Joseph Thomas Gibbons Sr.
Joseph Thomas Gibbons Sr., age 73, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in Sugar Land, Texas.
Joseph was born on July 21, 1939, in Tallassee, Ala. He graduated from Tallassee High School in 1957 and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Joseph was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed auto racing and attending races at Talladega and Fort Worth.
Joseph was a beloved husband, father, and friend, who will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Albert and Christine Gibbons, of Tallassee.
Joseph is survived by wife of over 52 years, Bashaba Gibbons, of Houston, Texas; son, Joseph Thomas Gibbons, Jr., and wife Patricia, of Houston; sisters, Sammie Cooper and husband Edward, of Dothan, AL, and Peggy Johnson, of Tallassee,; and nephews, Michael Emfinger, of Eufaula, Ala., Tom Johnson, of Tallassee, and Chris Johnson, of Tallassee.
A visitation with the family was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 15, at Earthman Southwest Chapel, Stafford, Texas.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 16, also at Earthman Southwest Chapel, Stafford.
Thomas Richard Head III
HOMEWOOD — Thomas Richard “Tripp” Head III of Homewood passed away Nov. 17, 2011, at the age of 41.
Born March 1, 1970, in Montgomery, Mr. Head grew up in Wetumpka and graduated from Edgewood Academy, attended The University of the South and graduated from Birmingham Southern College with a bachelor’s of science in biology. He received his master’s in biology from the University of South Alabama, and it was there he realized his passion for environmental law.
Mr. Head earned his Juris Doctorate from the Cumberland School of Law and his Master of Laws in Environmental Law from George Washington University.
Mr. Head was a partner at Balch and Bingham LLP, an adjunct professor for Samford University’s Masters Degree Program in Environmental Management and served as past chair of the Environmental Law Section of the Alabama State Bar.
He dedicated his time to the YMCA’s Camp Cosby by serving on the Board of Management and was a member of The Cathedral Church of the Advent and of Kappa Alpha Order.
Mr. Head is survived by his wife of 11 years, Julie Austin Dorrough Head; daughters Mary Austin and Jane Harris of Homewood; parents Tommy and Nell Harris Head of Wetumpka; sister Laurie Head Hutchinson and husband Thad and niece Hadden of Wetumpka; in-laws Scotty and Anne Austin Dorrough of Birmingham; sister-in-law Leigh Anne Dorrough Robertson and husband Jim and niece Elizabeth of Rockford, Ill.; aunt Martha Head Givens of Montgomery and aunt Tricia Harris Fowler and husband Ken of Montgomery.
A dear friend to many, Mr. Head was a lifelong outdoorsman, avid reader, devoted husband and loving father.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 20 at The Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham with a memorial service at 3 p.m. Nov. 20 at the church with the Rev. Frank F. Limehouse III officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to YMCA Camp Cosby (2290 Paul Bear Bryant Road, Alpine, AL 35014) or Alabama Episcopal Cursillo (c/o Patrick Toomey P.O. Box 530484, Birmingham, AL 35253).
Stephanie Paige Peeples
Stephanie Paige Peeples, 40, a resident of Smyrna, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 16 at Gassett Funeral Home.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Nov. 17 at Cain’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Beeson and the Rev. Heath Reese officiating. Interment will follow at Cain’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery
with Gassett Funeral Home directing.
Stephanie graduated from Auburn University with a degree in interior design. For the past 17 years she worked for Design Environments, Inc. in Kennesaw, Ga., where she created beautiful designs for model homes, apartments and club houses.
She is survived by her parents, Sanford and Mary Peeples; sister and brother-in-law, Emily Peeples (Mike) Hurst; nephew, Blake Atkins; two grandmothers, Elizabeth H. Reese and Eunice P. Peeples; uncle, Fred Reese (Pam); cousins, Heath Reese (Kelly); Andrea Belue (Tyson); uncle, Bill Reese (Mel); cousins, Will Reese (Carol); Melanie Taunton (Chad); Lindsey Reese; aunt, Mary Alice Collier (Joe); cousins, Sherry Hester; Beverly Chandler (Doug), Kathy Raines (Randy), Wade Collier (Libby), Angela Collier; aunt, Marilyn Pogue (Jim); cousins, Pamela Pleasant (Chip), Jimmy Pogue (Faith), and many loving cousins, coworkers and friends.

WETUMPKA — Mr. Charles W. Hagans, 64, a lifelong resident of Wetumpka, passed away on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 in a local hospital.
Charles loved watching TV, especially Westerns and movies, verbal praise, reading, and talking with his sister Diane (husband Billy) Chesser of Prattville, and his friends and loving staff of PHP of Alabama.

Betty Joyce Wells Curlee
WETUMPKA — Betty Joyce Wells Curlee, a resident of Wetumpka, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at the age of 76.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at Cain’s Chapel Cemetery
with Pastor Bill Tucker officiating and Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.
Mrs. Curlee is survived by her son, James Melvin “Mel” Curlee Jr., nephews, James Daniel Curlee, Kevin Wells, Jim Wells, Dr. Bryan Wells, Chris Wells, nieces, Marijo Latham, Dawn Dismukes, Alison Law, Kathy Watson, Sandy Smith, Barbara Plott, sisters-in-law, Martha Wells, Monette Wells, Betty Jo Wells and Geri Wells.
Pallbearers will be Chad Law, Lance Latham, James Daniel Curlee, Kevin Wells, Jim Wells, Dr. Bryan Wells, Henry Nixon and Chris Wells.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Dismukes and David Bush.

Carl Winston Roberson
Carl Winston Roberson, 90, a resident of Eclectic, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 9 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery
with Minister Vaughn Gardner officiating and Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.
Mr. Roberson is preceded in death by his parents, Lemon and Vesta Roberson, brother, Herman Roberson, wife, Nellie P. Roberson, granddaughters, Rene Hawks and Connie Roberson.
He is survived by his son, Winston (Carolyn) Lafayette Roberson, grandchild, Winston Lafayette Roberson Jr., great grandchild, Sarah Whiles, great-great grandchild, Nicholas Whiles and devoted family and friends and caregiver, Ray and Linda Hammond.
Pallbearers will be Charles Lyle, Jim Copen, Ray Hammond, Wayne Lyle, Tommy Hamilton, Jim Mask, and Winston Roberson Jr.
Mr. Roberson served in World War II. He was a member of Blue Lodge Mason and also a member of Scottish Rites for 50 years.
Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Jan. 8 at Gassett Funeral Home.
Family and friends will gather at the graveside the day of service.
