Terrell Jamal Kelly of Daviston died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at his residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Wright's Funeral Home.

Azariah Darling

1923-2003

Funeral services for Azariah Darling, 80, of Goodwater will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, at Radney-Smith Funeral Chapel in Sylacauga. Rev. Tom Hilyer, the Rev. Thompson Pitts and the Rev. Eddie Forbus will officiate. Burial will follow at Hollins Cemetery in Hollins. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003.

Mr. Darling died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born Jan. 7, 1923 to John and Maudie Darling. He was a member of Brown's Chapel Church and served as a deacon for 40 years in the Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Virginia Futral of Goodwater; four sons, Kenneth A. Darling and John Darling, both of Sylacauga, Curtis Darling and Daniel Darling, both of Goodwater; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Thelma Baird Darling.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

Gladys B. Taylor

1914-2003

Funeral services for Gladys B. Taylor, 89, of Webb were at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Chapel in Ashford. The Rev. Homer Davis Jr. officiated. Burial followed at Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003.

Mrs. Taylor died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Extendicare Health and Rehab in Dothan. She was born July 18, 1914, in Tallapoosa County. She was a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church in Ashford and retired from Russell Corp.

She is survived by one daughter, Jean Watts and husband Maynard of Ashford; one son, Johnny Taylor and wife Laurie of Plano, Texas; one sister, Annie Bell Boeling of Sylacauga; five grandchildren, Steven Watts of Atlanta, Brian Watts and wife Jan of Cottonwood, Ashley Taylor, Jonathan Taylor and Mark Taylor, all of Plano, Texas, and two great-grandchildren, Troy and Hayley Watts of Cottonwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Coley Blythe and Ada Sanders Blythe; her husband, Johnny H. Taylor; one son, Robert "Bobby" Taylor; three brothers, Ralph Blythe of Albuquerque, N.M., Herbert Blythe of Daviston and Jessie Blythe of New Site; four sisters, Bertha Prather of Alexander City, Minnie Lee Laney of Daviston, Rilla Boone of Fairfax and Mae Oliver of Alexander City.

Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home in Ashford is in charge of arrangements.

Lynn Wills

July 23, 2003

Graveside services for Lynn Wills, 76, of Alexander City and the Cowpens Community will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, at Bethlehem-New Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Wills died July 23, 2003, at Adams Nursing Home.

Radney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Michael J. Pike

1980-2003

Funeral services for Michael J. Pike, 23, of Alexander City were at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Heritage Chapel. The Rev. Ronnie Phillips officiated. Burial followed at Fellowship Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003.

Mr. Pike died July 24, 2003, at UAB Hospital. He was born April 7, 1980, in Tallapoosa County to James and Brenda Pike. He was employed in construction - housing.

He is survived by his father, James Pike; his mother, Brenda Pike; one son, Dylan Pike of Alexander City; two stepsons, Andrew McClure and Dustin Brown; one brother, Kenneth Pike of Alexander City; two sisters, Crissie Pike of Alexander City and Hope Rainwater of Dadeville; his grandparents, Frank and Robbie Griffin of Alexander City, Lorene Skinner of Dadeville and Jerry Cross of Kingsman, Ga.

Heritage Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Harvie Lee Bailey

July 25, 2003

Funeral services for Harvie Lee Bailey, 89, of Sylacauga were at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel. The Revs. Donald Grice and James Maddox officiated. Burial followed at Flint Hill Cemetery in Alexander City.

Mr. Bailey died Friday, July 25, 2003, at his residence. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Childersburg.

He is survived by four sons, James A. Bailey of Sylacauga, Oliver E. Bailey of Deatsville, Curtis Bailey of Marbury and Kenneth Bailey of Prattville; two daughters, Delois Owings and Linda Stallings of Sylacauga; three step-sons, Joel Cook of Sylacauga, Jackie Cook of Georgia and Bobby Cook of Tennessee; two step-daughters, Charlotte Burton of Sylacauga and Brenda Grier of Weogufka; 45 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Minnie L. Johnson and Clara E. Bailey and three children, Annie Sue Bailey, Delmar Cook and Clara Garrett.

Pallbearers were Christopher Bailey, Scott Bailey, Billy Bailey, Phillip Thornton, Bobby Bailey, Andrew Byrd, Daniel Bailey and Clayton Waites.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Winnifred Storey Baker

1931-2003

Funeral services for Winnifred Storey Baker, 71, of Alexander City will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Radney Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Clayton Gilbert will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2003.

Mrs. Baker died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at her residence. She was born Dec. 17, 1931, in Randolph County to Thomas Richard Storey and Doy Hammock Storey. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Randall K. Baker, Richard S. Baker and wife Pam, and Rodney L. Baker and wife Danice, all of Alexander City; six grandchildren, Keri Michelle Baker, Cody Baker, Leigh Ann Baker, Hunter Baker, Cade Baker and Craig Baker; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Laughlin and Bryant Austin Thornell; two brothers, William Storey and Charles D. Storey of New Site; and two sisters, Pauline Willoughby of Daviston and Mac McDaniel of New Site.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Hershel S. Baker; her parents, one brother, Thomas Buford Storey and one sister, Ola Knowles.

The family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to Faith Hospice, 440 Hillabee Street, Alexander City, AL 35010.
