Jordan

Ora Dee Jordan, 70, a native and resident of Malcolm, died Aug. 12, 2006 at Jackson Health Care Facility. She was retired from the Washington County School System as a dietician at Frank W. Boykin School in McIntosh. Jordan was a member of Big John Baptist Church in Malcolm where she was a choir member. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hughey and Catherine File Law. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy (the Rev. Craig) Westry of Malcolm; two sisters, Goldlee Jackson of Citronelle and Catherine (John) Morgan of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Roosevelt (Laura) Law of Citronelle, L.T. (Carolyn) Law of Biloxi, Miss. and Tony (Mildred) Law of Ocean Springs, Miss.; two grandchildren, Kaylan and Kylen Westry, both of Malcolm and devoted friend, B.R. Adams of McIntosh.

The funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 19, 11 a.m. in the Big John Baptist Church in Malcolm. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

Bertie Mae Powell Woodyard

Bertie Mae Powell Woodyard died Aug. 24, 2006 at her residence in Leroy. She was 88.

Retired from Vanity Fair as a seamstress, she was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Leroy. She was a Leroy Senior Citizen VIP, and a member of the Wagarville Nutrition Center.

She is survived by two sons, Joe Woodyard of Leroy and Tarzan Connerly of Northport, Fla.; stepson, George Wilder Woodyard of Choctaw, Okla; three daughters, Juanita Conerly Catrett of Sunflower, Flora Woodyard Pettis and Mary Woodyard Guy, both of Leroy; three stepdaughters, Louise Woodyard Anderson of Jackson, Catherine Woodyard Trott of Saraland and Frankie Woodyard Havard of Chickasaw; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was Aug. 26 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

A.G. Gilmore

A.G. Gilmore, 55, a resident of Coffeeville, died Aug. 20, 2006 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. He was employed by Ciba Corp. in McIntosh.

Survivors include four sons, A. G. Gilmore III, Courtland Agee and Shawnte Agee, all of Mobile and Percy O'Neal Gilmore of Japan; six daughters, Toni Gilmore of Richmond, Va., Tracy Pettaway, Courtney Agee, Kendra Agee, Kimberly Agee and Shannon Agee, all of Mobile; four brothers, Larry Gilmore of Detroit, Mich., Henry Gilmore, Kenny Gilmore and Arthur Gilmore, all of Mobile; four sisters, Doris Files of Detroit, Evelyn Lamar, Claudia Richardson and Patricia Gilmore, all of Mobile; and eight grandchildren.

The funeral was Aug. 28 at St. Paul Baptist Church in Salitpa. Interment was in the church cemetery with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Joseph Thomas Anderson

Infant Joseph Thomas Anderson died Aug. 27, 2006.

He is survived by his mother, Melissa Hunt of Gainestown; father, Thomas Anderson of Montgomery; sister, Shana Anderson of Gainestown; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Jessie Kemp of Gainestown and a host of other relatives.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday (today), Aug. 31 at the Antioch African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery in Gainestown with the Rev. Robert Taylor officiating and Andrews Funeral Home directing.

Herman LeRoy Mullinix

Herman LeRoy Mullinix, 85, a native of Damascus, Md., died Sept. 4, 2006 at his residence in Jackson where he has lived for the last six years.

He retired as a security guard at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md. at the age of 79. He spent most of his life as Montgomery County, Md. police officer and was a World War veteran of the U.S. Army. A member of the American Legion in Damascus and the First Baptist Church of Jackson, he was active in the Senior Adult Ministry and attended Sunday School.

Survivors include his daughter, Rosalie (Bob) Brown of Brookville, Md.; two sons, Randy (Shelly) Mullinix of Martinsburg, W. Va. and Tim (Donette) Mullinix of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Lori Brown, Holly Ryan, Chris Brown, Bethany Brown, Nicholas Mullinix, Judd Mullinix, Anna Kate Mullinix and Griffin Mullinix; six great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Mullinix of Damascus.

A memorial service is being conducted at the First Baptist Church in Jackson on Thursday, Sept. 7 (today) 6 p.m. with Brian Jemison officiating. Interment will be in Damascus, Md. with Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Nicaragua Mission Fund at the First Baptist Church in Jackson or the charity of your choice.

