Jimmie Dock Loper
Jimmy Dock Loper, 62, died Nov. 19, 2006 at a local convalescent center. He was disabled. A member of Yarbo Assembly of God Church, he was a native of Chatom and a resident of Millry.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Helen Loper of Yarbo; two brothers, Kennedy Loper of Fairhope and Wayne Loper of Jackson; three sisters, Doris Busby and Bessie Singleton, both of Yarbo and Ann Holton of Jackson.
The funeral service was Nov. 22 at Yarbo Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Curtis Morris officiating. Interment was in Springbank Baptist Cemetery
with Lathan Funeral Home of Chatom directing.
Annie Mae Fowler Paul
The funeral service for Annie Mae Fowler Paul was Nov. 18 at St. Union Baptist Church on Allen Walker Road in Grove Hill. Interment was in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery
with Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill directing.
Mrs. Paul, a native of Allen and a resident of Dothan, died Nov. 15, 2006 at a family residence in Ragland. She was a homemaker and member of Memphis Baptist Church in Dothan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Paul and son Randall Paul.
Survivors include a son, John G. Paul of Riverside; daughter, Elizabeth (Ray) Fell of Dothan; two sisters, Bernice Campbell of Grove Hill and Voncile Sheffield of Montgomery; three grandchildren, Ashley Gundrum of Ozark, Alison Kelley of Phenix City and Kirk (Julie) Fell, all of Birmingham and four great-grandchildren, Chelsea Case, Skylar Case, Hannah Fell and Eli Fell.
Raymond Orlando Perotti Sr.
Raymond Orlando Perotti Sr., 78, died Nov. 18, 2006 at a local hospital in Montgomery. He was a native of Torrington, Conn. and a resident of Grove Hill. He was a self-employed truck driver and veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two sons, Raymond O. Perotti Jr. of Montgomery and John Perotti of Massachusetts; daughter, Pamela Hardy of Fairfax, Va.; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral service was Nov. 21 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial was in Magnolia Lawn Cemetery
in Grove Hill.
Joseph E. Williams Jr.
Joseph E. Williams Jr., 70, died Nov. 7, 2006 at a local hospital. A native of Washington County and a resident of Fruitdale, he was in the logging business.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Williams of Fruitdale; three sons, Joe A. Williams and Allen Greg Williams, both of Fruitdale and Ronnie Williams of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Nelson E. Williams of Fruitdale and Raymond Hutchins of Charlotte, Mich.; two sisters, Ann Brown of Fruitdale and Faye Platt of Leaksville, Miss., three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was Nov. 10 at South Oak Grove Baptist Church in Fruitdale with Bros. Frank Thornton and Don Lee officiating. Interment was in the Joseph Williams Cemetery
in Fruitdale St. Stephens Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers were James Mizell, John Hare, A.J. Williams, Merritt Nicholas, Darrell Williams and Curtis Strickland.
Victoria Q. Walker Victoria Q. Walker, 90, a native of Manila, a former resident of St.
Victoria Q. Walker
Stephens and a resident of Jackson, died Nov. 20, 2006 at Jackson Health Care Facility. A homemaker, she was a member of James Chapel Baptist Church in St. Stephens where she served as mother of the church, an adult Sunday School teacher and member of the Home Mission and Bible Study. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucinda and Luden Quinney.
Survivors include eight sons, Henry Eugene (Rosie) Wright of Wagarville, Davis (Minnie) Walker of St. Stephens, Huburt (Noel) Walker of Fayetteville, N.C., Samuel (Margaret) Walker, Joseph Walker, Robert (Ella) Walker and Lee Walker, all of Chicago, Ill. and James (Queen Esther) Rasberry of Gainesville, Fla.; a host of grandchildren including a devoted granddaughter, Sandra Walker, great-grandchildren and greatgreat grandchildren; two foster children, Lorraine and David King and special friends, Minnie Sanford and Sherri Duff.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 25, 11 a.m. at James Chapel Baptist Church in St. Stephens with the Rev. Henry L. Gillis, pastor and eulogist. Viewing will be Friday, 6-8 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home in Jackson. A second viewing will conducted one hour prior to funeral service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Harriet McKenzie Bradshaw
Harriet McKenzie Bradshaw, 66, of Peachtree City, Ga. died on November 19, 2006 with complications from cancer. Mrs. Bradshaw was born in Atmore, Ala. and attended public schools in Atmore and Jackson, Ala. She attended the University of Montevallo and graduated from Auburn University in 1962 with a B.S. in Education. She was a member of numerous organizations including Delta Delta Delta Sorority and performed with the traveling Auburn Players Drama Group while at Auburn.
