Funeral services for Mary Ann Blunt Shell, 88, of LaFayette were at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2003 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in LaFayette. Rev. Melvin Owens officiated. Burial followed at Handy Cemetery.
Mrs. Shell died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at her residence. She was born May 7, 1915, in Chambers County. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the Womenís Missionary Society for many years. Mrs. Shell also retired from Traylor Nursing Home after more than 15 years of service.
She is survived by two sons, Walter Blunt and wife Hazel and George Blunt and wife Marjorie of Mobile; three daughters, Charlene Holloway of LaFayette, Ola Mae Hill and husband Willie Lewis of Lanett and Christine Davis of West Point, Ga.; one daughter-in-law, Verneita Blunt of Mobile; one sister, Marie King of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 37 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Ruth Reid
1928-2003
Funeral services for Ruth Reid, 75, of Alexander City were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Heritage Chapel. The Rev. Tom Pemberton officiated. Burial followed at Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2003.
Mrs. Reid died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at her residence. She was born July 11, 1928 in Hissop to George Clarence Brooks and Lola Kizziah. She was a homemaker and retired waitress.
She is survived by her husband Neal Reid; one son, Ray Berry of Jackson's Gap; three daughters, Anita Newsome of Phenix City, Wanda Roberts and husband Joe of Alexander City, and Jenene Milner and husband Wallace of Jackson's Gap; one sister, Mary Keel of Buttston; seven grandchildren, Toni Stranyak, Eric Mitchell, Wendy Tabet, Daniel Milner, Tabitha Naler, Miranda Berry and Wade Berry; five great-grandchildren, Dakota Gaither, Hannah Stranyak, Dalton Broome, Dylan Milner and Tanner Stranyak; one very close and special friend, Mona Hammonds and two special nieces, Barbara and Debbie.

John Casper Rogers
1944-2003
Memorial services for John Casper Rogers, 59, of Dadeville, formerly of Knoxville, Tenn., were held at 7 p.m. Oct. 21, 2003, at Beulah Baptist Church in Dadeville. The Rev. Tim Bass officiated. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m.
A visitation was held at 1 p.m. Oct. 23, 2003, at Highland West Funeral Home in Knoxville, Tenn. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. with burial following at Highland West Cemetery. The Rev. Jeremy McGinnis officiated. The Air Force Honor Guard from Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia served as pallbearers and had charge of the graveside service after the prayer, led by Rev. McGinnis, followed by a 21-gun salute. The United States flag which draped the coffin was folded and presented to Mrs. Rogers.
Mr. Rogers died Oct. 19, 2003, at Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System Hospital in Montgomery, following a battle with esophagus cancer. He was born Oct. 6, 1944. He was an 18-year resident of Dadeville and joined the military and moved from Knoxville, Tenn., in 1962. He served in the U.S. Army for four years, which included two years in Germany. He was in the U.S. Air Force for 18 years, which included a year in Cheyenne, Wyo.; a year in South East Asia; seven years in Montgomery; and nine years in San Antonio, Texas, where he worked as a gunsmith and designed tools for working on firearms. He also worked part-time for more than 20 years in the field of taxidermy. After retiring from the Air Force as a master sergeant in 1985, and building his house in south Tallapoosa County. He taught the weapons portion of the Hunter Safety Course for several years and worked for the Lee County and the Tallapoosa County Sheriff's Departments as a jailer for about four years, until December 1994.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Juanita Irene Minton Rogers, also originally from Knoxville, Tenn.; one daughter, Patricia Ann Crawford and husband Stanley and their children: Jacob, Andrew, Caleb and Rachel Crawford of Keystone Heights, Fla.; one son, Dennis Wayne Rogers and his daughter Tabitha Rogers of Dadeville; two sisters, Emma June Hopper and husband Jack of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mary Deloros Harris of Crossville, Tenn.; one brother, Jimmy Hayes Rogers and wife Judith Webb Rogers of Knoxville, Tenn.; three aunts: Betty Jean Rogers of Maryville, Tenn., Emmaline Baker Rogers of Ellijay, Ga., and Dorothy Williams of Sterling Heights, Mich., and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Ann Rogers and his parents, Millard and Mayme Rogers, of Knoxville, Tenn.

Funeral services for Mary Bessie Dark Stark, 90, of Alexander City will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Earl Gordon and Joe Mallory will officiate. Burial will follow at Alexander City Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003.
Mrs. Stark died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at Russell Medical Center. She was born Sept. 15, 1913, in Tallapoosa County to Robert Addison Dark and Alice Amyra Tankersley Dark. She was a homemaker, a substitute teacher and was a member of Pearson Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Robin Stark Andrews and husband Marty of Alexander City, Jessica Stark Goldfon and husband Jeremy of Birmingham and Emily Stark England and husband Brent of Atlanta; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Connor Andrews of Alexander City and cousins Thomas Byron Saunders and wife Lane and family and Sylvia Saunders Rush and husband Charles and family, all of Alexander City.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul Broughton Stark; one son, Paul B. Stark Jr.; seven brothers, Robert, Dwight, Steve, Thomas, Aubrey, Earl and Albert and one sister, Virginia McKinnon.

Funeral services for Theodis Sistrunk, 71, of Camp Hill were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at New Adka Baptist Church in Dadeville. The Rev. Edward Milner officiated. Burial followed at Shiloh Cemetery
in Camp Hill.
Mr. Sistrunk died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at his residence. He was born June 6, 1932, in Tallapoosa County to Roosevelt and Maudine Sistrunk in Camp Hill. He was a member of New Adka Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Sistrunk of Camp Hill; two sons, Theodis Sistrunk and wife Carol of Birmingham and Willie Joe Sistrunk and wife Brenda of Brighton; one daughter, Mary Helen Mason and husband Kelvin of Orange, N.J.; seven sisters, Alberta Patterson, Roberto Monfus and husband Johnny and Mattie Carr, all of Orlando, Fla., Virginia Teague of Dadeville, Trudie Wilder of North Carolina, Louise Bracy of Colorado, Mary Helen Sistrunk of Los Angeles; two brothers, John Sistrunk of Orlando, Fla., and Richard Sistrunk of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Theo Dowdell and Willie Frank Dowdell, both of Camp Hill; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Sistrunk.

Funeral services for Tim "Bruno" Wesson, 50, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Orr Street Baptist Church. The Rev. George Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow at Alexander City Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003.
Mr. Wesson died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Russell Medical Center. He was born Oct. 10, 1953, in Tallapoosa County to Rupert Pelham Wesson Jr. and Jackie McCollough Wesson. He worked as an electrician for Russell Corp.
He is survived by his mother, Jackie Wesson of Alexander City; one sister, Kathy Rehe and husband Gary of Atlanta; two nephews, Bart Newman and wife Julie and Brett Newman, all of Atlanta; one aunt, Mary Walden of Alexander City; three uncles, Bob Wesson of Albertville and Marvin Lashley and David McCollough, both of Alexander City; 12 cousins, Joe Wesson and Janet McCollough Tate, both of Atlanta, Jimmy McCollough, David Lashley, John Lashley, Paula McCollough Arnberg, Beth Shaw, Diana Henderson, Steve Walden, Marilyn Kelly and Charles Gardner, all of Alexander City and Van McCollough of Brandon, Fla., and a host of friends.
