floyd Reid, both of Jackson; a son, Timothy Braxton Reid of Robertsdale; two daughters, Rebekah Lynn Reid and Brittany Elaine Reid, both of Robertsdale; and a brother, Randy Reid of Jackson.
Funeral services were Aug. 2 at Forest Avenue Baptist Church with interment in Antioch Cemetery

Charles L. Wheat
Charles L. Wheat, died Aug. 6, 2007 at the age of 74. He was a native and resident of Wagarville and had retired as an operator for Olin Chemical Corporation. Wheat was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Wagarville and a veteran of the United States Army. He is predeceased by his daughter, Becky Lynn Wheat.
He is survived by his wife, Eva M. Wheat of Wagarville; two sons, Buddy Wheat and Jim (Susie) Wheat, both of Wagarville; three sisters, Johnnie Louise Kelly and Flossie Chastain, both of Jackson and Ginger Reeves of Leroy; and a grandchild, Shannon Wheat of Wagarville.
Visitation will be Thursday (today), Aug. 9 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. The funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 10, 11 a.m. at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold Bordages officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Donald Gray Walker
Donald Gray Walker, a native and resident of Dickinson, died July 31, 2007 at the age of 67. He was an Army veteran who served in Berlin and worked most of his life in the carpenter crew at Scotch Lumber Company in Fulton.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Hamilton Walker of Dickinson; three daughters, Sandra Scott of Chilton, Donna Wilson of Dickinson and Angie Phillips of Thomasville; a son, Michael Gray Walker of Dickinson; brother, William Walker of Jackson; sister, Mary Courtney of Thomasville; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 2 at the Dickinson Baptist Church with Bros. Raymond Williams, Jimmy Parnell and Gray Snodgrass officiating. Interment was in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery
in Thomasville with St. Stephens Funeral Home of St. Stephens directing.
Sylvia French Hunt
Sylvia Yvette French Hunt, 41, a resident of Jackson, died Aug. 2, 2007 at Providence Hospital in Mobile.
A home day care provider, she was a member of Carlton AOH Church where she sang in the choir and served as a deaconess.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Hunt of Jackson; a sister, Dorothy French of Jackson; and brother, Charles Stewart of Detroit, Mich.
The funeral was Aug. 8 at Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in Jackson. Interment followed in Mt. Gilead Cemetery
in Carlton with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.