She worked as a classroom teacher and Special Reading Teacher in the DeKalb County Schools where she was an active member of the DeKalb Association of Educators and a founding member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE). She was a member of the International Reading Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development and the National Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development.
Mrs. Bradshaw attended graduate school at the University of Georgia on a teaching Assistantship and received a Masters Degree in Teaching and Reading. Her responsibilities in the Reading Department included being a demonstration teacher of remedial and corrective reading and evaluating children with severe reading disabilities that were referred to the University Reading Clinic.
She was widely recognized for her expertise in instruction and was active with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in the school accreditation process. She served on several state and local SACS Committees including the outside Visiting Committee that evaluated and recommended initial accreditation of Fayette County Elementary Schools in 1975. Harriet Bradshaw was an active member of the honor education society Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) from 1975-1985. During that time she was on several ADK Committees and served two terms as Treasurer of the organization. She was an active member of the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Atlanta in the late 70s and early 80s serving on the Star Student Reception Committee the Urban Life Committee, and the Dogwood Festival Committee. Mrs. Bradshaw is a Patron member of the Atlanta High Museum of Art and a former member of the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge Organization. She helped organize and chaperone two groups of honor high school students who attended a series of classes in Washington, D.C. and Valley Forge, Pa. She also served on the Freedoms Foundation Board of Directors, was Youth Committee Chairperson and worked with the annual Tour of Homes.
She was a leader in the Georgia-Pernambuco Partners of the Americas organization instituted by President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn when he was governor of Georgia. The organization sponsored an annual exchange between Recife, Brazil and Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Bradshaw was on the Board of Directors, hosted Brazilian visitors, and traveled to Brazil during one of the earlier exchanges. President Carter's widely known Friendship Force implemented nationally during his presidency was modeled after the Georgia organization that Harriet Bradshaw helped nurture and succeed. Active in the United Methodist Church for more than 40 years, she was a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Education Committee Chair, and a member of the Council on Ministries, Administrative Board, and Stewardship Committee of the Dunwoody United Methodist Church. She was also active in the United Methodist Women, the Prayer Ministry, and in the Interpreter's Sunday School Class. Since moving to Peachtree City and joining the Peachtree City United Methodist Church, Mrs. Bradshaw has served as Vice Chair of the United Methodist Women, President of Naomi Circle, and taught Bible study in the Grits and Grace Program in Peachtree City assisted living homes.
She is survived by her husband Scott Bradshaw of Peachtree City, and daughter Kathryn L. Bradshaw of Peachtree City.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son, Peachtree City. The Rev. Sean Robinson officiated. Dessa R. Atchison Shoultz
Dessa Rebecca Atchison Shoultz, 84, a lifelong resident of Salitpa, died Nov. 23, 2006 at her residence. A member of River Hill Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Salitpa Fire Department and the Jackson Rescue Squad, she also served as a poll worker for 45 years. She was a retired machine operator for Vanity Fair Mills.
Survivors include three sons, John T. (Ruby) Shoultz of Citronelle, Joseph L. Shoultz and Stephen R. (Dawn) Shoultz, all of Salitpa; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Scott Myers officiated the 10 a.m. funeral service on Nov. 25 at River Hill Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers were William Hughes, Randall Shoultz, Jeremy Wilson, Christopher Shoultz, Mike Shoultz and Johnny Shoultz.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Salitpa Fire Department and the Jackson Rescue Squad.
Junior Floyd Fuller
Junior Floyd Fuller, 65, a native and resident of Whatley, died Nov. 22, 2006 at his home. He was a retired truck driver with Porter Trucking Co.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Fuller of Whatley; son, Jimmy Fuller of Grove Hill; daughter, Deborah Fuller of Grove Hill; eight brothers, Curtis Fuller of Allen, Charles Fuller of Bassett Creek, Tommy Fuller, Bennie Fuller and George Fuller, all of Whatley, Travis Fuller and Warren Fuller, both of Grove Hill and Cecil Fuller of Walker Springs; three sisters, Nell McConnell, Lucille Vick and Betty White, all of Whatley.
The funeral service was Nov. 26 at Asbury Baptist Church in Grove Hill. Burial was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill directing.
Bernice Alma Roberts Schultz
Bernice Alma Roberts Schultz, 77, died Dec. 2, 2006 at a local health care facility in Jackson. She was a native of Coffeeville and a resident of Jackson. A member of Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson and the Jackson Rescue Squad, she retired from Vanity Fair after 40 years as a seamstress.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Schultz of Jackson; brother, Richard Roberts of Grove Hill; two sisters, Martha Martin of Biloxi, Miss. and Sadie Anderson of Jackson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service was Dec. 4 at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