Willie James Bryant

Willie James Bryant, a resident of Walker Springs, died Sept. 2, 2006 at Jackson Medical Center at the age of 59. He was employed in the lumber industry as a saw operator.

He is survived by four sons, Willie Lee Bryant, Jermey Bryant and Marcus Bryant, all of Jackson and Jason Bryant of Mobile; three daughters, Barbara West of Jackson, Brenda Perine of Choctaw Bluff and Christina West of Gainestown; three sisters, Aldora Smith of Jackson, Bessie Bryant of Walker Springs and Annie Bumper of Winn; two brothers, Curtis Bryant and Anthony Bryant, both of Walker Springs and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour of 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Walker Springs. Interment will be in the Hotel Hill Cemetery in Walker Springs with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

William A. Flowers

William A. Flowers, 55 of Jackson, a self-employed logger, died Aug. 30, 2006 at his home in Jackson. He was a native of Camden.

Survivors include his wife, Nora Flowers of Jackson; son, Thomas Sticher of Jackson; two daughters, Laura Ann Flowers of Georgia and April Flowers of Mississippi; two brothers, Jimmy (Janet) Flowers and Stanley (Fancie) Flowers, all of Jackson; four sisters, Shirley (Rayford) Overton of Grove Hill, Glenda (Burl) Goodman of Dickinson, Angie Flowers of Excel and Denise (Terry) Hayles of Jackson; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The graveside service was Aug. 31 in the Coy Cemetery in Coy with the Rev. Al Crawford officiating and O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directing.

Pallbearers were Burl Goodman, Billy Champion, Rayford Overton, James Overton, Daryl Overton and Johnny Overton.

Honorary pallbearers were Keith Harbin and Phil Gilchrist.

Clayton Allen McDonald

Clayton Allen McDonald, 23, a resident of Wagarville, died Sept. 3, 2006 at Jackson Medical Center. He was employed by Mac Tire Service Center in Leroy.

Survivors include his mother, Jacklyn McDonald of St. Stephens; biological parents, Tammy and Michael Hiatt of Fairbanks, Alaska; brother, Jacob McDonald of St. Stephens; sister, Leslie Savage of St. Stephens and grandmother, Margaret Davis of Leroy.

Visitation will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. until the funeral hour of 10 a.m. at St. Union Baptist Church in Leroy. Interment will be in the Roberts Cemetery in McIntosh with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Doris Virginia Freeman Vann

Doris Virginia Freeman Vann, 27, a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Coffeeville, died Sept. 3, 2006 in Quitman, Miss.

Survivors include her mother, Deborah Thornton of Coffeeville; son, Austin Dillion Grice of Needham; two daughters, Whitney Nicole Grice of Needham and Maradra Michelle Grice of Coffeeville; two brothers, Steve Freeman of Coffeeville and Carl Davis Freeman Jr. of Needham; half-brother, Seth Nicholos Gross of New Orleans, La.; grandmother, Doris Virginia Preston of Bay St. Louis, Miss., great-grandmother, Ruby Jacobs of Barrytown and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 7 (today) from 6-8 p.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home in Butler.

The funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 9, 10 a.m. at Shady Grove Assembly of God. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Cemetery in the Shady Grove community.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gibson, Danny Gibson, Glynn Gibson, Wayne Hearn and Ricky Glynn Mosley.

Jamaury Whittaker

Jamaury Whittaker, 22, a resident of Walker Springs, died at Jackson Medical Center on Sept. 2, 2006.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Whittaker of Walker Springs; two daughters, Jaliyah Pritchett of Walker Springs and Amauria Creighton of Tuscaloosa; three brothers, Darryl Jemison of Columbus, Ga., John Whittaker of Walker Springs and Christopher Washington of Alma; four sisters, Sharon Jemison of Grove Hill, Shinette Nicholson of Jackson, Keisha Rivers of Gainestown and Janisha Vacca of Walker Springs.

Funeral services will be conducted at Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Walker Springs at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9. Visitation will begin an hour before the service. Burial will be in the Antioch A.M.E. Cemetery in Alma with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.
